Shock cones aka Mach Diamonds will only be visible at sea level, as rocket gain altitude the plume expansion will takes place and we will not be able to see crisp and clear series of Mach cones but rather an expanding plume with hardly 1 or 2 cones

@kunjukunjunil1481
@kunjukunjunil1481 Год назад
These are expendable rockets ,only has to fire for minutes/ seconds. An aircraft engine is much more complex, and has to run for hours. That requires special materials/alloys etc. New manufacturing methods needed to create hot section (Turbine blades etc) ,needs throttle control, has to withstand considerable foreign object damage (bird strikes) ,has to be maintenance friendly. there are many more factors.

Aircraft engines are far far more complex than rocket engines as they need specialised materials and technology. Because they are reused 1000s of times.
@sympathiser_of_Germans_in_40s
Rocket engines have to work for a few minutes sometimes a few seconds but jet engines have lifetime of a couple of thousand hours, not only do they have to work for such long periods they have to do it at incredibly high temperatures and incredibly high speeds too. And be safe enough to be operated by humans on board. And be reliable enough to be trusted in war time.
@karthik7486
@karthik7486 Год назад
@@kunjukunjunil1481 I get that. But won’t these engineers have a good amount of knowledge abt these engines? Surely rocket engine knowledge must help in creating a jet engine! Or it’s not relevant at all?

I think our Indian rocketeers are behind the times, in terms of their boisterous videos of jumping up and down. As competition ramps up, the main thing is to rack up more milestones of progress, rather than jubilation drama. Otherwise, flight hardware looks 5+ years away, by which time market will have moved on.
@spidy9883
@spidy9883 Год назад
Why don't you guide them.... If you have that kind of knowledge.......... Only 5-6 countries can launch rocket into space........ They are doing good work , appreciate their good work...... Don't try to be expert here...,,... They have higher stakes in this..... So obviously they are more concern about their progress.
@manofsan
@manofsan Год назад
@@spidy9883 - what's been launched? Remember that most profits are not made from launching the rockets, but from building and operating the satellites that ride on them. That's why there aren't very many rocket companies, because that's not the way to make the money. But there are many companies operating satellites - because that is indeed the way to make the most money from space. It would be smarter for Indians to first become satellite-operators and make the money first, before going into the rocket-launching business later on. Do you feel that satellites are less glamourous and less prestigious, and that's why you're more attracted to the rockets, even if they're less profitable? I think profits should come before 'coolness'. Later on, after you're making enough money, then you can do the rockets later on.

@@manofsan rocket science helps us with mining asteroids and other planets. We are 1.4 B people I think we can work on many things at the same
@manofsan
@manofsan Год назад
@@indian9632 - that would be far in the future, as it's extremely expensive to return materials from space back to Earth. Elon Musk famously said that even if Mars was full of cocaine, it still wouldn't be profitable to bring it back to Earth and sell it here. I agree that out of so many Indians, some can work on different things at the same time - but we almost never hear of any Indian companies working on selling satellite services (barely one or two), even though this would bring in far more money far sooner. Meanwhile, many more Indians are queuing up to make rockets, blindly imitating their 'cool' idol Elon Musk, even while struggling to raise funds for this more difficult path. Are Indians more attracted to being 'cool' than towards being practical, profitable, and sustainable? Are we just a little bit naive and starstruck? A practical person is more interested in earning revenues, which help pay bills.
