The Indian government opposes any move to give political space to those advocating “violence” and extremism, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Friday in response to the Canadian parliament observing a moment of silence for pro-Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
“We naturally oppose any moves giving political space to extremism and those advocating violence,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at a regular press briefing.

That's a garbage ranking. Those individuals making the evaluation either haven't set foot on Indian soil( very likely) or they are going by one or two examples- and even those one or two are not that bad. What is so great about the media of other countries? What are they doing that is so noble or free spirited? There is all kinds of criticism of the Indian government, directly and indirectly, in Indian newspapers, magazines, journals, TV channels, the internet. Then there is also the whole vernacular media.The press freedom rankers, haven't read a small fraction of them.
