I saw them in concert last Thursday. During his "drum solo", Adam hit a couple of low notes/tones that made my seat vibrate. (I was in the 3rd row.) And not to be outdone, of course, at the end of their "Ring of Fire" encore, Tim hit a low note that made the floor vibrate. LOL! This is one of my favorite Christmas song & I love Home Free's version!
@ruthcurfman7532
@ruthcurfman7532 2 года назад
I am wondering if the last low notes were Adam's 'dragon growls' ?
@rebelpearl
@rebelpearl 2 года назад
I saw them in October, and while talking to the young lady next to me (we were both UVIP) we decided that Tim’s bass notes were kind of like a message chair - vibrations but nice (at least to us). They made us feel energized. Adam’s beatboxing on the other hand sometimes felt like watching a marching band in a parade as it goes by and you feel like your heart is beating with the big bass drums. I don’t think enough people bring up how much you physically feel Adam’s drumming during a show. Both Tim and Adam are impressive to make you feel their vocal talents.

The whole arrangment is stunning, but for me, the standouts are Adam's percussion and Chance's incredible bass.

Adam's vocal percussion, and Chance's crushing of the bass line stood out. Chance is the most underated member of the group

Yup. I think it sounds like a brush on a hi-hat cymbal, too..I love the close harmonies and various leads. But then there are new vocal percussion sounds from Adam. My favorite part will always be the build up to and the words “I AM”. I really enjoyed watching and hearing your analysis. Thanks for your reaction.
@arnieadam

One assumes when you hear anything breathtakingly low, it's from Tim. Chance also has some surprisingly low bass. But I streamed lived their concert at the Ryman last night and during Adam Rupp's beatboxing solo, he hit some incredibly surprising low, rumbling, sustained notes such as are featured in this song...what you called a resonate bass drop. I had my suspicions previously that it was from Adam, not Tim or Chance, and now since hearing him last night, I'm pretty sure those notes are from Adam. All in all, a wonderful Christmas gift to us from the their team.
@lindanearing4710
@lindanearing4710 2 года назад
Ok, I'm not crazy then. That was what I thought when I heard this. It sounds just like the sound he makes when he drops the bass in his solo performance. Watching him in this video at that moment, I'd swear he made that booming bass note.
@DeerlyMusical2

They sound like a giant cathedral-sized organ. That amazing chord sounded as if they were filling the entire universe. Huge. Beautiful. And you're right: their "average" is better than most other's "amazing."
@terrycassis1864
@terrycassis1864 2 года назад
Their attention to detail in storytelling through the music is astounding. "The Great I AM" non-standard chord progression demands the listeners attention to the most pertinent question of the song - I AM being the name of God in the Judeo-christian tradition. Incredible artistry as well as musicianship.

I hope some Home Fries don't take that the wrong way....I understand exactly where you are coming from. 2021 has been an exceptional year for Home Free - they killed almost all the 20 or so covers & originals they've done. Mortius I gotta a question. Because of your skills to take apart music, do you ever have the chance to sit back and listen to one of say Home Free's songs straight through. You hae a gift, but does it ever get in your way to just enjoy the music without analizing ? I hope you don't take this the wrong way...I listen to enjoy & appreciate your disection of our boys music....I am just curious. Because I just want you to enjoy it sometimes too !!

That’s a fantastic question Kevin! Since beginning my reactions, I of course don’t get the opportunity to watch videos all the way through as my FIRST listen anymore. However, I almost always share the songs I enjoy with my wife after I finish recording my reactions, meaning I get to hear them all the way through in that way. And often, I end up listening to it lots and lots of times in the weeks after! I’m pretty sure I’ve listen to voiceplay’s wicked medley on my way home from work every day since recording that reaction 😅

So…closed hi-hats with brushes. Actually, this tune isn’t ancient. The lyricist, Mark Lowery, performed it within the last year with Voctave. Reading the comments on that performance and/or reactions has a wealth of info. He was compiling a list of things he wanted to tell Mary for a Christmas show in poetry for his church in 1984 and the music was added by Buddy Greene in 1991 … it grew to the song. Hearing him sing the complete melody with Voctave is really interesting to see which words he emphasizes differently than it’s typically heard … .and it changes the meaning subtly.
