The item at 31.28 seconds, I think you might find is a ww1 military compass sight and artillery alignment, it folds over the top off the compass. I have two and the early ones were brass but as the war wore on and mass production they went to steel, a similar style is still used today

The Cobblers Shoe forms are also known as Hobbing Irons, depending where in the country you were. Hobbing comes from Hobnail Shoes and Boots. My Dad's mother used to mend his School Shoes using one of these, every night beside the fire back in the 1920s.

This may be of interest to you….I am current;y reading a book of reminiscences from the end of the 19th century through the 1920s, up to WWII…In one 1920s snippet about life beside a canal, it is clearly stated that a , hot sad iron on a rope was often used to make a hole in the ice for fishing, or to dip for water. This makes sense, and could be just one of the reasons you find a sad iron in a canal…..and you often do…… the rope broke or the knot came undone, or the handle of the hot iron couldn’t take the shock, from hot to cold…. I thought of you, as soon as I read it…The book ? WARWICKSHIRE within living memory….by Warwickshire Federation of Women’s Institutes..published in 1993… The book is filled with very interesting detail about all village life and small town ….Best regards, from Kenilworth .

Hey guys, hello from the Sooner state (Oklahoma). As always, you all look like you're having a good time, no reason to do the thing unless you have fun doing it. I was wondering, besides the dogtag you found, have any of you found anything American? I know during the war that we assembled almost all our forces in England, mainly the Army and the Army air corps, I was just curious. Good Hunting, Stay warm.
@PeakyDippers
@PeakyDippers 7 месяцев назад
Hey ford, Thanks for your kind words, we really enjoy each others company and make each other laugh ni matter the weather. As to your question, the only 2 items I've found American is the dog tag your referring to and ages back I found an American serviceman brass uniform ww2 button with the mighty Eagle on the front.

The bronze age torc necklace in this video 1,600 bc
@metelgodful
@metelgodful 7 месяцев назад
I don't about your laws over where your at but over here in California and a lot of places in the United States it's illegal to fish off a bridge weather it be magnet fishing or regular fishing and that ring brooch it's not bronze because bronze is not magnetic it's metal it looks more like a belt buckle and the torque necklace is not bronze either because bronze is not magnetic that's how you tell if something is bronze or aluminum by putting a magnet up to it if it doesn't stick it bronze or aluminum if it's sticks it metal now if it's coded with bronze that's a different story that means it's bronze over metal and because it's more metal it will stick to magnet
@PeakyDippers
@PeakyDippers 7 месяцев назад
You can magnet fish anywhere in the uk as long as its not on public land. The brooch was never mentioned it was bronze, its a metal one from the 13th century. The torc that goes around someone's neck on the video is a bronze aged torc but only the metal exists as most of the bronze has wore away in the water. The 3 finds being the arrow head, torc and pin brooch have been certified by the British museum and have been confirmed
@metelgodful
@metelgodful 7 месяцев назад
Ok that's cool then right on for finding it and you can't magnet fish on public land because it's City owned or government-owned land is that right over here most bridges are City or government-owned and you can't fish or magnet fish off them and if it's a private bridge you have to have the owners of that bridge permission and on that I was just wondering if it was different from ares but anyways I wish you good luck and hope you find a safe or treasure chest full of money or valuables or just keep finding cool stuff and enjoy life doing it and that was my first time watching your channel and now I'm kinda interested in watching more so keep those videos coming

I've got to say, of all the magnet fishers I watch, the Peaky's are my favourite and, as if I need an excuse? Well, I'm a Brummie. Born in Handsworth in 1946 and spent (or wasted, if my parents had been listened to) lots of spare time cycling along the tow paths in the midlands. I still remember seeing 'osses pulling the narrowboats, hitching the occasional ride on one and being dropped off some way away to ride my bike back home. Happy days but now......!

The "shoe last" looks more like something you'd find on the side of a boat or ship. They come in pairs for the rope. Might be wrong, but the item has a strange curve at the "heel", which makes me think it's not a shoe last.
