I recently went to visit Bhutan and it was in October 2022. I had the worst time there because of the stupid money rules of Bhutan government. Those of you planning to visit Bhutan cheaply just listen to their demands(yes I am saying it "demands"). They expect every Indian entering bhutan has the same amount of money as an European or an american tourist showering them with money.I am listing things I had to pay for before even entering the country: 1. An SDF fee of 1200 per person per day (if u stay fr 3 days its 1200*3) 2. A health insurance which was very sketchy with no extra information of damages it cover 3. A guide is necessary. 4. Guides will not travel in public transport so a freaking cab. 5. A minimum of 2 star hotel as accomodation The list is not complete....... 6. They fuckin charge you for entering their temples. It ranges from 300 to 2k(for tiger nest). 7. They also have the gall to expect tips. I cant belive Bhutan Government can just outright demand this. The people there are very well mannered and our driver was very cooperative and cool. Its his words I am saying and its gonna hurt" The bhutan government wants money and dont want poor Indians to visit them". This is what he told us. We were expecting Bhutan to be expensive but we spent about a total of 30k and not even able to see half of the places in bhutan. 30k for 2 person.

Who told to you travel by general coach. Best train option is Brahmaputra Mail or North East Express. Otherwise Rajdhani upto New AlipurDuar/ New Cooch Behar. Then by taxi / Bus to Jaigaon India , then cross over to international border town Phuentshling for visa process / route Pass from Immigration counter . Always carry your PP, Aadhar Card, DL or Voter ID. Then by taxi or coaster buses to Thimphu or Paro as per your wish. Be ready to pay Rs. 1200 per person per night as environment tax to Bhutan Govt. And Hotels foodings, taxies are expensive up in Bhutan.
