If there is any International chef who is not Indian but understands intricacies of culture associated with Indian food, Gordon Ramsay will never disappoint. He called her because he wanted to glean into how different it would be from "traditional" style of cooking. But he was a little disappointed by how she just praised her son without giving out how different it is from the style of cooking she is used to.

It's just a language like anything else, and if you hear it from childhood and learn it as part of basic education, it will come naturally to you. It's pretty easy when the children speak English, my grandma barely knew English but my mother learned it in school and now they can speak fluently in English, my grandparents are around 80.

Eh not really, im Indian and my grandparents do speak English and I come from a pretty humble background no one in my family is very rich to pursue some special education, granted I don't think they would be confident enough to speak English on national tv but India was colonised by the brits for 200 years so a lot of Indians do know English even a lot of old people so id say its more common than just ultra educated+rich people
