I just found your channel. When I was a kid in WV, we used to pretend that we had found arrowheads because we wanted to so badly. Now I'm a 48 year old lady, living in NC, who still daydreams about finding some. I just found your channel, and I've really enjoyed it so far.
Just started watching ur videos. I knew u had to be from WV w/your accent & u pulled 20+yrs in the Army @ Benning, Drum or Lewis? Pop bottle 77’, “I was just a little fella”, & so was I. I’m a 74 edition, lifelong Missouri man, Missouri born, Missouri bred & when I die I’ll be Missouri dead! 😆 Where I live, (not right on the water but close), is a small creek you can fish year round named “Cowskin Creek”, & it runs into a bigger stream named “Beaver Creek”. Old man I knew years ago found quality heads, points just amazing collection. His son donated it to the local county museum. We’re in Douglas county MO., & where I live just west of Ava 4-miles the Osage Indians lived here & a smaller tribe known as the “Ponkeshaw”, lived right here where I live. I’ve been down to Cowskin & just dig a hole in a gravel bar & find all sorts of heads. I’ve never found what I’d call real quality heads, but I always look in the creek or right on the banks. Watching you I’ve gotten new ideas & plans to search more effectively, hopefully finding a much higher quality of heads. The old man I mentioned found every single point, stone & head on the Cowskin Creek Valley & his collection was AMAZING!! If I find some good stones, points & heads I’ll send ya a few pics of what I was able to find! From this Scott to you Scott, thanks for the videos & really enjoy watching them & thanks for getting me energized again to go digging! I’ve got “Degenerative Disk Disease”, so I can’t up & go whenever I feel like it. I usually have to wait for fair weather or at least consistent temps & NO rain before I can go out & make a day of it. I don’t live on the Ohio River, but have the Missouri & Mississippi Rivers both, but I do have lots a natural streams, creeks & rivers. I’m an hour from Springfield, MO., Branson, MO., & about 1 hour from Mountain Home, Arkansas. Right in the middle of the Ozark Mountains so I know the artifacts are here in spades! My neighbor can disc his field & people can go there & fill a bucket of arrowheads! Thanks man & keep the videos coming!
Thanks for the comment!👍 I got Degenerative Disk also. I had 3 fused in my neck about 10 years ago and I have others now that bother me. Just hope no more surgeries. I hope ya find something nice, you’re definitely in one of the best states for artifacts. Oh, I only did 7 years in the Army, 4 years in 1990-94 and again 2010-2013
When I was a child growing up in the 50s we all played marbles. Any given day you'd find us on the schoolyard engaged in Fierce competition. I doubt any kid today even those how to play
Hello its me again. Would you mind checking out my page and maybe help me identify a few artifacts? Thanks in advance. The title is treasure in Alabama. My name is Roger still.
👍 I have a rough little petrified wood point that I found in north Alabama. I think you are spot on about that atlatl stone., that's really cool!, that and the smooth chipping stone, a hell of a haul there bud!
Man video after video of amazing, awesome finds.Every time I went out hunting for treasures I would be happy to have found 1 broke or possible tool. Best day came home with a 3 hole gorgat, and I was unaware what it even was at the time and going against my wife because she said throw it back it's just modern trash. That same day out a few feet away I had another weird looking shaped stone that actually sat in the kitchen window sill for months. When I found out the gorgat was really special months later I ran to the window sill to find it wasn't there and no one remembers what happened to it. 🤦♂️ my hunt was at mill hollow Park Vermillion Ohio
Embrace The Journey Thank you, this channel ain’t going anywhere...... sept up👍🙂 Been working a lot, and pickings are slim until we get some serious rain and high waters. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel growth 👍
Good day! Still waiting on some rain down here, but I did find one area of our river with no tracks yesterday and scored some finds. Always enjoy your updates.
Always like those river hunts I find a lot of petrified wood here in southern IN and have a couple nice points made out of it ! Stay safe and no telling what the next shovel will have in it 👍
I like hunting creeks and rivers when the fields are planted. I don't find many points, but I do pick up a lot of interesting old stuff that has some good stories. A billiard game we use to play in the pool halls around here was called Snooker. The table was larger than a regular table and the pockets was smaller. Qball was regular size. It had 7 or 9 red balls not numbered and only so many numbered balls these was slightly smaller than the Qball. I can't remember if the number balls went up to 15. I know it didn't have all the regular number balls. Some reason I think it only went to 10. I can't remember things about the pool halls after 35 years. Thanks for sharing and your time.
you are the sherlock holmes of indian artifax i doubt anybody else would have figured out the chiefs brothers kid did one side....amazing ! I can't wait to get to the river this summer, gotta build me a sifting box like yours
Great vid as always!! Close on my place this week, I can see the Ohio river and scioto river from my hilltop in west portsmouth, got my sifter ready and I can't wait.
Great video sorry have not been able to watch many videos lately but I'm trying to catch up good to see ya back at it ..And as always keep on rockin Jeff Ricketts jtr arrowhead man.com
To determine what kind of ball you found, Snooker balls are 2 1/16" in diameter. Billiard balls are are 2 7/16" in diameter. Pool balls are 2 1/4" in diameter.
This must have been to a mini table or something. I would have to measure it, but I would say it’s around 1 3/4. But definitely old first type plastic. But solid
What river are you own. I hunt the TN river and creeks and ditches that flow into it. Just walked into a new creek today just to see what it looked like and looked down and saw a point.
@@cleggsadventures maybe it will be. Im watching your video right now and your finding old bottles and ink bottles. Im jealous of the bottles. Those broken crocks would be nice to break up into smaller pieces and put in my rock tumbler.
Great Video Scott. I think those logs stem points started out life as pretty good sized knives. I believe when they worked them down to a size no longer good for cutting they used them for dart points. That pool ball looks just like one of the set my uncle had. He had a portable pool table with folding legs. It was about four and a half ft. long. It had little cues that were maybe three and half ft. long. It was from the late 1800s and had leather basket weaved pockets. Take care brother.
Sonny Pate Thanks for all the information, appreciated very much. That’s a great theory on the stem points, I’m sure they had to use up all their resources. I found some old pool balls online made from the same material, I knew it had to be old. Would love to have seen that table. Thank you for watching and supporting my channel.👍
