MachineGames, the developer behind Wolfenstein: The New Colossus and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, gives its first glimpse into its upcoming game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Todd Howard introduced the first person shooter during the January 2024 Xbox Developer Direct. The game is expected to release in 2024.

I think the phrase modern gaming audience was a slight red flag. A lot of great IP’s remade for “modern audiences” lose what made them fun in the first place.

I’d go ahead and guess his sidekick is better than Indy at everything and the villain is a deeply “intelligent” man who makes a lot of really dumb decisisions so the plot can happen. Let’s hope they don’t make it too much like a modern Hollywood movie.

Everything else is at service of the story. However, with the last movie released, and seeing how sidelined and emasculated he was, having good faith in this would be foolish. The red flags are all there, and i'm glad they presented them for us like that. Props to them for being clean about their intentions.

@@private1177 Indiana Jones was the first so technically everything else is a clone of it. And the original Indiana Jones games were all 3rd person. I just felt that 3rd person gives it that grand scale and I can see and understand why they decided on a FPS..it's just not my cup of tea. But I'm sure the game will be great regardless.

I agree that making a game about one of the most iconic adventurers in pop culture a 1st person game is a weird choice, but on the other hand, we have so many great 3rd person action adventure games already. I like exploring and solving puzzles, and I would much rather move and look around with my own eyes than moving the camera around the character and potentially have the clunky movement that usually comes with otherwise greatly animated 3rd person games.

Oh man, this is going to be so nostalgic, playing as my childhood hero. The 1st person perspective will need some getting used too, but at least the camera zooms out to 3rd Person in cutscenes and certain actions such traversing the different areas with Indy’s iconic whip or climbing pipes etc. , to get to higher ground. So that’s a fair compromise. I can just imagine how much fun it’ll be to swing around with the whip. I’m getting excited, just thinking about it.

My only complaint as a longtime Indiana Jones fan, is I wish the title was less .. Generic sounding What about "Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the Great Circle" or something, but I feel like just "Great Circle" sounds kinda generic and bland, but everything else I'm excited for.

Not a fan of first person adventure games. I feel the developers were afraid of being compared to Uncharted or new Tomb Raider. Which would be silly since Indy obviously inspired these franchises. It’s would look and play so much better in third person, like in Emperors Tomb.

Game devs are going to have to design new ways of showing first person other than just sticking an arm to the side of the screen. That's not how I see the world when I look around. It's incredibly dated, limiting and almost lazy now. The actions Indy is taking look stiff and awkward if anything. Would've been amazing in 3rd person.

This looks AMAZING!!! Every other Indy game has been strictly third person, so I LOVE that this one switches it to first person while still including those third person moments. This feels so authentic to the original franchise and I can tell a lot of love went into it. The score sounds beautiful, and the graphics look great! The only thing I could think of that would really be the cherry on top for me is if they somehow included a co-op mode to play with friends, like as Marcus or Gina. But I know that likely won’t happen, and that’s okay. I can’t wait to play it!!!

This looks amazing! I can’t wait to play it! I know they designed it for a first person view but I sure hope they give us an option to play it in third person as well. I mean, they do have certain scenes that go to the third person like when Indy uses his whip and climbs so I feel like it is possible
