People complaining about the people commenting on his voice: if his voice is being commented on that much, it´s not because of nothing. Yes, he tends to sound flat at times, but you have to keep in mind that Incubus songs tend to be very demanding in terms of singing and he has been doing it for quite a long time. Just to be out there touring and attempting to sing those same notes today, without tuning the songs at least half a step down, is quite gutsy of him, don´t you think? We have lost several singers in the past recent years (Cornell, Bennington, Weiland). Just give the guy a break and send all your kudos to him for being out there doing his thing.
This thread is full of Vocal Professionals ...man just sit back and enjoy the greatness before it is gone...these dudes have been one of the more consistent presences in the Rock world for the last 20 years. "I was your friend and ended up your victim!"
I'm not really a huge fan of Incubus but I really do like them, especially the guitarist and Brandon, and I don't understand why y'all saying that Brandon's voice is sh*t nowadays.. It's not as good and flawless as it used to be? He has hard times to sing higher notes and sometime sounds a bit outoftune? Absolutely. It sucks and can't sing anymore? Don't say nonsense. He still got it and for what I've heard and read he's in his 40's now,he changed singing tecnique and has been through some health problems, so it's pretty understandable why all this. I'm saying this because you're really exaggerating the problem. We lost a lot of great voices recently, take care of him and hope he gets better, but anyway he still sounds really good and man, it's rock n roll,it's ok not being perfect all time! Peace and enjoy the fuck*ng music
yeah i agree with this, this is the most educated comment on the subject i've seen yet. he's definitely lost some range and has changed his technique, but he's by no means a bad singer.
exactly. A lot of us don't get the training that we need when we first start singing and end up setting us up for long term problems. But it's still fucking Brandon fucking Boyd. He's one of the best front men, ever. At least he's not relying on autotune.
@@AnotherWorldYT the most educated comment starts with "I'm not really a fan, but I really do like them" (paraphrasing) Says a lot about the comments section...js
I had the privilege of attending 4 live Incubus shows (3 in Malaysia and 1 in Singapore). Brandon is obviously older, not as energetic as he was before but to my ears, there is nothing wrong with his vocal quality. I would argue for someone pushing 50, he's still in top shape. This takes me back to my early 20s, attending their concerts, dancing the night away with my friends and singing at the top of our lungs to Boyd. Don't think Incubus would ever get into "sucks at live shows" list for me. Arguably, the quality of the show feels a bit off, but they're older and still manage to put me at awe with this show. No. Incubus will always be THAT band for me. They are always gonna be the band I reminisce my youth to.
mike wellington I never got the freak about Brandon's vocal issues. He and the band said Sardy made him do 1000 takes. And we're all older. Takes longer to heal.. Plus I think incubus fans are spoiled cause they are that amazing live.
Adam Hordies I agree, his voice never sounded that bad to me. It seems like they all reinvented their live acts for this set of shows too, they sound great and have remastered all the songs to sound fresh
Heard their song back in 2006, I was still in high school then. Up to now I still listen to them in 2018 with my kid while I jam out on my guitar. #IncubusForLife
from gradeschool to highschool to college and after graduation, incubus thank you so much for the music! you are huge part of my life and I couldnt imagine what life would be like if I never started listening to your music
I spent countless hours watching videos of these guys back in the day. Still got all my CDs too. (Those are magic spinning discs that play music, for some of you younger cats)
Although the voice of Brandon is getting damaged by the persistent of the last 20 years, this versión of "No fun" sounds better than in the album! Long life 4 Incubus!
I'm revisiting Incubus after about 15 years and I honestly think he sounds great for how long he's been doing this and now being in his 40's. You'll find most if not all vocalists performances deteriorate over time. He's really not bad compared to many others.
If anyone thinks there so underrated. Go on RU-vid and look at some of there world tours playing masssuve Stadiums night after night those guys have had a pretty blessed careers
A pesar de que tiene muy buena técnica para cantar y manejo del micrófono es difícil decirlo: su voz se escucha cansada, falla mucho en las canciones y se ve que sufre al cantar, cosa que antes no le sucedía
Hey guys, lets enjoy this really wonderful performance. Rio often has really incredible energy and the crowd sounds like they are really diggin it! Been a fan since I was 13 and it will never get old for me, with their complex song writing and power they put in really is awesome :D
Y'all know Robert plant can't do his thing any more right? Cause it's the same thing. Your voice goes with age Listen to Dave grohl Same thing These songs are hard in your 20 More impressive that he can get through them at almost 50 Not to mention the balls it takes to do that at a festival, he's very aware of the situation lol
never forget seeing incubus after 911 in NYC with Hoobastank and the memories of police with machine guns as i came up the stairs in Penn Station, everyone said your crazy dont go......you dont miss Incubus are you crazy?.....was one of the best concerts of my life
And all of a sudden, brandon’s voice got strained starting at Wish you were here. Those cracks and missed tunes were painful to listen to. I now see why people are complaining about his voice. Still a great performance though. ♥️♥️♥️
I think he sounds fine, you can be a critic if you think you can do better. If anything, Kilmore should start mixing in more of what he sings on the record so he can sing a lower octave to it. They already do this for songs like "A Crow Left of the Murder." There is no shame in that.
