India is poised for another growth boom in the coming years, fueled by improved infrastructure, increased financial inclusion, and less red tape, yet it remains a difficult place to do business, says Manu Bhaskaran, founding CEO at Centennial Asia Advisors.
India has experienced periodic growth spurts but lacks the sustained high growth needed to surpass China. Challenges such as goods trade deficit and limited participation in global value chains continue to pressure its currency and constrain economic expansion. However, steady growth in modern value-added services, infrastructure development, and a young population make India an attractive destination for foreign investment, which is seen as a ‘shortcut’ to inclusive growth. Foreign investments play a crucial role in establishing robust supply chains and increasing export competitiveness. Manu Bhaskaran highlights the need for India to leverage the on-going global economic shifts by attracting investments to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and maintain high growth levels.

He is right when he says India needs to do more and at a greater speed. But we are a democratic nation. Look at farm protests changing things isn't easy in India
@vickyverma6852
@vickyverma6852 Месяц назад
Democratic countries are very easy to manipulate by outside forces, that's why the west keeps promoting democracy for all poor countries to keep them poor. The farm laws would have helped India to easily add 1 to 2 percent to the GDP growth, easily reaching the 9 to 10% range. But a lot of countries don't want that to happen so they funded those violent protests against the laws. Even that wicked Thunberg was paid to speak on it, though I'm sure she doesn't know the capital of India.

The Good thing is the recent Union Budget is addressing these issues that Manu highlighted. However, the next set of reforms in India needs to happen at the levels of State Govt, they have more regulatory control over factors of production compared to the Central Govt.

The root cause of India problems has been wrong leadership that was put in place by British since 1947. China had good leader, Deng Xiaoping, that was instrumental in its transformation. However recent leadership is not up to the mark, which is evident from the problems in China now. While India now got better leaders, it takes time to shed wrong practices and go on the path of growth, provided the democratic system supports. India certainly has more challenges to economic growth than China. However, India will experience a long-time steady growth due to the systems in place. While China would face increasingly challenging growth prospects due to its own systems in place. In the long-term they will both be of similar stage and stature.

The current Modi govt is right wing in ideology but socialist in policy. He has been killing indias tax paying salaried class. Indias gdp growth is just rich oligarchs getting richer without any increase in jobs. India as usual shows great promise but underperforms. The politicians and their myopic psychopant followers will keep India poor and in the best case sceanrio we may become a high middle income country.
