Well Arjun was built to combat Pakistan and we have zorawar to fight China in the Himalayas. Maybe a middle weight design to utilize in urban warfare would be great. Arjun is actually one of the heaviest tanks in the world, comparable to Abrams of USA. Arjun program was initiated to address Abrams as a threat to India.

@@Best_in_me I thought FIRCV was infantry combat vehicle. They are troop carriers with a heavy machine gun. They would never be able to defeat a tank unless they carry man-portable or missiles used against tanks.

We have to move the tejas airframe production to private sector increase the production to 100 airframe per year , setting up factory itself takes 3 to 5 good years ,at the time whether kaveri or f404 will be mass produced.cancel mrfa ,mk2 production. Also use the private factory for production.

Same way we went to Russia for MRFA and russia said no, we started looking for Rafales and Typhoon. We went to Russia to get great smoky Mig 29K for second carrier, russia said no, we went and look for Rafale and F18. If IAF wanted engine from Airbus why did they go to Russia for MTA or why they are evaluating C390 from Embraer. The reason why CCP bros are stupid. US stopped production of C17. If it was there, there is no competition. It will be G2G deal.

To be manufactured in India with 100% Transfer-of-Technology for India’s requirement of 80 MTAs with customizations for various roles. A cost effective solution. For heavy lift requirements Indian Air Force already operates recently acquired 13 American 🇺🇸 Boeing C-17 Globemaster III Heavy Transport Aircrafts (HTA) in addition to ageing 17 Russian 🇷🇺 Ilyushin Il-76MD HTAs. India might produce more llyushin II-76MD-90A HTAs (latest version) jointly with Russia to replace the older ones as Boeing C-17 production lines have been stopped due to lack of orders globally. Alternatively might procure European 🇪🇺 🇬🇧Atlas A400M MTAs instead for its heavy lift requirements. Most likely a barter of Embraer C-390 Millennium MTAs for India’s Tejas Mk1A Light Combat Aircrafts (LCAs) seems likely.

I think the competition is between C390 and A400. A400 has edge over C390 due to its collaboration with Tata and better payload. But with C390 we have a chance to get ToT as Embraer badly needs order

Yes on the C-390. That would be a smart acquisition. Russia is proposing having the SU-75 to India to manufacture and sell. It comes already flight tested and systems tested. India would be smart deal, they could drop the AMCA boondoggle. That will be obsolete when it arrives.
