What is the significance of the US-India relationship?
What are India’s aspirations at the global level?
What role does India play in the US-India strategic partnership?
Featuring:
Samir Saran, President, ORF

Indian critics in the US should clearly understand that India was invaded by Islam and converted people to Islam. After that when the Islamic population increased, in 1947, India was divided into 3 pieces and 2 Islamic nations were created because Muslims, according to the Quran, should not live with non-Muslims, a rule that did not apply to Islam when they invaded India and lived in India. Anyways, under these circumstances, there is no justification for so-called "Islamophobia" in India. The US should be consistent and dependable in every incident and 24*7*365. The US is unpredictable even for Israel and Europe. Indian students are being killed frequently in the US and Khalistan terrorists have been receiving open support to publicly appeal for dividing India. The US has been accused of the so-called "Islamophobia" from within and without the nation but the US wants to criticize India, for 'Islamophobia".

1. Even though the Quad is not declared as a military alliance a number of steps have been taken to have a seamless transition, if and when that is required. 2. India has brought many frontline military assets like the P8i, MQ-9 Drones, Sea Hawks, Apaches, Chinooks and many more. Firstly Indian pilots are getting trained on these platforms which can enable induction of more number quickly in times of conflict. 3. Development of MRO facilities in India will help US access these facilities in times of conflict. Many shipyards are already tied up for warship repair. All this means that India is well on its way to become a forward base for USA in India. 4. The P8is of India, Us and Australia are already working in tandem to cover the entire Indian Ocean to track Chinese submarines and ships. 5. The foundational agreements signed in the closing days of the Trump presidency (God bless Secretary of State Pompeo for his commitment)

Mark 1:03:30 or thereabouts; was the most interesting part of this session for me, where Samir Saran equates the US with China. That tight slap aside; if the Indian government has come about to this view, then the US has lost India. Already, I see many geopolitical strategists accuse the US of financing terror against India after the Pannun episode. If US policymakers don't exert to retrieve this relationship (and India will like place all the onus on the US to do so); the US should expect to enter the emerging global order with atleast two major economies, if not more, decisively hostile to it! Aggravating India, as a measure of retribution for its refusal to toe its line on Ukraine, is just one more in a series of disastrous moves made by the US State Dept in its practice of diplomacy, post the Ukraine conflict!!

I think , India Russia relations have a bright future ahead with or with out QUAD or any form of Strategy US thinks its building with India. One thing the Indian voter despise is hypocrisy. In India relationships are defined by wholeness and complete loyalty for the better or for the worse unlike compartmentalised as seen in western hemisphere. This relationship with US shall sustain only so far as when the US demands India of something that's against Indianness and its values as it perceive and not whats written in the US foreign policy. India is going no where. Its here to stay, with out without US.

China's foreign policy is pretty clear. Regarding TW it has been there since 1945. Taiwan is part of China and their claim to SCS has been around for more than 100 years. There is nothing fundamentally changed in their foreign policy. With regard to India they never accept UK drawn India and China border. Democracies is not much of democracy. Take US for example it has been illegally occupying Diego Garcia and Diego Garcia is also leased illegally by UK to US. Democracy built a frame work of laws that only apply to other countries and they change this law to suit themselves. Classic example illegal iraq war, one China policy, occupation of Diego Garcia, and also imposing sanction with an attitude that this is a thing that only US can but the rest should not retaliate.

Modi is a man from the streets. He understands poverty. He understands how to reach people and is willing to do so. American attitudes have to change and hopefully they will. Look at the American View, when Mr. Saran said India is eye to eye with China and in deploying its troops it is keeping China in check elsewhere. She thinks it is doing it in Indian interests. What do you think America is doing? It is not interested in Global Democracy for its own sake. It hopes that it will be able to enter and make money!! Gain control via manipulation of local governments and policies. America wants Democracy around the world so it can be King and manipulate all these governments with its money and clout. That is why it fears Indian growth and attitudes. This conversation is evidence of that fact. A simple answer to the question where does UK fit in? Nowhere.... UK is on the decline and has punched above its weight for far too long. It should be relegated to the dustbin of history where it belonged and should belong forever. What has America done with its Native Americans? Thrown them in reservations? Given them Autonomy over some namesake land? Get outta here... For a south asia exert she is so ill informed about history of riots in India.... LOL! She just parrots whatever she is reading the things that Sameer pointed out as lies... 42:38 The cynical American attitude is revealed here explicitly- She couldn't bear the himalayan border remark bcoz India isn't on the maritime frontline. # In the end, it will be just tech transger, squeezing US like the EU, infact more than the EU in terms of lvls & laterals of engagement. - US concern of loneliness not being able to assimilate either in the EU or elsewhere is openly welcomed emotion. - It is this emotion perhaps, that will limit the engagement time & again. - But after a certain threshold, unlike other countries which despite being developed are limited by many restraints (size and limited peak in GDP terms like Japan & korea) to deliver more neck to neck with the US, with growing complexities, India will that Partner, US needs to safeguard its emotions- dollars or judo- Christian!

Fantastic discussion. Samir Saran rocks. He has single-handedly handled the hostile questions and shown the mirror. The simple statement of his not finding it important to include the UK in his itinerary for two years did explain a lot. I hope the Spokespersons of various think tanks will not try to mess with the most vibrant democracy by Weaponising facts, basing opinions on noise and so on.🎉 to Samir Saran.

During this election season all had been discussing, who after NaMo? Well, I had an additional and equally big concern, who after Shri S Jaishankar? Well, I guess today I witnessed my second concern getting addressed. Even if it might not be Samir, I'm pretty confident that there are people like Samir in the ranks to take Bharat's flag forward from where Shri S Jaishankar leves it, as and when he leaves. Bharat is in good hands. 👍

Rant, they say when cant hear truth, being pushed back. Unlike propaganda being pushed by USA on Indian minority and democracy backsliding without data, example muslim in India are 14% of Indian population, but get about 30% of all state benefits, in various schemes etc, while whats been said about USA is 100% correct, And USA has a habit of lecturing others, when they are way worse in handling human rights be it gun violence by police or other number based biometrics of performance to judge the fact.

As an INDIAN lets be very FREAKING CLEAR, We dont bloody share "your" values, WE HAVE OUR OWN VALUES, WE ARE DIFFERENT. The only reason we are collaborating is because of shared INTERESTS. THATS IT! 1:00:33, this lady shamelessly virtue signals, Its like INDIA picking up some BLM incident & virtue signaling. Its our internal matters, WE ARE A DEMOCRACY BECAUSE WE WANT TO BE DEMOCRACY, Lets not forget how your regime supported the GENOCIDE of Bengalis in 1971 or you still run concentration/torture camps in Guantanamo Bay or the n- number of Hr violations your conducted under the pretext of "War on Terror".!!!

I watched this video on Chatam house, but comment section on that channel is off. Tells a lot about American and western democracy. What a perfect slam by Samir. Lisa you must know, Indians are still holding back and not responding in kind. You named a political party of India which was not diplomatic at all. But remember this, you are opening the doors for Indians to say the same about your political situation. Yes, you have lot of media under your control to amplify your comments, but social media has already trumped mainstream media (that you control). Yes, the social media platforms are still from USA(but Indians have the greatest presence), but it can change if they are abused to push a narrative to 1.4 B people of India. If you weaponize the faults in Indian society (which Indians are working to correct), you would get push back and it won't be as sugar coated like it was by Samir. So as Samir said, "deal with it".
