Back in the day my friends Dad bought one for him. He was to ride in the series but things happened. It is still all original in his garage, but need engine rebuild. I have bought stuff for him to rebuild but not there yet. Once the motor is done it will go back into the bike. The bike has always been in the Garage. So its perfect old vintage bike., in great shape. He would ride me around back the till got I yz125, and no it would not even be close to his bike. He has had the bike since from dealer. 1975 MX400B. Hopefully we can get the work done sometime in the near future. He has bad health problems from being at the hospital, but still going to try to get it done.
I recently picked up a 1976 Yamaha IT400 from an older guy who said he used to race motocross in the 80's. It's rough but mostly in one piece and like any vintage bike missing some stuff. It also had the original front forks swapped out for some from a early 90's YZ250, so it has a hydraulic front disc. It also has a running engine from a DT400 in it and it came with the original engine that came out of the frame as well a spare rolling frame. Some might say I paid too much but I personally think I got a deal since I'm located in New York. Everything here tends to go for more than other places. Since it's pretty much a mutt as it sits, it's missing the seat as well as some other hard to find parts I'm just going to do a cafe racer/cafe scrambler type of build with it. I don't have the tools, work space or the money to pay someone to do a full on restoration so it's going to be a custom build. I don't believe in hacking up the frames on these old bikes so I'm going to see how far I can go without having to cut up something. :)
The 360yz and 250yz of yamaha the c model of 1976 were the bikes of the year in australia we had the white and red aluminium tank and monoshock suspension great work
I have this exact bike!. separate paint stripe, I am looking for oem decals. I had a back fire and I need new exhaust fitting from the devastation of that and woodruff key,
OK its just weird to paint it like a yz. It would match my yz360b quite nicely but I would have preferred it with the MX black and yellow 400 over white paint Job.
