I’m sure these things need no introduction, as they are already very famous within the community. Scenic elevators that go straight from the lobby to the seventy-first floor of the tallest building in Michigan are a sight to behold. Not to mention, they are still running on their original relay logic (as indicated by the selector tape in the hoistway), which is incredible! All around, this is an unforgettable installation.

This would definitely be the best part of The Marriott Renaissance Center! I really like the idea of music playing since it would give it a great vibe of the elevator ride! I hope to find elevators like the one in this video in the future!

These were originally Otis 101 with lexan installed 1977 modernized in 2004 by Otis.

Originally autotronic likely, modded with Elevonic 411M. I have no idea what VIP260 is. Tallest currently existing relay controlled elevators if the controller is still original? Tallest ever was the willis tower, followed by the original World Trade Center, and then maybe the Empire State Building.

Me neither, I never heard of that model. I heard that for autotronic, it needs at least 3-4 elevators in a single bank.

Selector tape doesn't mean they use original relay logic. I've seen a few 401s and 411s that use selector tape too

Yes it is. This elector tape attaches to a mechanical selector which is a component that 401’s/411’s do not have. Either you saw something else and thought it was selector tape or you didn’t ride a 401/411.

Ah, well I was wrong about the 401. 411's use encoders that attach to the machine, though.

@@SPS8elevatorsoflakecounty Funny thing is though, only the super tall 411s and the older variant seem to have selector tape. Another 17 floor one which I checked doesn't seem to use it. I wonder if the taller and older ones use a different encoder that is similar to the 401?
