Awesome! I'm glad my video was helpful for you as I put a lot of effort into trying to make a good detailed installation video to help other people! I unfortunately have been extremely busy with some things that I will try to announce soon, so I haven't been able to get any new videos out lately. But please subscribe if you haven't already, I will a have a lot more content coming out as soon as I'm able to take care of a few big things! I appreciate your comments and support!
I didn't have the throttle body issue but I do have to have the ride command unit replaced. My Nav system never worked and then it stopped showing the tire pressure and then it started throwing a bunch of codes so my white smoke challenger is back at the dealership right now. I also have the Bam sticks with zombie's but when my cat delete get's in I am switching to the 2.5 baffles. Great video bro and please keep us updated. Can't wait for that install video and just anything challenger in general. Take care and be safe!
Thanks, glad you liked the video! I now have 14,000 miles and ZERO issues other than my windshield just stopped working (won't raise up, not to worried because covered under warranty) and the nav system isn't the greatest with a few minor issues when selecting the roads/routes. Other than that, it has been flawless and love every second on the bike! I could use a better seat down the road because I love big mile trips and doing Iron Butt rides (competed 2 on the Challenger so far this summer and have one more I'm doing October 3rd!).
8:10 you actually have the “2-1 loosing back pressure & lowering performance” backwards. 2 to 1 exhausts in V Twins provide the best back pressure (& scavenging) & performance according to the exhaust mfgs, tuners & on the dyno. D&D, Thunderheader, V&H pro pipe are 2-1 perf pipes, some like D&D & maybe Tab also will get you a dummy pipe on the bagger that is not functional but gives you the look w/ better perf. I used to have a Vance & Hines 2-1-2 w/ what they called the “Power Chamber” in the mid cat delete, gives you the benefits of 2-1 pressure then goes back to 2 for functional duals. I’m currently running a Bassani Road Rage 2-1 & the gain when tuned is noticeable, only down side is off course the offset look on a bagger
Yes you are correct, usually the 2-1 will give you the best performance but when the exhaust is to open and doesn't allow enough back pressure you will lose power. Ridingfish experienced this with his Challenger when he installed TAB's 2-1 CAT delete and put it on the dyno, he lost power and torque because it didn't have enough back pressure so he had to change baffles to create more back pressure in the 2-1 system. With the 2-1-2 TAB CAT delete, I didn't lose back pressure like Ridingfish did. With the correct setup the 2-1 will usually give the best performance.
HARD LUCK MOTORCYCLE thanks, I see a Challenger in my future so good to know. Sometimes an Autotune on H-D like a Zippers & FP3 can help adjust but I can’t see anything out for the Challenger yet except for Dynojet which I believe are canned maps & not smarter Autotune so it sounds like your set up is the way to go
I have the tinted Klock Werks windscreen and love it! It looks tall just because it is in the up position. When down, it allows a good amount of airflow to get to me while still providing good protection, but then when I raise it up it blocks all the wind from me which is really nice at high speeds or when its cold like it was during this Iron Butt ride! I can't recall the cost of the audio upgrade, I had the cost rolled into the cost of the bike when I purchased it and they gave me a nice little discount on accessories at the time I bought my Challenger. I'm really happy with my upgraded audio system though, I love blasting tunes while cruising!
Hard Luck, respectfully; you spent 5 minutes plus talking about the quirks in your GPS. Three years ago on a road trip with 15 of my fellow firemen, half the guys spent half the time complaining about and managing their electronics (stereos, GPS, CB radios, Bluetooth, etc). That is why after 25 years on E-glides and road glides I went to a Road King. DONE WITH THE TECH! It’s distracting and takes away from the riding experience IMO. I love my RKS. No tech. One gauge. Love it. For nav I use the 100% reliable M.A.P. Nav system. It never fails. But; nice bike. Enjoy the ride.
Tech can always be frustrating as they all seem to have issues and are never perfect, but even though I did have some issues with mine I still love it and overall I'm very happy with it. Could I just use a stand alone GPS like Garmin or TomTom, sure and it would probably work better but that would also be expected when comparing it to an entirely new GPS system. I do like having it integrated right in my bike on my screen instead of having to mount something on my bars etc. Nice thing about the tech, you can always turn it off when you don't want it, just like the stereo it is amazing when you want it but can leave it off when you just want the sound of your motorcycle, the open road, and your thoughts! Thanks for watching my video and I appreciate the feedback. Please subscribe if you enjoyed it, check out my other videos, and keep an eye out for new videos coming soon!
As for the GPS. I have a Garmin Zumo which has an "Adventure" setting, which allows me to avoid highways AND / OR prefer curves. Check to see if your GPS has a setting like that. I am contacting dealers to try and find the best deal on a Challenger. Good luck and thanks for the videos.
As far as I can tell so far the Challenger's gps doesn't offer any of those options like most major gps companies have. It would be awesome if they had options like the Garmin's adventure settings, avoid highways, avoid gravel, avoid toll roads, etc.
Thank you! I absolutely love how it sounds with the TAB zombie exhaust and the CAT delete! While it is incredibly loud and aggressive when you get on the gas, it isn't overwhelming or annoying cruising at high speeds. Thanks for watching!
options like scenic or quickest route might take you somewhere on a different route. you could also zoom out to see about where you are to get a reference point. Lovin the challenger.
As far as I know, Indian doesn't have a scenic or quickest route option yet in their GPS. I would love to see them update it to include scenic, fastest, no gravel, no toll roads, etc!
Back pressure is bad for performance. The whole idea is to get the exhaust out, not push any of it back into the cylinders which is what back pressure would do.
Yes I agree, but the engine does need enough back pressure to run optimally but the TAB Torque Cones definitely seemed to create way to much back pressure making my bike run terrible and also sounded terrible. This is just my personal experience, I have heard some say that their bikes seem to run good with it. I just know I hated the sound of the exhaust as soon as I installed it, and after a 400 mile trip I had to immediately take them out because the bike was running terrible sputtering, huge reduction in throttle response and power, etc. I wish I had my cameras set up during that ride but I was in the middle of changing my GoPro setup so I didn't get any video of my horrible ride, wouldn't have been much more than me bitching almost nonstop for those 400 miles though lol
@@hardluckmotorcycle5265 Don't know where you are located but one of the best people for tuning is Kevin Baxter in Winder, GA. He has a RU-vid channel called "Kevin Baxter" then he is on the web under protwin dot com.
So far I have not seen any options for the nav system to be able to select settings like fastest or shortest routes etc. I would love it if they had a few options like that to pick from including avoid toll roads, avoid gravel roads, scenic routes avoiding interstate/hwy, etc. Those would be very useful options for a nav system on a motorcycle like most major gps companies offer. Not sure what you mean by I didn't use the engine/gear box to slow down? You talking about engine braking? Yes I do use that to slow, I did that a TON on my trip through the Smokey Mountains! Just not always necessary to do it riding around town.
I am considering a Challenger fro my next bike, but I would like to see a full touring version. You mentioned you have not had problems like others - is the Challenger known for having chronic problems? Thanks for posting!
Yes there have been some problems, the main issue was some problems with the throttle bodies being out of spec, but think they have it pretty well fixed now. My throttle bodies were perfectly synced when dealer checked mine. A few other electronic/computer issues seem to be issues with some, but I think it has been a fairly small percentage of problem bikes over all. Everyone I know with a Challenger LOVES it! Always be some problems no matter what brand/model, all I can say is that I LOVE my Challenger and couldn't be happier with it and that is after just over 14,000 miles now!
I LOVE these heated grips!!! My first motorcycle with heated grips and not sure how I have gone so long without them as I live in Minnesota! They have been incredible, get way hotter than you will ever need (good thing they have adjustable heat!) and really heat up the hands & fingers even through thick gloves at below freezing temps!
Good review. Sounds like your making some mods making it yours. I ride an H D limited. Done a lot to it stage 2 with some add ons like windshield highway pegs lights etc
Thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you liked my video! My Challenger is just about perfect right now, I just really want to get some highway pegs for some long trips. At some point I'll get a rear pack for some extra storage for big trips too but since they are a few thousand dollars it will be a while before I can get that lol
@@hardluckmotorcycle5265 yes mods are $$. I did a lot of work myself for stage 1. Stage 2 cam oil pump etc. I had a local shop do the work. Making it unique and your own is part of ownership. I did mine over the course of 3 years. About 4500 investment so far
I think these Challengers are the new generation of performance baggers, they are comfortable, very fast, and love eating up those miles! Couple weeks ago I rode almost 500 miles on little trip and averaged 48-50 mpg down and back the entire way cruising on interstate!
