I mean... It's definitely not new. As another commenter said: Deadpool did before, many times over. Hell we can go further back, like a few fresh prince of Bel-Air moments, where Will breaks the fourth wall in great ways. Like my favorite Will: "Oh yeah? If we're so rich then how come we ain't got no ceiling?" *Camera pans out shows the studio ceiling* Breaking the 4th wall is nothing new.
@@TheDude20792 don’t gotta tell me, I’m well aware of that like it’s practically been a pattern over the years,the really good game is often under looked and the game with the most hype is often the biggest disappointment.
I think part of it is there being being absolutely no hype behind it. You don't know what to expect, so when you go in blind, what's there hits you like a train.

Word choice, setting, and delivery. It just fits much better here in a comedic Saturday cartoon setting, and therefore isn’t cringe, especially when the word choice isn’t “im seeing freaking dragons”
It is funny. How some of the best games out there. They are generally ones that just kind of show up out of the blue. No, fanfare. No, word. Just appear. Either by design or simply that a small studio had no budget for marketing. I mean, at times it is a great thing to not hype things up and oversell your product. Cause we've seen a dozen times over....they fall flat on their faces. Some do pick themselves up, improve, and become success. Just there are those out there who are so sour faced after seeing a bad first impression. They still, call a rebound success story a failure story.....maybe they need to check themselves on that kind of thinking. Yet, that cutscene transition. Geez. More devs need to take notes.
@@superubergoober Just like how it sucks that Xbox players can't play Final Fantasy and Spider-man, shame on Sony for that. Hi-Fi Rush is a new IP, no reason at all why it should be released outside of the Xbox ecosystem. And I wouldn't say it sucks anyway. Microsoft owning all these ips means all of them can be played on gamepass on PC, Xbox and cloud, far more options than most Sony games offer.
@@Underdrill the difference being that elder scrolls and fallout didnt start as xbox exclusives, xbox really likes to scoop up already successful ips and make them exclusive. hi-fi rush i could understand why, but im hoping es and fallout arent treated the same way. and no, exclusivity is never a good thing, it only hurts consumers lol. if you wanna keep sucking microsoft off, thats your business. i just wanna play es6 on my playstation
everyone knows it wont get it despite how much people love it. especially since other games are coming out this year that are bigger and not indie :( sad to see smaller games getting put on the back burner, overshadowed, and underlooked
Imagine getting universal acclaim in whatever you do for a living. To the point it gets recognized by your whole industry, and a year later you get laid off for financial reasons. That is this game in a nutshell.
@@SrakenKraken Because everyone played it, enjoyed it, and finished it. I imagine it'll start coming up in conversation again once folks start thinking about their GOTY lists. That's one reason live-service games have dominated the industry for so long, if you put out a tight 20 hour game with a solid ending then folks can only talk about it for so long before it's forgotten in favor of the next thing.

Even with the year starting weak withh big launches being boring, this masterpiece is getting thrown hard under the radar, hope that more people gave it a chance to show love for games that deserve the support
I'd say this year is a mixed bag. You got garbage like Forspoken but also this game and Dead Space remake. Then, we got Velma, which is the worst rated show on IMDB but also The Last of Us, which is critically acclaimed and faithful to the games. So yeah, mixed.
@@hazim9529 I still dont know why they call it Dead Space Remake. Its an 80$ Texture Pack with minor fan patch additions. Sure the game is really really good. But you can get the Original for a few bucks and it looks almost the same with some tweaking. Resident Evil 2 and Silent Hill a remakes. Dead Space is an "up to date" remastered.
0:33 I think if he continued rolling into the window, the transition would look more graceful. The fact his body suddenly stays upright before the window looks forced for the transition.
This is a good point, not really noticeable on first viewing though unless you're already looking out for things like that. I can cut them slack on minor things like that when the rest seems to work so well.

I play a lot of games, of all kinds, and lets be real, videogames stories are not made to be seen in a theater, they are made to be played and interacted with. (Surely there are examples of a nicely translated game to movie or other medium, but sadly the majority of those movies/series are just about the money AND nothing else...)
I won't lie the game has some fantastic animation for a video game but I would. E lying if I said the 2D to 3D can be a bit jarring neither look bad I just think the execution could've been done a bit better
I have no clue what you mean. The transition is pretty seamless to me. No loading between the cut, instant transition between 2D and 3D, no real lag due to the sudden change.

Saw this video and was interested in the game, went ahead and bought it. It's like "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" meets "Baby Driver", but an action-based rhythm game. It's really damn good, definitely a GOTY contender.
Because it's a labour of love. Devs clearly wanted to make this game, knew what they were making and had fun while doing so. This is not a game that went through a commitee and 20 focus group tests to be approved, nor was it designed to be a "live service". It is a fully contained product, with beginning and end, and ins meant to be enjoyed as it is, not as part of larger "service"
The fact that this game, which came from out of nowhere, can look, sound and play this incredible on what I consider to be an extremely modest gaming PC (sub $1000... two years ago) is mind-blowing. And it also comforts me knowing that there's still plenty of great ideas left to implement in gaming. I've been pleasantly surprised by the game. 2023 is off to a good start.
I'm surprised I didn't hear about this game sooner, it looks really interesting. Sad to hear Microsoft literally crucified the studio, seemed like a lot of talent went into it.
I just got this recommended, and same here. All I know is that it looks great, and the 3D is amazing. Edit: Never mind, literally the next video told me the title. The game is called Hi-Fi Rush.
Everyone's gushing about the transition but I'm more impressed by the little visual gag of having that black haired lady stand on the borders of the screen and distort them.
Okay that's very smart. They disguise the transistion with the very common technique of a fade and jump cuts. It doesn't become jarring because they already established what we are seeing, him going through the smoke, being flung through the window. Also the fact the boss breaks the 4th wall by bending her border with her foot and affecting the drone. The power of visuals is put to good use here.
You should play more games. A cut to sub par simulated smoke effects transitioning to a cut scene is pretty damn common. Nothing is groundbreaking here. It looks great. But let's be real, something like say even God of War does gameplay to cutscene way more seamless than this early 2000's arcade nonsense.

NGL I feel bad never knowing about this until it dropped, the style and animation from this game was a fuckin absolute treat. All who worked on this deserve some praise 💪
This game is PHENOMENAL and deserves all of the attention. I think the game awards is a joke and nothing more than a circle jerk, but this game deserves so many awards.

It is cheaper to subscribe to the game pass, you can play all the xbox exclusives without buying a microsoft console, then you use the money you were going to invest in an xbox and buy a nitendo and a playstation, then you will be able to play all the games from 3 platforms, then in the future you can build a pc and then you can play all existing games.
@@aaronpasache1847 it's rare for a game with really good graphics to have bad gameplay, Forespoken not only has bad gameplay, it's an ugly game, lifeless, a generic open world, it's all bad, games like The last of us and Red dead have realistic graphics , many cutscenes, and still has an incredible gameplay.
