This was probably the best meal we've ever had - or right up there with the best! The white tomato soup was quite literally the BEST thing we've ever tasted. Hands down. Highly recommend this chef's table and for us, it was far superior over the one on Royal Caribbean (although that one was nice, as well).

Great vid! You said that they chose 10 people a night. I was wondering if you knew if a lot of people got left out, or if that is pretty much most of the people that wanted this? And if it is first to sign up, or do they pick from the whole list. My family and I will be on the Ruby in July and are totally looking forward to this. So I don't want to get my hopes up too high if there is only a slim chance of getting picked.

Thanks so much Fred! Some people do get left out. In fact, we did at first! If you want even a chance at getting a seat at the Chef's Table, you MUST either go directly to guest services when you board the ship - OR - go directly to your room and call guest services to get your name on the list. We went directly to guest services, put our names on the list, and the next day we got a letter with their regrets that we hadn't been chosen. BUT, much to our surprise, we got a phone call in the room the next morning letting us know someone had dropped out and we got seats! We were totally shocked and thrilled! And we will say it is DEFINITELY worth trying because it was one of the most memorable experiences we have in our 28 years together. The "White Tomato Soup" they served was literally one of the top 10 things we've ever tasted. Wishing you well and come back and let us know if you got a seat and how you liked it. Bon voyage! :)

@@livingthealleyway5777 Thanks for the info. Yes, I plan on going to directly to guest services once I get on board. Since our flight gets in at 8:30 am, we should get on the boat as soon as it boards... if that makes a difference when it comes to who they choose for the Chef's Table. 41 more days to go, I can't wait! 😀

Hey Fred, we thought we would check back with you to see how your cruise went and if you got a chance to experience the Chef's Table? We hope you guys had a great time! We are going on the Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas in 6 weeks and hope to get a seat at the Chef's Table on there! Have a great day! Michael and Elizabeth

@@livingthealleyway5777 Hi, thanks for checking back! Yes, we did the Chef's Table! It was awesome! The wine alone is worth the $100, great stuff and they kept it flowing. I truly enjoyed it and plan on doing it again on my next cruise. Granted, if I really want to be a "foodie" about it... my lobster was undercooked and the desert, while delicious, wasn't anything special other than it looked cool. But that being said, these were just minor things because there was so much food that was great, a lot being unique, that about halfway in I realised that I probably shouldn't be trying to eat it all. :) The highlight for me was a cabernet soaked pear, sauteed down and covered with gorgonzola cheese. It doesn't sound that great, IMO, but it truly was! Overall, I was highly impressed with the food. There were only a few things I didn't think were well above average in the main dining halls. I only tried the buffett once for dinner, and took a bite of about 6 different things and quickly headed to a main dining hall. So I wasn't impressed with the buffett. But the dining halls are included in the price, so no problem eating there. Plus, ate at the Crown Grill twice with be very happy with it both times. As for the cruise itself, well you probably heard about mine. LOL I was on the Ruby Princess after it hit the dock. So we spent 3 days in San Francisco while they repaired the hole in the ship (with every day saying it would only be a few more hours, which was the really annoying part). And then had a 7 day, instead of 10 day, Alaska cruise with only 2 ports (Ketchikan and Prince Rupert) and no Glacier Bay (which I really did want to see). But, they gave us 75% of our money back and that same amount to use on a future cruise. (FYI, it is times like this in which it really pays to book your flights and stuff through Princess.) They also gave the option to get 100% of your money back, after 3 days onboard, plus 50% towards your next cruise if you left the ship (a terrible deal if you ask me). But, about 500 people took that 2nd option (a lot of those had kids in which they had a lot of port excursions planned). So the boat was not nearly as packed as it should have been and those that stuck it out kinda had comradery going after our 3 day Cruise to Nowhere. It made for a very fun, very casual, cruise. Granted, I will say, that me being 6'5" 350 lbs., I was ready to get off the ship after 10 days. I just felt so claustrophobic in the bathroom, and in general, having to duck walking around the ship. The worst was turning sideways and stepping up at the same time to enter the bathroom. This was my first cruise since I was a kid and really didn't know what to expect. Honestly, I would rather spend the same amount money and stay at a nice resort, with full sized toilets and showers in the future instead of a cruise. But I do have this $2k+ Princess credit, so I have been eyeing a 7 day cruise out of Los Angeles (no plane flight involved, which also sucks for a person my size) on one their newest ship. :) Overall it was a really nice cruise, made that much better by the fact it only cost us 1/4th as much. :)

@fmadden71 So happy you guys were able to experience the Chef's Table and that you really enjoyed it! Agree totally about the wine - it never stopped! lol Also agree about the "foodie-ness" (is that even a word?) regarding desert. Everything was presented so well and the desert was good, but truly nothing to write home about. Your cabernet soaked pear sounds absolutely amazing! May have to try to replicate that at home (we do that a lot). We also tried the Crown Grill and it was definitely memorable. In both situations, Chef's Table and Crown Grill, we were like you and realized there was no way to consume all of the deliciousness, but we gave it our best try. That's wild that you guys were on the Ruby when it hit the doc in SF. We followed that whole story and saw that it ended up being cut short. That's really sad when you were counting on 10 days but happy it all went well after that plus you got some perks out of it all. Hopefully you got to do a few things while you were in San Francisco (miss that place! we used to live in Sacramento and go there frequently - also lived in Los Angeles for a few years and miss that place, too! It's hotter than hell in Houston this summer!!!). Totally agree about the bathrooms and hallways and I hear what you're saying about staying at a nice resort with everything full size! Does make a difference. You should check out a video we recently watched where a guy compared the price and amenities of a cruise vs. a week at Sandals. #hoffmanhappytravels ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4RUyAJFJkPg.html Really kind of eye opening! Take care and hopefully we'll hear from you again in the future! All the best! Michael and Elizabeth
