I did my Internship in Mysore Karnataka(so called south India). Auto driver, restaurants, cafe and many more would not provide me service because i spoke Hindi. They would literally say please go back to Maharashtra and don’t come here. We Indians are racist towards our own race. What do you expect then in Western Countries. I went to travel once, to Rajasthan, we were speaking out native South Indian language amongst ourselves while we were ordering tea, on a thela, the guy didn’t serve us tea, he asked sirf ghoomne aur ho ya idhar hi rehna chahte ho, and said behtar hai ghoomke apne ghar wapas jao, idhar aapke liye kuch nahi hai. That was my experience of racism within north India. And in south India, while they are in south, and there are people of mixed culture, still north Indians just speak hindi, even after telling them that the south indians don’t understand that language, this was racism experience in South India that I had. Indians, irrespective or north or south, racism exists, it should be resolved, that much is true.

Only one of them was elderly and most likely under the influence of several medications.
I grew up in Canada 12-21 and returned to my home country of Trinidad and Tobago decades ago. I still have friends and family who still live there. For Canadians to say that this is something new is a joke. I was teased relentlessly in school about my heritage . The heat came off West Indians when Indians and Pakistanis started arriving and I’m sure it was hell for them. This is a problem that’s not going away anytime soon.

The truth is if Canadian government would request its citizens to join the army, I doubt these newly citizens would participate. They would most probably relinquish their citizenship and go back to their respective countries. As an Indian, I believe these people left their homeland for better opportunities so the racism is the price they have to pay for it. The best they can do is to avoid any escalation during these situations. By constantly interrogating that old lady, he's is being hostile and it would only damaging the chances of upcoming immigrants. Either improve employment system (create more jobs) in India or try to make the situation of overseas more conducive and less hostile for Indians students by involving more in good work and less in crimes and disturbing others.

I left India in 2009. After that, I lived in the UK and NZ and am currently based in Australia. I have seen this racism problem is more common in India than outside of India. In India, we talk about north-Indian and South-Indian, and we tease people of the North-East. North Indians in Maharashtra are called "Bahiya". In India, we have every kind of racism, racism based on states, geography, culture, class, religion and caste. When we live in India, we ignore all this, but we take it too seriously when we move out. We move to different countries to have a quality life and better money. But when we are in any country for a few years, and now we know the laws and have some friends from our home country, we start adding our values to the current system. Most native people enjoy the variation, but all this is good when it is limited. The problem starts when we want to create a mini India, mini Pakistan, or any other mini-country within any existing country. I know people will say that the US, AU, NZ, Canada-all these countries-were initially inhabited by indigenous people. Later, different communities came and settled there, and now they claim it as their own. But these people have been there for centuries now. They proudly call it their home. I am from Uttrakhand, and I was born and brought up in Dehradun. My father and Grandfather were both born in Uttrakhand (UP at that time). I am unsure if my great-grandfather or his father were from this area. There are stories that some of the people migrated from Rajasthan to Uttrakhand(UP earlier) when a Muslim ruler tried to convert Hindus forcefully. If my ancestors were one of them, I can't say I am Rajasthani now. I don't hold even a single value of Rajasthani culture. This problem is everywhere. European countries were tremendous in helping many economically and socially broken refugees. But look at their countries now; the refugees now want to turn the country that provided them with support during the most challenging times into the same country that they have to leave for a better life. We can see Pro Palestine movements in different parts of the world. The native people do get scared when they see so many immigrants from the same community. In some places, they feel outnumbered. The khalistani movement in Canada is another such example. I understand they want a separate nation, so why bother Canadians. If they think putting pressure on the Canadian government will affect India, they are wrong; it will add more difficulties in the visa process for people who want to come and stay in Canada. I have worked in the UK, NZ and AU, and I have found that it's all right for me to be racist but not for my native colleague. I can call them white, but they can't dare to call me brown. This is the luxury we get to stay here. If we move to any country, we must respect its culture and traditions instead of forcing our own. Before moving, everyone does their homework and knows what they are getting themselves into.
