Great video Roger. My grandson insisted on watching this video with me before he went to bed. He was later going to bed than usual but watching this video made him happy and he's now fast asleep.
A fun video!!! I recently got a Kirby G6. I bought it because it is made so heavy duty and works well. I have heard you can still buy any part you need for them. It vacuums well!
My Kirby Sentria II started making that sound shortly after I bought it. There is a plastic deflector in the fan case that directs the dirt up into the bag. It's just glued in with silicon. It is probably loose and hitting the fan. That was my issue.
I imagine that would make a lot more noise. Both my Sentria and my Diamond had loose peices of silicone hanging from the top of the fan case, that's probably what it is.
My Mom bought a Kirby in the early sixties and it came with a lifetime rebuild warranty...In The 90s she sent it back to the factory in Cleveland Ohio and it came back a month later like BRAND NEW!!! and all she paid was shipping.
thank you Roger!!! From the US, great vid! The Oreck is a motorized sweeper, that's about it. Miss my Hoover celebrity with the powerhead. Bought it at the (then) local church thirft store for $8. Being a Flight attendant, do rebase often so.......have to sell off my vacuums.
I'm American but have also lived in the UK before (I lived in London 2004-2007 and studied craniofacial science at King's College London). I grew up with the Kirby Tradition and learned to vacuum the house with that model. I would love to find one mint condition with full kit one day. I love the blue-granite and silver look of it.
@ 32:53 Ha!! How the dirt trembles in the presence of Kirby Ultimate G! I used to demo/sell them a few years back, and compared them with many others. Nothing consumer grade beats their suction, (look at the carpet lift off the floor) and that roller really gives the carpet a beating! Thanks for the nostalgia! I hope to own one someday! :) Great videos! Great channel! ...And thanks for the respect given to USA's independence! :) Cheers!
I just skimmed your review - and yes, I see how it performs much like the Ultimate G! Of all the demos\show-downs I did, I do recall now that there was one vacuum my grandmother had, that did very well versus the Kirby, and it was a similar antique Hoover model, perhaps from the 70's or 80's. Didn't make a sale that day. :)
Hi Roger, I'm from the states and the song for hoover it beats as it sweeps as it cleans is not Hoover's, the melody was stuck in my head and it sounded familiar , I now know it is a US Marines song from the early 1900's "The Caisson Song" don't know if copy righted, but it is on you tube for any one to listen to.
@6:43 😂 naughty Roger!😉 I do love those little Hoover portable units though, we had a commercial version once upon a time. Well done video again, and I'll keep Dr. Pepper in mind if I ever need to strip furniture, lol. We have smaller cans here in the USA too, they're expensive but they must sell. They label them as the "healthier" ones, only 100 calories or whatever so people will impulse buy. Rest assured we don't all eat/ drink that crap regularly anyway, most of those things I can't recall the last time I've eaten them. Oreos are no longer "American"- apparently they're outsourcing those to multiple countries these days. Butterfinger may be in the same boat but I'm not entirely sure. I only eat those around Halloween anyway but those fun size and mini ones are a nice little treat.
ShrinkDavid 1982 I was thinking that too, sugar and aspartame?! Then he was saying some other chemical and I thought maybe it could be phenolketonurics or whatever the heck it's called. All I know is there was a warning that those things have been known to cause leukemia in lab rats and it was enough for me. Plus all those fake sugars, even the "natural" sugar substitutes (like stevia) cause me to have diarrhea within the half hour, not trying to be gross here but that's a good enough indication to me to stay away from all of that stuff! If I want a little sweet I just add fresh fruit to water or drink some cactus or maple water.
Yeah, Diet Pepsi now has Splenda only but its does horrors to my stomach. I am all water now and I will add fruit, lime or cucumber for flavor when needed. I feel much better without it but will occasionally give in.
why have I not been able to find any of those hoovers in Scotland?? -- seem to have better performance than most I have found!!! Where can I get the ones in the video here in Scotland?? PLEASE let me know ASAP.
I thought the UK Kirby's were built in the UK. Think there was a factory in Glasgow. Sure there is a Ruby Wax documentary where she visited the factory.
ibaisaic you are so right, the best thing to drink is water. By the way I grew up with Kirby, My grandmother had hers from the 1940's and my mother had a classic lll. I bought a new G3 25 years ago and just bought a Sentra ll 2 yrs ago. So I know Kirby
Actually getting Kirby come from Scotland. I think it was originally made in Scotland. I could be wrong I wish somebody would let me know if I was right or wrong
