@@Sitanium That's not a valid reason. It's not like the jets were continuously distracting the Harvester Queen. There were moments when the jets would fly past and take a while to turn around and come back. In those calm moments, why didn't the Queen use her blaster cannon to just shoot the bus like she did all those fighter jets she shot out of the sky? Also, at one point she actually jumped literally on top of the bus, and still missed it anyway. And yet she was able to use her tentacles to swat fast moving jet fighters out of the air without any problem.
Apparently, the physics behind it appears to be that, as you scream, you produce a soundwave that further increases the velocity of the ejected projectiles, be it solid, liquid, gas, or even plasma. Further increasing the damage capacity. Hmmm... Interesting.
@@jonde3 I agree. Beautiful CGI but the scripting wasn't great. Not as bad as Independence Day Resurgence but still not great and not well thought out.
I wanna say maybe because the jets were going towards the queen makes them easier targets, while the bus is running away from the queen, but still yeah it's pretty stupid she didnt hit them with those tentacles
As an ex-school bus driver, it's our job to protect the children and if you've ever been on a school run with idiot car drivers all around, you know where we honed our skills from, so dodging the Queen is childs play
Not me. To different from the types of weapons used in the original. Sure its styling is the same but there was never any ground equipment of that size in the original. And seriously as important as they made the queen to be why would she be in a giant target however heavily shielded it is. And even worse the size of its actual body when they shoot up its exoskeleton.
Every single Kaiju/Monster movie: “Hey you know these highly technologically advanced fighter jets we’re flying?” “Yeah what about them” “The kind of plane that travels above the speed of sound and can engage targets from beyond visual range?” “Sure” “Lets fly as humanly close and as low as possible towards the monster and only fire our weapons at point blank range”
also, you guys know how military technology is probably the fastest evolving science created by man? In 100 years we're still going to use infantry shooting bullets from rifles, except now bullets will travel at almost dodgeable speeds. Who cares that even now entire warfare revolves around dropping shells and rockets at each others from distances of several kilometres.
It's a shame the film makers couldn't help but put so many bad decisions in this film. There are bits and pieces of awesome in it. The design of the harvester queen was great, especially when she was in motion.
@stirange It was just a new thing at the time so people liked it. Now every movie concpet has already been made so the standards are higher. If the 2016 version came out instead of the first one people would still loved it like the first one. We just consumed too much so we too judgemental
As a school bus driver myself, I appreciate that exchange; "Stay behind the yellow line, Dad." "There isn't one!" "Imagine one!." There's a conscientious school bus driver.
I find it hilarious that they could have completely fixed this scene simply by making up some magical mcguffin that had been brought onto the bus that the Queen just could not risk the safety of. Then it would make sense that she can snipe down jets but not even get close to the bus. She wanna get into a good position so she can subdue it gently, and the military is working against that happening to keep the kids safe. But I guess not...
Make the jets attack from far away - why the hell do we need giant monster queens in ID2??? It's not a mosnter movie like king kong... No qucik fixes possible, needs an entire rewrite.
800? more like 80. the damned queen was eyeballing them out of the sky all casual like with a weapon with projectiles slower than the jets and even tore the wing off one as it was flying past her with her damned tentacles. Had she nailed the jets first instead of bothering with the buss that clearly couldn't get away there would have been nothing to take the shield down.
@@christopherrussell3839 Not true, he's spoken publicly about it. The reason he did not return is because the studio wasn't willing to pay what he was asking. He also had major schedule issues because he was filming Suicide Squad at the time.
3:08 The way the Queen looks at her gun being destroyed was the cutest thing. She even tries to hold her arm high to protect her face @ 3:11. I don't know, i just found it cute and very human-like 😅
Alien Queen is accurate enough to noscope a fighter jet but can't hit a school bus in the widest, flattest, most open terrain possible. God this is dumb.
@GhillieWorm What is so bad about it? I never watched the movie since even from the trailers I got a bad feeling about it, but I'd like to know what exactly went wrong.
@@SeaIifyIt is like a SNL parody of the first movie, literally, everything is utterly stupid, too many stupid jokes that dont even land, illogical script, it turns into some child friendly crap by the end, the ONLY good thing is the CGI, everything else sucks beyond words.
well you can still be serious while having a good time. spiderman 3. look how much of reimi shenaninggans and fooling around lol and the movie turns out to be loved till this day
Plot Armor: I grant thee the 'untargetable' and 'unshootable' shield which you can rest assure the queen and her big-ass gun won't hit you no matter how slow you go.
I watched it, and i'm watching it through these clips. And i honestly don't know why people dislike this movie so much. I mean, if someone told me their reasons maybe i could start to understand
@@dream_drifter6848 it's been quite a while since I watched it I remember one of the biggest things the sequel was trying to do TOO much, trying to replicate the same feelings of the first one. I watched characters die in this movie and felt nothing because it just wasn't done in a way to make me feel something. I barely got to see them. But the original made me feel something for them The scientist's death at the end especially, I literally don't remember him from the original and he barely had any time in this movie. So why should I care about his death? That was one of my biggest takeaways, this movie was TRYING to make viewers feel but just did a terrible job at it. Other than that the movie just wasn't that good. I also remember the "relationship" built up between that big african guy and the one scientist or soldier with him that you see in this scene, how at the end the black guy said he was worthy of being a soldier or something (wasn't shown in this scene). But just felt stupid, didn't feel like it at all. That other guy was not a good soldier. Can't say more detail as I haven't seen it in a long time and can't even remember their names Overall the movie felt very forced
Flying directly at a giant alien armed with a canon? No Flying within meters of that giant alien that also has multiple tentacles? Never Teenage pilots? HELL NO!!
Lemme get this straight, so the alien can easily shoots a plane that's going over 2000 miles per hour but struggles to shoot a school bus which has max speed of 100 miles per hour. I need some of that plot armor lol
It's like the pitch meeting for this was like "know any good alien movies we can rip off" "Yea I was thinking we can do a sequel to independence day, where most of the scenes are similar, and we can also rip off aliens by introducing a giant alien queen".
@Red Velvet i honestly don't know where you got that, it's a dumb scene in a shot movie but it had nothing to do with female power. People like you who label everything like this as feminism are fucking blind
Independence day was so strong to me because of the lack of visible aliens, when something doesn't have a face it's more menacing. only having small bits of alien scenes, but mostly just mystery
And also the tension. Throughout the film, we aren’t sure of the alien’s intentions. Do they want to attack, do they want to communicate with us? It leaves us on edge
@@armorpro573 um, no. The second they blew away newyork was a clear sign they wanted to attack, so no, there's no suspense on their intentions, they're here to attack
The School Bus was not only carrying the main characters, but also kids and a little dog... No creature however large can penetrate that level of Plot Armor
its a shame cause im sure there could have been potential for meaningful and engaging sequels but this was pretty bad and probably sunk any follow ups. Of course if they were like this, we dont want them anyway.
This movie is a insult to the first Independence Day, they shouldn't 've been allowed to make a sequel, 'cause it was a shame... Some movies just don't need a continuation, they were good enough and that's it, but Hollywood only thinks about make money. Another example of a movie that didn't need a sequel was Pacific Rim, the sequel was a shame and messed up the franchise.
It’s just nostalgia. People can’t accept change. It’s inherent in us due to our primitive instincts of safety and routine. However with a little use of your brain, you can easily look past that and appreciate new things for what they are and not what you wish they could be.
The point of the first indepandance day was that it was loosely believable and was scary at times. This was just stupid, ridiculous and had no character.
Yup, just as the western world says the same thing to China now that it's copied, stolen & plagiarized e everything we ever R&D, developed & made.. And is now attempting to menace & bully the world with all its 'arsenal' of stuff, that they weren't ever even intelligent or innovative enough to design or make for themselves, in the first place..🤔 In-put same quote here. 🤣
You are joking right? There is ton of great movies from 21st and many bad ones from 80/90s. This is also a pg movies, which you can rarely find good movies that are pg. You are very igront nit picking moviers like this and say that this one bad movie means all 21st century movies are bad. So by your logic If I nit pick bad movies from the 80s or the 90s (There is quite a few) all movies during thos times are bad. There is also a few more things that you might have said this, you have bad taste in movies, you are a kid and saying this makes you feel older (Sounds weird but almost everyone saing this are kids) or you are an adult and can't except newer generations are more advanced and movies and music (some) are getting better.
I swear, watching this scene, I envision the first bit before the bus chase, where a shield and health bar appear on the screen. Then as Mrs. McPilot says: Unleash all you have, that is when it lets the player take control of the jet and the boss fight begins....this whole entire scene felt like one really, really, reeeeaaallly, fking cheesy as video game sequence.....and its facepalm worthy. Then this whole movie seems to be where all the characters took: SCREAM!: +100% to all character Main Attributes, +100% to Damage, +250% to shield damage
I unscrew the top of my head, remove my brain, put it in a jar, pop some popcorn, pour a tall and tasty beverage and watch this movie. And Battleship. And Starship Troopers. And 2012. And The Rock. And Ghost Rider. And Con Air. And Clash of the Titans. And Face Off. And Cowboys and Aliens. Removing the brain first prevents damage.
I hope that a (INDEPENDENCE DAY) show series gets made someday. Now I imagine in a (INDEPENDENCE DAY) series it might be able to do a proper storyline to be written for the 2nd. chapter, and I can imagine that the right type of actors, and actresses might get picked to play the characters.
@@crankysconga I’m operating on the assumption he’s a hype bot for 20th century studios but they used an incorrect format when slotting in the movie/franchise name. I too hope [error: read manual] becomes a regular occurrence on [insert media format here], in case the great studio behind it decides to dig it back up after [duration not found].
I'll never forget how I felt watching independence day at the drive in movie theater. I'd love to forget how I felt when I saw independence day: Resurgence
I always hate stuff like this because these fighters could be hitting this thing with missiles from literally miles and miles away, being this close is ONLY a movie thing. In reality the aircraft wouldn't need to be this close
It's funny how people think it weird that the queen can't hit the bus. Like they've never seen a disaster movie before: if you're with Jeff Goldblum, you survive. Otherwise, the odds are poor.
It's funny how the writers for this movie did such a horrible job at hiding the plot armor in this sense. Somehow the queen can shoot jets at point blank with one bullet but she misses all of her shots when she tries shooting the school bus
There's literally no explanation of why the queen's shield went down at that moment and not the other times when she is getting shot at. wtf? Also, they are all delivering their lines like it's the last thing they want to be doing
