My suggestion to Kolkata Metro: U guys already installed blue lessor light with effects at EW under the river tunnel, now add some disco lights and open a bar inside the tunnel. It will b really profitable 'under the river bar'. Also, rent the tunnel during the wedding season. Such happens in the London Tube at their 'abandoned' metro tunnel. It will also bring Kolkata one step closer to London.

Metro development is at its slowest in Kolkata where it is needed most. The rest of the cities are flying ahead.

So disappointed 😢 I was so sure that these 3 lines would be inaugurated before the Elections but now not possible but good luck to the New Garia to Ruby strecth. My question is even after 1 year of delay this New Garia stretch was supposed to open in February 2023 but was delayed because of the signalling system and now signalling system is complete but why only 1 train is permitted to run on each track?? And why is the speed restricted to 40 kmph any reason for that? Now I think Howrah-Esplanade is much delayed so it can be opened with the Esplanade-Sealdah section if they both can be fully ready by mid-2024 or the end of 2024, Majerhat and Dum Dum Cantonment can also be opened in the same dates and also please give us an update of the Esplanade-Sealdah section and make a video on the Dakshineswar 90m viaduct extension and the demolition of Skywalk as it was on headlines few months ago. A crossover is immediately needed at Dakshineswar metro station but State is not allowing to demolition even a small part of the Skywalk! What about the rakes on the Orange line the stretch will open sometime in March but there not even enough rakes for Blue line (10 mins frequency) and Purple line. 13 Dalian rakes are still lying in China and the other rakes will not arrive before 2026 so bringing the Dalian is a huge demand! I would appreciate MRB if you read this comment and answer few of my questions With Regards, Thanks.

@@BBD_Bangali I don't know nonsense what you're talking about maybe you're talking about Majerhat-Esplanade metro as it will be completed in 2029. Howrah-Esplanade metro can be inaugurated by the end of 2024 if everything goes according to the plan.

3 additional new BEML rakes were scheduled to arrive at Kolkata by the end of 2023 but now in 2024 they are still not here maybe they will come when Howrah stretch will open.

I am sure of the fact that for east west metro there will be no howrah esplanade service, it will be howrah sealdah from day 1. And the reasons are both technical and economical.

This is underwater metro and that too a first of its kind in India. This was giving an assumed delay in this line.

I think it's laughable that even after 1.5 years of trial runs, the Ruby metro has been allowed to run only 1 metro per track @40Kmph, even with signals. Totally hopeless. Tbh the Green line should now be commissioned directly from Howrah Maidan to Sealdah as lots of finishing & decorative work are left in the 4 stations. Idk why are they even rushing to commission the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section without completing everything. CCRS also mentioned that the Audio advertisements in the rakes are too loud. Idk if metro will look into the matter... it's too loud for the passengers too. Joka metro is a joke anyway so no use discussing it.

Did you all forgot about Mumbai Metro Line 3? A whole article was printed in TOI Mumbai edition of its opening phases. The second underwater Metro will be opened in three phases- one in May, the second having the underwater Tunnel in July and rest by September-October. Mumbai is gearing up for its 4th Metro Line.

The Sector 5 station is named as Sec 5 on the Sealdah line and IT Sector on the Airport line. Why is there a difference in nomenclature? Does this mean that in the future, if we want to go to Airport or New Garia from say Karunamoyee, then we have to disembark at Sector 5 and buy a new ticket for Airport/New Garia?

there are certain equipment attached to the undercarriage of each rake between the wheels on both sides. If that space is not left on the tracks, then those equipment will graze against the concrete which will be a disaster in case of an elevated section....

​@@silentsolitude2000They are asking about the empty space below the platform, effectively making the platform jut out. Your explanation is not quite right anyway. In any case, the support pillars extend even further than the platform. That platform design is for they suspect, to provide emergency refuge. The undercarriage equipments is contained within the body frame of the carriage.

This metro line was expected to be delayed as this is the first of its kind metro in India. Every firat of a kind project faces delays as a lot of tevhmologies and operational realities are understood while working hand-on as theres no readymade work book available. Note- I know there are many underwater metros and trainline in the world, but every underwater project is unique and has its own unique challenges.

@MRB As the highlighted issues are not much serious when can we expect revised dates of operation to Esplanade? June 2024 and Esplanade to Sealdah in JUNE 2027? As my 4 th year ends in 2025 I am planning to go for MTech(2025-27) so that on return I could experience Line 2 fully operational...or might take more days....God knows......

The issue is not privatisation. Even DMRC is a complete governmnet PSU! The issue is the West Bengal/WASTE Bengal governments' lethargy and desire to create obstacles towards the Metro. Obstacles such as land aquisition delay, delay in clearances, protests, exiting the project etc. Even if a private company comes in... the TMC goons would extort money from the private companies!

It will take full 2024 to resolve the 50 issues, after that the crs will inspect again and again will found 20-30 issues out of 50 most probably and to resolve that it will take full 2025, hoping for 2026

Noting can happen to Kolkata city development and its metro. It is cursed. Why are there so many obstacles on city development and metro inauguration? Its now 2024 and metro works are too backward than other cities. Kolkata has lost its gory. This city and metro cant compete with other cities and metro systems. And now you need to wait another 50 years to complete entire Kolkata metro project.

At least they are giving the funds, state government is not giving any single rupee to the metro. All other metros of India are run by authorities with 50% funds by central government and the other half by state government except Kolkata metro. Mamta is busy to provide women of Bengal to provide satisfaction to her party workers.
