Shekhar and his pro bjp activities are a big deterrent for us to think of any support! Wire, scoop whoop, quint they all deserve a big applause! Shekhar was tolerable once a week with that toy show called walk the talk any more of him is highly annoying and misses the mark!
Surprised. To learn that Shekhar Gupta is a BJP supporter. Hope he does not belong to the “ Hindutva. Ghar Vapsi’” crowd that split the Secular India that I knew into two and will split it into 3-4 more parts if it continues this unIndian policy
I am in the US and tried to contribute Rs 5000 but not successful Tried to put in Us $ on the contribution website. Did not work. I am a novice at this & maybe that’s my problem. Also hope Shekhar Gupta is NOT a Hindutva supporter. If so I will bypass The Print Print whose format & style I support so far.
AH's hell bent on promoting war instead of peace. All news reporting links n nations. other wise how can they use their respective laptops. ✌ The orginal symbol of peace. Embrace it with dedication. . The only option / solution available. Don't waste time n energy. ✌
Don't you think it is same like old Indian Bollywood movie when hero goes for negotiation first he brought revolver from his pocket put it on table and then starts negotiations😂😂

“Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.” - Winston Churchill who brought victory to Great Britain in the 2nd World War. India must fully prepare itself for the two front war & the leadership must remain in full diplomatic touch with our friendly nations. Chinese Communists want to become Super Power by thefts. They stole Spratly Islands to sit on the Malacca Straits to control Indo-Pacific & made illegal passage to gain illegal access to Indian Ocean through PoK & Baluchistan, the two territories illegally occupied by Pakistan. The world powers won't accept two thieves - the rogue Communists & their rogue Pakistani Generals who used their stolen territories to train terrorists to bleed world powers & neighboring Afghanistan. Both the thieves will lose all their illegal possessions.
@Bubbly Srinath Do you think we ever went to war for USA ? If war is forced onto us from Chinese we mustn't shy away. Any other mindset of no war, peace etc will lead to us loosing Ladakh.
Long time Indian leaders and administration successfully kept India out of trap of USA and western power and saved nation interest. But now we trapped. China hit India to teach lesson US. Danka Baja ki Dhol hi fat Gya.
Sir your views seems to be telling India to understand Chinese mind and act accordingly.. Do u think any self respecting power can think like that.. I don't agree with you sir.. Although respect you..
I feel that china is having thoughts that the POK Gilgit Baltistan area will be annexed by India & then the Aksai Chin, once the 1st thing happens Pakistan is in no way to resist Indian forces & their Karakorum Highway is lost along with Shaksgam valley area, then there will be real danger of the BRI not getting completed or not getting completed without giving astronomically heavy concessions to India.
Mr. Gupta .. I believe China wants something else. You have to think like a Chinese to divert focus to something else. These are, 1. Control of water and choke India and other countries. By controlling water, China dictates terms, build dams and get new green posture in China by diverting water. 2. China is after dominance of lithium and control all lithium based manufacturing i.e. electric cars and batteries. It seems, that are contains rich amount of lithium which will elevate China dominance from 60% to 90+% 3. By controlling 1&2 above, it control another 1.3 billion people. It's economic & financial might! 4. Last 4 months during lockdown, China have purchased another 400 million barrels of oil, taking their reserve to 600, over and above of daily purchase of 12 million. This is an indicator, China is up to something ...
India can counter Chinese aggression by relying on Russia, the Quad group of nations, joining hands with the nations that oppose Chinese claims in the south China sea, renew the ties with Taiwan, actively voice the concerns about Hong Kong & Uyghurs & reactivate Tibetan activists & finally the pandemic probe demand.
Although SG said he was not talking about Sun Tzu, in the end, it was one of Sun Tzu's famous quotes: “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
What will coercive diplomacy mean when they have already captured our land and have already altered the status quo unilaterally . They are not going from pangong tso until we launch a military operation against them.
like a natural urge to date woman, when their military matures with technological advancement, they need to project power and test the preparedness of their immediate threat.
starting war is easy, ending it in your favor is difficult. trade war is easy and safer, we should continue with it. but troupes and air force should be there to stop any further misadventure. hopefully thing will return to normal and negotiations are successful.
Sir, can you please improve the audio quality, it is okayish with headphones, but while watching it on TV or on speakers the audio is pretty bad. Also, thank you for bringing such quality journalism to us. Much appreciated.
In Yun Sun's article she seems to be saying that the DBO road is the primary reason why China is acting like it is right now. She tells that the DBO road has been constructed in what China perceives as its own territory at a time China is facing a lot of backlash from the rest of the world... But that is not true. The DBO road has been constructed on territories which are to the Indian side of what even the Chinese perceive as the LAC. So there is no question that the road has been constructed in Indian Territory.
This will backfire globally for China Boycott Chinese products demonstrations like the one that happened outside Chinese consulate in Chicago should happen all over the cities of the Western world till boycott China becomes a global phenomenon At the same time Bharat should mass produce long range anti ship missiles for a blockade of Chinese commercial ships in the Indian Ocean along with priming of the capability to shoot down their satellites
I am a Goan Catholic, born raised educated & worked in india for the first 50 years of my life then immigrated to the US 33 years ago. About 5 months ago I started getting to know Shekar Gupta & Print & am enamored with its style & presentation & has revived my hope & interest in the land of my birth. As far as Tibet is concerned we should again start referring to it as Autonomous region of Tibet & NOT Chinese Tibet . More later
For that concept India had to just take back the policy about not first used policy for nuclear weapons this will be enough for Chinese to understand about it's coercive diplomacy..Both Nations can't afford war we know that and if war happen India Will get benefits too, India had faced 4 major war they have great strategy and experience and china have don't.
I wish to see such clarity of opinion from other TV news channels, especially the Indian subsidiary of #TheGlobalTimes -> #NDTV .. the forever Anti-India mouthpiece!
1. Cultural stereotypes are in media mind and not a mindset of Indian Armed Forces. 2. Contemporary thinking is job of diplomats and politicians. We are dealing with communists and a dam powerful one. Forget about it. Its now a game of our solders and commanders who have free hand to deal with whatever comes in. 3. Idea is to go for war if thats what it comes too. Media should not be afraid of live ammunition. 4. Any foreign country interest is non of India’s business. If Chinese comes, they will Be ruthlessly dealt with. Stop drawing any parallels. 5. Any diplomacy done in past with Pakistan is totally a wrong analogy when it comes to China 6. No compromise.
The largest democracy as neighbour with movements in Hong Kong and Taiwan and simmering Tibet and xinciang!in this age of technology, the leadership understands I the difficulty in keeping the aspirations of their people suppressed especially with rising middle class that's affluent and entrepreneurship rising!all that India has to do is to support those movements besides demonstrating that it cannot be taken granted for an India of 1962.
Shekhar ji, China is now disgraced by many nations due to its irresponsible and irrational actions on COVID-19 Pandemic. China may be fearing that some countries (USA, UK, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia India and few more) may take advantage of the situation and compell China to relinquish its stand on "South China sea". Perhaps China wants to keep India out from "South China sea" episode, therefore this "coercive diplomacy" with India. But, the point is, should India accept China's supremacy 'or' should India retaliate to China's hegemony ?
Chinese has a vision for long time, of becoming World leader in all aspects and to replace America and they work towards it tirelessly. The world cannot just ignore China overnight because 1. their entire supply chain will come to a stqndstill, in some way or other becaus they are dependent for on the goods / rawmaterials e.t.c e.t.c 2. Over the period of time, chinese build their assests and businesses all over the world and not just in one region, so businesses are in the hands of Chinese 3. Chinese have given credit to so many countries to build their infrastructure and invested on businesses and has control on their natural resources 4. Today India's all neighbours are in the paws of China, india is no longer dominant in SAARC COUNTRIES. And atleast now, the indian administration should wake up and have a short term plan to get back the POK and Akshi Chin and safe gaurd the borders, irrespective of the party in power at centre And it should have long term plans to reduce the number of neighbours and join the non muslim countries like Nepal, Srilanka into India and make them as our States.
If the Chinese had to say something they could have easily said that by visiting here. Bullying the other country and expecting they would get the message will only worsen the situation. Now present Indian generation won't forgot the matrydom of 20 soliders for the next several decades.
India government must do 2 important things immediately. Always be alert and prepare to contain on ccp activities in Indian borders. 2. India must built strong economic like China in ten years time from now to face 21st century challenges is are more complex. India must built world class infrastructure to move it's economic faster like Singapore South Korea or China.
A few things to consider in a war with China. 1)Their soldiers are conscripts mostly from the cities. China population is now 65% urban compared with 10% in 1962. These soldiers won't do human wave attacks like before - they are not going to die for Xi Xin Ping. 2)Don't let the war be a sharp short one. If they withdraw unilaterally send your planes after them. 3)Have plenty of mobile artillery teams to support your troops who should be spread out thinly, advancing in an arc. 4)Sneak many 3man teams armed with manpads into their lines to nail their aircraft. 5)Don't use your airforce at the begining. Let your AAA and SAMS deal with their planes.6) Take out their bridges. 7)Do a lot of psywar on them
Well said. When Musharraf blinked ,we could have declared victory, but came back. I remember ,what one of my acquaintance saud almost at the same time as Kargil ,obviously without any reference to it ,but in reference to another matter that you people come back or withdraw at the crucial moments of action, hinting at Ashok who even after victory ,became pacifist predictably by adopting Buddhism and withdrew from further warfare but not from statecraft and governance ,which is rather strange because ideal position preached and expected was renunciation. Though many good things came out of it,but the art and spirit of war was sapped out of us once for all. So what he meant was that not taking things to finality or its logical conclusion is ingrained in the backbone people of this country.
Chinese biggest fears vis a vis India are Tibet and CPEC for oil. Changing status quo of J&K ..INDIA willing to take back Pok..building up of border roads by India makes them feel threatened on these two fronts.Obviously, they have other areas to worry on Eastern front where they have friction with US n Japan n other states.
Yes everyone know war threat is real... We just don't fire the first bullet...and if china didn't move ...army will make them move...it's for sure... Coz many of those brigades r actually consists of best mountain fighters ...
It took you so long to realize that this time it was real and not a standoff. You thought they brought all the fireworks to merely nibble away 1-2 km of land ! Time to form Volunteer Regiments (only stipend, no salary, no pension).
If we encounter a snake in the home, we don't waste time to ascertain whether it is a poisonous snake or not, much less about its intention, but kill it. This is the normal instinct, born of self-protection need.
Armies must only judge capabilities while diplomats must try to read intentions. China has the capability, therefore our army and civilians controlling the army must prepare.
For sure we cant ignore the aspect of a war in the offing. However, it is important that India doesnt join hands with America. They are powerful but they shouldn't have any conditions on the table if they are to support India. Keen to see how this whole episode shapes up. I pray for our soldiers who lay their lives and those who stand there so we can be safe and sound.
Threat of war exists long back but phatne ki wajha se sab ne aankhen band ki hoi thi indian will answer them soon in upcoming movie... Hope to visit soon ladakh,China... 😁🇨🇳🇵🇰🇳🇵🇹🇷🇱🇰🇧🇩💪
What exactly did India achieve with coercive diplomacy in those 20 years, literally nothing. Only some effects are now visible after Surgical and Air strike.
What good surgical or air strike brought - has insurgency in Kashmir stopped? Peace doesn't come with coercive diplomacy but with concrete measures and statesmen ship.
@@puppopuppo8223 that's exactly what I'm saying, coercive diplomacy only works with real coercion not build up. After Air strike cross boarder terrorism is at a all time low, but obviously indigenous terrorism won't end like that. While in the past during parliament attack what Shekhar is saying is like Pakistan came and slapped India then India gathered some people and went to threaten Pakistan but Pakistan just said a fake sorry and that it won't happen again and India should declare victory with that? That's the most stupid thing ever, and only because of that we had suffer terrorism for 15 more years.
We don't have to ask what they want. We have to see their actions. We have to match their strength in Ladakh. Negotiate from a position of equal strength. If they have occupied our area then we must take appropriate action at the right time. We have to discourage Chinese to bully us
Till now India prepared for Pakistan as an enemy and defeated it but it's time we prepare for CCP China as our enemy and prepare for it in coming years, we will work hard ,defeat it and first of all boycott it together #boycottChina
I think political parties should atleast now understand the threat and support the Government rather than finding fault and diverting attention to trival things.
Yun tsun(hope I got the name correct ) if this scholar thinks that by building up forces around india and threatening us with a war will prevent India from moving towards US then it's a flawed logic this step has more than ever pushed india towards US , I think we must assume that China has taken a calculated risk by assuming that india is an ally of US in progress if not it already is .
All the credit goes to modee and bjp who create and provide this opportunity to china by their stupendous actions like abrogation of 370 and presenting weather reports of ladakh on media, since the modee and the weather of dehli quite calm.
I'm glad a power like China is threatening India. This means India will not have the option of 'sitting it out' in the global power struggle - something our shortsighted politicians default towards. In the next 20-30yrs - India should work towards meeting them head-on while temporarily forming strong alliances with US/Japan
The blunder was when Kashmir status was changed and then when Balakote strikes were done where CPEC goes through. These two blunders have brought Pakistan and China even closer and now India faces war on two fronts.
Sooner or Later War is for Sure but How prepared is India to Defend & Defeat, Do we have Enough EMO to Fight, Why don't India Produce its own Emo rather than Buying them from Other Countries
In Europe and America, people would think it ignorant if someone trashed philosophers like Plato or Socrates. Six decades of a rootless Indian education system has produced many influential individuals uneducated in the liberal arts.
Sir, would highly appreciate a special episode from you about Shri PV Narasimha Rao on his centenary birth anniversary. Please do one, if you can. My generation must know about him. Not many people of today's youth are aware about PV. Your one episode can bring the awareness.
SC is right when he says Chinese do not want India to take sides in the Cold war 2 between USA and China. It is about time India went back to the time tested Nehruvian policy of Non-Alignment till we become Atimnirbhar like Modi wants us to become.
If China is afraid of being surrounded , than he shouldn't have started border dispute with india because that will lead to strengthening of ties between US and India
If u read this and understand well and good, if u dont still better, u dont have to worry or think too much. Chinese being aggressive coz it can afford to. They take a step back atleast they know india will not attack its border trying to "secular" and it's against indian conscience to be the aggressor. In a right or wrong way india needs to thank china for being aggresive coz Indian government invested in arm forces taking china in mind which made it easier for india to face pakistan easily. Food for thought
China is good at playing mind game and keep the enemy guessing. May be this time they picked wrong enemy at the wrong time. It can turn into a nasty situation,
Chinese are not worried about smaller countries around them. They want to contain India and also grab some land from indian control. Even if there is any peace accord is achieved they will do agressions in future also until they achieve their Greater China ambition. If they contain India now they can do it very easily later. India is accumulating state-of-art warfare equipments and propped up its own production. It will be difficult to contain India later. These are the probable reasons to led China to to aggressions along LAC.
Mr. Gupta, you mentioned that General Parvez Musharraf had fallen to Indian 'Coercive diplomacy' (threat of war) and made conciliatory statements then as a result of the same. Do you think the Prime Minister's speech at the APM is somewhat reflective of that of Mr. Musharraf's statement that time? Has Mr. Modi fallen to the Chinese 'threat of war' or do you think the statement was just a 'mistake' and reflective of poor thought process that went through preparing the speech and sluggish way the Indian government offices work?
Let's put this way when China is sinking it will try everything possible but also knows very well that fight for Chinese is the end game for China. Covid19 will kill China this time.
PM Modi said sometime last year, “ our nuclear weapons are not just fireworks for Diwali”. The nuclear weapon is a deterrent, as long as Chuna knows the redlines, China will not cross it. No matter what, China will not want a nuclear hit on Beijing, Hongkong, Shanghai and the concentration of industrial areas. No doubt India will be hit also, however, should this nuclear exchange happen, it will eliminate China’s ambitions to be a world power. As long as India tells China behind closed doors the consequences of aggression and give China time to back off, there is opportunity to reach a solution. Hopefully, India also has tactical battlefield nuclear weapons , use one in the Himalayas if necessary, to send the message loud and clear.
SGji..but China is picking up fight on all fronts possible. Even with countries that are not on its border on bilateral issues, Australia, Canada let alone US. Does it want to apply this coercive diplomacy on all? Or it is just making best of the times we are in to settle issues in its favour.?
Hello Sir, during all this, there are talks on about Chinese grabbing 56kms into Arunachal Pradesh. Is it possible for you to get actual ground report, not just mouth stores. Also, if you can bring Bramha chellani for discussion.
India has 36 lacs Army. Except police. So, it won't be easy for China. Only economy doesn't determine outcome. India can easily train 50 million youths with smaller arms say AK rifle for Guerrilla warfare.
Regardless of what the wolf warriors are up to, just make sure India has equal or greater strategic resources suitably altitude acclimatised (के हिसाब से ढल ke hisaab se dhal) to operate effectively in areas the perceived opposition is located. That is what the PLA is doing, getting lowland personnel altitude ready for where ever the hydra points them..
There are so many "may be' s" Sir I simply didn't get it. Our PM, advisers, Foreign office and Military knows what is best for the country. If you think India don't believe the threat then why there is such a huge buid up and aggressive posturing?
Last time I mentioned that your programs are long and you should keep it within 15 minutes. I have happy that you have done that. Great👍 it becomes really boring if it goes beyond 15 minutes
Let's put facts straight, two countries with comparable population but area wise one is three times the other, and economy wise one is five times the other. The only solution lies in economy. Grow India grow fast for atleast 3 to 4 decades to bridge this GDP & GDP per capita (nominal) gap.
