In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

what this idiot is talking about ?? Its observer's problem and Indian Roads / streets are ok ? it is not chaotic ?? Guys 125000 people die on our roads every year !! 10 times of that people are wounded or partially disabled in road accidents ! 4000 + people die on kerala roads every year ! We need to make sufficient infrastructure , scientific road /traffic planning , add city infrastructure etc ! Traffic symbals / signals / road markings are every where in the world which people can easily understand ! No need to know language :D What an idiot !

@@sajithmarakar Try to understand the crux of what he is trying to say. He is talking about a unitary outlook towards thinking instead of including different diversity of outlook. So the outlook needs to be modified and not the one which is being judged. It's you who is an idiot!!

He is not prescribing something. What he is saying is that Indian society has found ways of living DESPITE poverty, corruption, colonialism, diversity. To create such solutions, requires a lot of creativity and lots of different responses. Together these responses have EVOLVED workable solutions. Dont compare everything to the west and complain. They have been working with unnatural advantages such as colonialism and reserve currencies and intellectual talent from around the world as they present as dominant central cultures that draw resources from everywhere.

This is simply brilliant talk.. I have been curious to learn what lets india move, grow and sustain. I guess this is a great explanation! We have been missing live patterns amongst our preceptive chaotic observations. Our perception of chaos is driven by our mind which is conditioned by orderly arrangements and controls. By accepting chaotic patterns and believing that something co-existing has the potential to beat our mind we expand our horizon and let the complexity flow along with simplicity. Lord Mahavir has spoken on a similar point - Multi dimensionality, He has used a word 'Anant-a-nant" which means Infinite infinities. He meant that universe is not just infinite but it is infinite infinities. He meant that there are inifinite directions and nature provides the opportunities to all of them. And all of this not controlled from above but regulated from within...

Bravo Mr. Pattnaik! Love the concept of negotiated boundaries and the necessity of all-encompassing patterns for a country like India. The whole argument dissolves the plaque in the mindsets of Indians and Westerners alike, who think that the lack of linear easily perceived patterns always boils down to chaos. I have always found a sense of belonging and comfort, and a large number of possibilities amidst a chaotic setup. Wonder if anyone else feels the same.

@Jo-pv4jx
@Jo-pv4jx 5 лет назад
Vijay josh I... Discipline makes things run smoothly, no doubt, but it has to start from oneself, one's family and relatives and spread to one's community. Just talking about it does not help. It is very difficult to get Indians from India , to change their habits when they come to the west. I speak from experience.! it is only when they get fined for spitting on the pavement, for example, that they actually stop. Fortunately the law is strictly followed by the law makers in the west,which unfortunately cannot be said of India. In India, money talks

But some commenters seem to take pattern or pattern recognition as a negative judgement, something less valuable than western sharpened, efficient, onedimensional order categories. Guess that's a misunderstanding. Both are patterns. Both use patterns. Every human mind does. West and indian. The indian is a more complexe one. By necessity. No judgement of better or worse. To me, It doesn't seem to be an excuse for civil social situations by the author. Its an explanation to understand the much higher demands towards an ordering system and makes aware of hurdles from too monolithic constraints. Chaos=absence of subjective perceiveable order Pattern=a way i perceive single things bundled in a frame of sensemaking Order= a feeled judgement subject makes when he/she found pattern he/she likes. Can be low or high complex depending on the abilities of the thinker. So, for me it souns like the author can be also understood as: an educated indian way of perceiving is far more advanced and multidimensional than the European one that can effort to seek simplicity and is not challenged to make the msth with a complexer human factor. just my impressions after watching. .. Might be wrong.
@yashsharma5778
@yashsharma5778 5 лет назад
I do not think you are wrong at all. Human society works to survive. There is collective subconscious at play here. Nobody gets what they want completely every single time. Collective subconscious of a species has its way to accommodate differences. It is harmony under apparent chaos. That is why we have theories like the butterfly effect, law of attraction, Karmic theories etc. Every single being is like a gear to the machinery of the collective subconscious. None of them is wrong or unimportant, but everyone is a necessary piece for the machinery. And rarely can anyone consciously acknowledge its existence. Again this is just my opinion.
@purabi123

But can westerners function without order? What is obsessive compulsive disorder? Need of order.
@yashsharma5778
@yashsharma5778 5 лет назад
Dc Poorvi As Mr Twine said order is subjective. If a person finds a patern he/she likes, it is order for them. Westerners find pride in their order and for good reasons. They have been at the pinacle of all economic developments so far. So when one is born and brought up in such an environment developing pride is natural....

omg..... I can relate this to every little thought that has ever crossed me....... it's like whether to adopt or to change. And what is the key to happiness or satisfaction from both of these? Is it that the observer should change the way he sees or feels certain things or are the things actually right or wrong after some point or there is nothing like right or wrong, they are the perceptions. I might not be making any sense right now but just trying to organize the kiosk or embrace the diversity that is going on in my mind right now.
