Love Keeley racing the 400, but I don't think Sydney is to worried! Same for the 1500 ladies, I don't think they're freaking about Athing. Which is good for all us T&F junkies- the two of them right where they belong, in the 800.

For 1500 Faith Kipyegon, Gudaf Tsegay, Welteji would be very difficult to catch for Athing Mu. Keeley won't take 400 meters seriously now I believe, it's just a tactic to get rid of Mary Moraa.
@fizzychizzy
@fizzychizzy Год назад
Both are only doing these races to prepare for their 800m races. Keely needs to lower her 400m time in my opinion. Athing has a sub-50 400m. So if it’s a sprint to the finish….we know who has the better leg speed potentially. Kersee hasn’t put Athing in a 400 and I don’t like that. The audience is going in to Worlds blind. And Athing is doing the 1500 race just for increased strength, fitness, and endurance.
@FROMTHEMUSCLEPRODUCTIONS

Yeah they are working on speed and endurance racing the different races working on their individual "weaknesses" to maximize the 800 potential. I would like to see mu doing 400s some years too but I think USA coaching is also trying to keep the clash of the titans low for now. Aka Athing Mu and Syndey. I think Mu 400 might be next level

Yes, cinder tracks are worse for abrasion burns. My sister had a fall on one when sprinting as a teenager, she still had some cinder particles in her knees a few months after. The one downside to synthetic tracks is that they are harder because they are laid on concrete, so there is a slightly increased risk of breaking bones.

It seems to me that the Norwegian girl did not fall on purpose and was not cheating or trying to cheat at all... She simply was extenuated: Lactic Acid... The legs muscles simply do not respond any more at that stage. Only people that have run sometime the 400m know how hard is to keep on after the last curve: the agony, the extenuation and how the muscles do not obey to the mind at that level of effort and wear. The 400 are speed running beyond the capacity of the human kind. The human body only can only work at maximum effort about 40 seconds at the very best, and the 400 are just beyond that threshold; so even extreme and well trained athletes can not run the whole track at full speed, and can not cope with that extreme level of effort when the fuel is over... I, personally have experienced that, and I know that the muscles do not answer to your mind and will at the end; and that you are pushing hard with all your will and energy and the fact is that you can barely rise up your knees or move forward... The trans-genders and intersex runners that compete like women is another matter that has to be addressed in international sport for good.
@veraciteabsolue1221
@veraciteabsolue1221 Год назад
@@Angelarju I understand your point. However I watched several times. She intentionnally leaned forward, after she realized that, in spite of her efforts, her opponent was faster, and during one or two meters, her legs are still strong. Only after that, she decides to fall. Of course, it is human to do everything you can to win. My feeling is that she decides to fall BECAUSE she knows thay judges/rules do not eliminate you. If rules don't change, all runners should delibarately fall one meter before the finish line, just in case someone behind you you fall. Concerning, trans, the rules are favorable to them because the decision makers consider that the public opinion is in favor of them. Even if they perfectly know that they give a prejudice to genuine women.
@Angelarju
@Angelarju Год назад
@@veraciteabsolue1221 Well, you are right in that "She intentionally leaned forward, after she realized that, in spite of her efforts, her opponent was faster"... But many athletes do it. What counts is the chest when it reaches the line; so every athlete should do it. The error is when many don't do it, because they forget it or they don't bother to do it because they fell lazy or they see the are not in a winning position and don't mind to do it. But leaning forward can make you win some hundreds or thousandths of a second. Some athletes even lean and throw one arm forward, which is a very good way to advance, to push forward the chest. After revising the video several times, what i see is that she realized that in the very last meters her opponent comes at greater speed, thus she leans forward to try to win, but her legs can not follow the rest of her body and her mind, because she is worn out. She can not move the legs forward fast enough to keep the balance with the rest of her body when she leans forwards, and she falls. Probably throwing itself in the finish line should be punished, but i do no think that is the case in this final. I have seen cases, specially in the 400 and the 800 in which the Lactic Acid and extenuation make that athletes despite their best efforts barely move and barely advance or even fall down, because the legs muscles do not answer at that level of fatigue. And not necessarily at the Finish line, but maybe 10, 20 or 30 meters or more before the finish line. There is a very good example in the men's 4x400 final at the 2018 European Champs in Berlin, when a very good sprinter (B. Hortelano, 200 European gold Medal in 2016, and with personal Best in 100, 200 and 400 of 10:06, 20:04, and 44:68), barely can advance and rise his knees in the last 30 meters when he was about to win the race, but he was "hit" by the lactic acid and completely worn out after running the first 200 too fast. He could not advance, dramatically lost his speed and managed to arrive 3rd, not even running but almost walking, just because his powerful mental will, because his muscles did not respond. And he could have perfectly fall down 20 meters before the Finnish line. Only his will avoided that and allowed him to finish the race, though he could not win, but finish 3rd. There is a very good video of European Athletics of that race: "Men's 4x400m Relay Final | Berlin 2018" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3n9wQ8VS3eo.html . There is some good videos of athletes falling down 20 meters before the finish line in a 800m, and in 4x400 races, but I don't remember exactly where and when, to put a link.

John was clever, so confident, so humble: she really deserved to win. Perfect on all points ! Jaeger was pretty but stupid, pretty stupid ! of course she owns great skills, but: She forgot that 400 meters is not 300 meters; too much certainty, too much pretension! ! What a shame to finish crashing down in such event ! (Then it is a lack of respect towards other athletes, not a worthy attitude, she was the only guilty of her failure.) Also, clever and beautiful Hodgkinson ! GB win heads up ! Jaeger didn' win the silver medal, she lost the place she was certain to obtain. And she knew it before crossing the line, at about 360 meters, she turns the head on the right and think: "What have i done !". In this race, everyone except Jaeger, run perfectly and performed its personal best, faster and faster in a clever way of running ... only Jaeger failed like a snooty amateur, and like a child caught in the act, she stays on the ground ! She will never, never remain that moment as the winning of a gold silver. The problem is not only she felt down voluntary indeed, but she stayed down on the tar ... NOT in a European Contest !!! Imagine everyone doing this after losing ! Here as ever, people from Great Britain are Lords and Princess and respect the good manners, they respect the protocol and their competitors. They fight with distinction and elegance. They chose and keep first class in any circumstances.

I’m sorry, but this comment has to be a joke. I agree, John checking on Jaeger after the race was a nice gesture, but the first thing John did after that was to ask where her crown was whilst pointing to the top of her head. How does that make her the humble one when Keely did exactly the same thing minus the crown-gesture? I don’t think there were a lot of people who expected Jaeger to win, so to say that she is “disrespectful” and has “too much pretention” for running too fast in the beginning, is a stupid thing to say i think. She just simply tried to beat the favorite. Maybe Jaeger started a bit too fast, but she must have done something right when she beat her own PB by more than half a second. If something, that just means that she can run a lot faster, since everyone except Jaeger ran “perfect”, according to you. And thirdly, calling her “childish” and a “snooty amateur” for staying on the ground after the finish, is simply ridiculous in my opinion. The poor girl had just slammed her body to the floor and then threw up a few minutes later. From what I’ve understood, this is her first season training for the 400 meters. She was probably just super tired because she had given her all and isn't as used to the lactic acid as other athletes. That is not “childish” if you ask me. Jaeger deserved her silver because she came second. The exact same way John deserved her gold because she came first.
