This is hypocrisy that BBC is discussing this. They spent their own money. Used a facility they own. Unlike British royalty, who uses taxpayer's money for the wedding of its family members and whose own wealth partly came from plundered India's wealth.
@@alessandragrieco3469 Who are you to judge whether they are intelligent or foolish?? If they were foolish they wouldn't be able to become one of the richest of entire Asia. I don't know why Europeans are feeling jealous about them. If a father wants to spend for his son out of his earned wealth, there is nothing wrong! At the end of the day, a man earns only for his family.
How about spending billions on nuclear weapons, wars, space explorations, scientific research, and technologies.. We should have given that money to poor right?
They celebrated it more because its was the last marriage in the Ambani family for this generation. Next wedding they will have after 30 years of their kids.
Yes, attention , to the beautiful wonders and talents from people of this universe and then the awesome cultures and traditions of the different States of India and the Customs! You got to see all in one go on the same ground! Wealth well spent to promote this Great India as well as give a good wedding for their last child in the family 👌👌👌 👏👏👏❤️
That wedding is not even 1% of Ambani wealth, so middle class people shouldn't copy them. Ambani's used their own properties i.e Jio World Convention Centre and their own home. Looks like they wanted to advertise it for future orders.
A poor roadside vegetable vendor here in my neighbourhood invites more than 2000 guests to his wedding to a sumptuous feast. Comon, the Ambanis are rich, even by your standard.

@MaroonRays why do percentages even matter? If you have wealth to feed the hungry then you should. Having a lavish wedding like this is a waste of money. They are full of pride and greed. They are selfish. They don't think about the people who are suffering. God is not pleased.
A Briton complaining about Inequality 😂. Britons are unable to pay their bills with sky high Inflation and hundreds of thousands have slipped into poverty are complaining about Inequality 😂. According to World Bank and IMF, 400mn people were lifted out of poverty in India in the last 15 years. Instead of funding Royal Weddings on tax money why don't they spend the money on making shelters for the homeless in Britain? Atleast in India, the Ambanis used their money and not the public's tax money.
They are billionaires and did a lavish wedding that made no difference in their fortune. Some people have nothing and spend thousands on a wedding. Do you really think that they are the ones overspending and wasting money on a ceremony? Anyway, everybody has the right to live life their way and spend their money as they please.
No body needs to discuss the way the bride and the groom feel about each other . It’s totally a private affair . Can we Indian question about William and Kate or harry and Megan and say whether there was love
Grow up guys ! Typical British colonial disdain and Nitish shamelessly bringing on the inequality without reason as much Inequality in UK or SFO if u care and care to open your eyes.If South Korea can come up with Cultural products india can do much better with its unmatched marriage and family ecosystem which should have been the focus of discussion. Pl do some basic research before commenting on the groom or couple or Vantara.Besides the opulence this marriage has opened the room for growth of Indian culture and a welcome relief from British monarchy staged dull and dreary stuff.May be the BBC do not want to see the Indian market grow and it's evident from the nature of discussion.
considering an average Indian spends 25% of it's wealth(don't come to preach, we are happy spending on our weddings rather than 50% on divorce), he spent less than 0.5% of his wealth...um that's kinda nothing
BBC should first do a program on the 45 trillion USD that Britain owes to India after 76 years. Why nobody is talking about it.Manchester was built on indian skill and cotton and BBC should be ashamed to do such onesided program without content .Give tbe 45 trillion and Indias poverty will disappear at one shot or UK should become part of India to reverse 200 years of loot of its wealth which made the worlds richest country poor in first place.
BBC pray tell how much of the taxpayers money was spent on the British royal weddings over the years? At least the Ambani's spent their own money and pumped it into the economy. They also spent their money helping others before and after the wedding.
Simply put it was a circus where every trapeze artist - big or small was invited. Again the famous quote 'money does not bring class' is befitting for Ambanis.
British Royal Wedding and Coronation is telecasted and celebrated all over. When India has its own Royal Wedding the journos looking for criticism, it's so hard for these people to accept the fact that something like this can happen in a third world country and once a British Colony.
The thing is ,, the royal family are the countrys head of state not just another billionaire family. Plus the royal family brings in money to the govt than it takes out
Not the same thing. King / Queen is head of state and part of the government system. 1/2 of the population in the UK is not living in slums or literal garbage dumps? Why are Indians so proud of this? Why are Indians clawing their way trying to get into English speaking countries? Why are Indian international students refusing to leaving Canada? Imagine if they got the proper tax money from these wasteful people, Indians could stay home, and wound have to live in slums

Ambani doesn't need to fit into the western style of quiet wedding on the countryside. He is the 11th richest man in the world for crying out loud. Why does a wedding need to be quiet? Its a celebration. The amount of money he spent on his son's wedding is like a drop in his bucket of wealth. It didn't even make a dent.
We, Indian, love to flaunt our money on weddings... majority of Indian parents start to save money for their siblings soon they were born depends on your income ( Akash & Radhika's weddings were most expensive wedding the world have seen ever)...Annant & Radhika were in love from their school days and I wish them to be very happy and healthy life together..
Did Prince Charles love Diana when they got married???? I agree, don't be cynical lady asking about whether Radhika loves Anant...I think they love each other a lot n their marriage will definitely last longer than most Royal marriages!!
@@GyanPrakash dude i went from small village to Bombay and also dehli i saw both aspects yes there are many super rich and sooo many middle class and many poor in India but your exaggerating it a lot🙂
Ruch people and poor people in India is really difference. Rich people like him spend even 100 to 200 millions to have a wedding. Instead of that lot of poor people in India they don't have places to live, food to eat. Wish they have a revolution to develop their country at the same. Don't distinguish among people.
When the rich do something, it will generate income. The Ambanis pulled off a massive marketing campaign that will generate income for Indian businesses, especially the textile and jewellery industries. The British destroyed the Indian textile industry.

@@ak-19healedandfree are you jealous, ignorant or talking from pure hate? They paid for wedding of 50 poor couples in a lavish way. Everything from clothes to gold jewelry to wedding reception, food was paid by the Ambanis. In addition they fed a lot of poor people throughout the various rituals and ceremonies. There are a lot of Western royal weddings and they don’t pay for anyone else’s wedding prior to that or have free meals for entire cities as part of wedding celebration. So… check your facts before speaking. In fact giving is part of every Hindu wedding ritual. Everyone gives within their means but feeding poor, donating clothes are all part of wedding rituals.
I'm happy the Ambanis did it lavishly...important to understand that they used their own wealth not the tax payers wealth!! We've all watched the royal weddings of the British n England has cashed in on the publicity by the press..so now it's our turn to make heads turn !!
In Cyprus it is normal to invite 5000 guests at weddings even for poor people. In a very small party about 250 people are invited and there is a problem because most of the people are not invited. All the guests give money as a present, therefore the weddings with many guests are considered very profitable. The wedding may cost 40,000 euros but 100,000 euros fare received from the guests.
The wedding is enhancing India's soft power and global goodwill, showcasing the richness of Indian culture, fashion, and cuisine. This mirrors the strategy seen in the Royal wedding, which highlights British extravagance and aims to bolster its soft power despite its historical colonial implications.
Nice to see that for BBC India exists beyond slums and controversy 😊. Yes there was love for Bhagwan, for parents, for family for ethics and love between the couple
10:47 Tell me, dear sir, does UK not have wealth disparity? Why is this even a matter of discussion? If Ambanis can afford to splurge, so be it! Rather than being critical, appreciate the fact that the wedding helped a plethora of indian businesses.
Why do you all care how the ambani spends their money Do people criticize the royal family when they spend million on weddings or other billioners who spend millions on stupid things Why only show how much they spend on their son Why do you guys not show how the fed the poor all throughout the wedding How they sponsored 50 underprivilage couples wedding how much they donated Honestly indians spend half their saving on wedding even if they're from the poor or middle class its their money if you know nothing about the culture dont even speak on it And all these about poor peopl having nothing to eat acting like india is the only place where people are suffering what have the billionars of "your" country doing to help the poor its not ambanis job its the government job
West actually always underestimates India. India has largest middle class population greater than US + EU + Africa combined. Extreme poverty is less than 2% . Multidimensional poverty is at 11% as per 2024 . While in UK poverty rate is 20% .
Jealous level of other people's on top (specifically European media ) to see after abani wedding 😂 Specifically india 😆like how indian can do like this
Don't think Ambanis are just rude and bad because they are rich. They are very cultured and always much Charity work. In fact India's internet revolution was brought by Mukesh Ambani. He gave unlimited 4g internet through jio(sim card) for 1 year straight. And even after 1 year, the charges were very low.
Noooo! India's Internet Revolution started much before Jio was even conceived. Entrepreneurs in Bengaluru and then later in Hyderabad shaped India's Internet Rise.
And for that Jiao with other operators is even putting illegal mobile towers everywhere. Mobile tower causes health issues. You are only seeing 1 side of the coin

Has anyone in the West heard of the Circular Flow Model theory ? I mean thanks to this or any wedding in any Asian country the money flows to all corners of the society, specially the working or the poor classes. I feel this criticism coming from the BBC that goes to town blowing up THEIR ROYAL weddings is rather hypocritical. Why is it when Asians do it, all of a sudden the monocle goes on the eye ? Please, at least this is NOT stolen money. It's the hard work of this man and if he wants to spend ,so be it. I feel the wealthy HAVE to spend to keep the cash flow moving and what this family did WILL reverberate to many corners of India. Without criticising it Mr Nikhil Ananda maybe you should do research on how it helped out a nation.

This wedding was a huge business development opportunity for the Ambani companies. That is why they invited celebrities to launch brands and get coverage in the Western world. I am surprised people don't see that and instead complain about poverty in India. Apples and oranges.
There's something wrong about this conspicuous display of obscene wealth. Shame on the "celebrities" who attended the wedding of people they most likely don't know just because they were paid to do so. Bought and paid for. Disgusting.
If Britain could give back at least 1% of the wealth, it stole or plundered from India during the colonial time, it would help thousands of poor people out of poverty...😮
Trust BBC about India and its ethos, the anchor needlessly asks unethical question if the groom loves the bride. Is it because King Charles loves his queen but never loved Princess Diana, the real Queen of Heart of her time and not Queen Elizabeth. Really BBC will never grow out of their “ condescending veneer “. Come on BBC be more decent and wish any marrying couple always the best. The anchor needs to know that that the world will only appear the way she perceives it if you don’t understand the thing as they are. Being in media world that’s the fundamentals of any issue you are presenting.
The girl's father's net worth is 755 crores. The boy's father's net worth is 7,65,348 crores. It's a typical rich boy - poor girl love story and wedding!!
As far as your question about love is concerned, just notice the reactions of the groom , how he touches the bride, if he looks at her when a man in love would look at her, and you will be 100% sure that he is not in love with the bride.

For once foreign media gets to talk about India beyond being a land of snake charmers , elephants and slums. This family sponsored multiple mass weddings and attended them too. They created business transactions and boosted economy like no other. While an average Indian too goes overboard when there is wedding in the family, why should the richest family shy away? They did not spend any tax payers money but the money that they have earned in last 3 generations not something passed on as legacy from royalty...
BBC never ceases to amaze me. BBC has managed to pepper a story about a wedding (agree with everything that was said about it) with pictures of slums and railway tracks! And to question whether there was love involved in someone else’s (and you don’t know them) wedding …that is a new low
The royal wedding of Uk doesn't work as soft power and business strategy?? But when Indians do it everybody has some sort of problem......("a day without hypocrisy in Europe is day wasted")

What is an idea behind making a personal family event into an international event. People used to get married to enjoy life together socially acceptable and add to family tree. It was an occasion of joy because it was an important event for married people and their families to start as one. Some fun and happiness oriented events were normal to celebrate.Well, agree or not it was never intended to showcase wealth except oh well except when question of dowry came in picture. I understand in old traditions in some cultures girls were virtually sold. I am glad for all privileged, wealthy, social elites who can enjoy these extravaganzas. For poor once again reminder how unlucky you are. So social divide and rich people's tool to remind not so privileged how blessed they are. It is obvious what were personal and family events are becoming more and more to establish ever high position for lucky, rich and privileged. With the time what should be less and less social divide has become more and more evident. May be we wait for thousand years to see if things change.
Marriage is all about friends and relatives and celebration of 2 souls but as an Indian myself I can say that this wedding (event) was merely an ostentation of their wealth and more than half of those guests were not even related to them or met for the first time 😂😂. They just teased their fellow Indians by showing all this show off and opulence and to make them feel how Poor and unpreveiliged they are. Interestingly they even raised their tarrifs of their telecom business to it's customers right in the middle of this ugly show off 😂. They dont even participate in charity towards needy people . What a stark contrast between them and Indian Philosophy 😢
Government data. Government gives subsidies to 800 million Indians as free ration. You cañ get that only when you are below extreme poverty. That means their earning is less than 6,000 rupees a month. So 800 million Indians still earn below 6000 rupees a month. India has got a century to catch up with developed economies as per quality of living index is concerned.

Even if you have all the money in the world it is important to show some restraint, humility and respect of the times and the context we live in. My perception is why not they donate some money to the orphanage, old age home where senior citizens aged above 80 years old are not treated with good meals medical facilities. These people doesn't have humanity at all. Will they carry all the wealth when they kick the bucket. To hell with such show off guys.
