This song is one of the best songs when it comes to modern pushto music. I understand the lyrics are hard to follow and the translation doesn't do it justice, but the music, the perfect fusion of rabab and guitar, the video portraying raw country life of pashtuns, the innocent expressions of kids and old men and above all the soulful vocals deserved some applause! It was disappointing to see your response, as if you had just watched a boring documentary! You talk about talking to the producer and how big a project it must have been because he interviewed IK, and whether all pashtuns speak pashto or not but you forget to talk about the video itself. Being a pashtun and being in love with this particular music video, because it makes me fall in love with my people every time i watch it, i found your response quite cold and a bit offensive. For future I'd recommend you watch the video in advance and reherse what you have to say so that you don't end up offending people and their culture.

Well there are a lot of dialects and accents in pashto language as like any other language Some are harder to understand because of accent or vocabulary but still pashtuns whether Pakistani or Afghani can understand each other. P.S when pashtuns say pashto it sometimes refers to the way of life, culture, law, norms, values as pashto is considered more than a language.( Called as pakhtunwali) As in this song it says; "Enemy say that's it's the language of hell (evil) But I will go to paradise with it" Not referring to the language but the pakhtunwali.

I am a pathan of India but I frankly tell you that we don't understand pashto language. Some words of pashto are similar to urdu and hence we can understand it a bit. Generations of pathans have intermingled with local people and slowly lost touch with their language. This is not strange!! I have seen the present Gujarati muslim generation don't understand gujrati whereas their parents do in Bangalore.

One is qhandari dilect speaking in qhandhar anr janobi pashtoonkhwa of pakistan and other is qabli dilect speaking in qabul and Khybar pashtoonkhwa..
