Expedition Everest definitely has a conservation/respect story line. The yeti is mad because of the over tourism and the tourists not respecting the mountain. Which is ironic coming from Disney…. Regardless there is definitely a story and message

I agree 100%. The whole entire point of the ride is that you're entering territory that you dont belong in. These train tracks were built in a territory that they dont belong in. A territory that belongs to this massive beast (animal). There's even scenes of him literally ripping up the train tracks

Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World" features an ancient population of dinosaurs living on a plateau in South America. They could definitely spin a sort of "expedition to the lost plateau finds ancient ruins full of dinosaurs." An additional fun fact: Carnotaurus is a dinosaur from South America. So there's that! (Also the skeleton you see in the pre-show is a carnotaurus skeleton, not a T. Rex one!) My issue with Dinosaur the ride as it stands is that it's mostly just a bunch of careening around through the dark with an occasional lit up corner with a dinosaur in it. You never feel immersed in the ride like you do with the Indiana Jones one.

I agree. The fact is, providing quality care for exotic animals is expensive. I suspect the only reason Animal Kingdom exists in the first place is because the project was well underway when Eisner was still ambitious, before the disastrous opening of DLP. And Iger and Chapek never really liked how expensive it was, so they never added major animal attractions, but instead started filling it with IP attractions with no real animals. I’m not sure if their eventual goal is to replace the animal exhibits; my guess is they will keep what they have for the near future. But I think, with the new Tropical Americas land, they’ll probably just move over some animals from the Oasis like the anteater, capybara, and macaws.

I think the difference between Pandora and the potential Tropical America's section WOULD be that Joe Rhode was still involved in getting Pandora to fit in with the rest of the park. Even with the current shake up in Imagineering I am not optimistic about the new Indy attraction actually being conceptualized in a way that would thematically fit within Animal Kingdom.

💯 and something that doesn’t get brought up was how direct Joe Rhode was about how “dumb” an idea he thought Pandora was in the first place. I can’t imagine the creative slough that was to get it to match his vision as much as it does currently. Now that he’s gone I wonder if there’s anyone at imagineering that even has the level of vocal anatomy that he had to fight against the board to execute this in a thematically purposeful way

This is like an artist wanting to make a new painting, already having access to a bunch of blank canvases & painting materials but instead, the artist decides to paint over an already existing painting. If Disney wants a "Tropical Americas" section in Animal Kingdom, then they should use the free area(s) of land (like the one they're using for this construction project) they already have access to. Destroying Dinoland is not the answer & I REALLY hope something happens to prevent it from happening. If they want to improve Dinoland, then they should consider -Updating Dinosaur with a new pre-show & new animatronics -Give Restaurant-osaurus a new Menu -Construct more Animal Enclosures with creatures that are considered "Living Fossils" -Have Interactive Dinosaur Encounters (Baby Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, Lucky, Aladar, etc.) -Have a Good Dinosaur Musical in the Theater in the Wild -Construct a Excavator Roller Coaster in or near The Boneyard area -Construct A Water/Log Flume Attraction based on the Ice Age franchise in place of Dino-Rama.

Expedition Everest shoe-horns animal preservation and information about mountain animals throughout the pre-ride queue. Several rooms have displays of recently extinct or soon to be extinct animals. They tie the story of the Yeti in by comparing a soon-to-be extinct fictional beast with real life soon-to-be extinct animals. Keep in mind that Animal Kingdom was always suppose to have fictional beasts, such as dragons, as well. I doubt very much that they will keep the Dinosaurs. The tonal whiplash would just be cheesy. The overall lore and expanded universe of Indiana Jones could easily shoehorn in real life Central/South American species alongside probably some mystical creature. Quetzalcoatl makes an appearance in 1999's Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine video game and would make a fantastic animatronic...

Some thoughts: - Disney has never imported anything from the Tokyo parks/OLC, so I don’t believe the new ride will be a clone of the TDS version - The OLC, a company known for high upkeep, didn’t recreate the moving door or ice effects in Tokyo, so I don’t think we’ll be seeing those ever again. - Credible rumors indicate that the ride will be completely different from the current versions. This makes sense because a lot has changed since 1995/2001. - With Joe Rohde gone, I don’t have as much confidence in this ride sticking to the conservation theme like how Pandora did. Also, I think Everest has a message about respecting animals and nature. - I’m excited for this change

I think Indiana Jones is better received for a couple of reasons: 1) the music, it's so integral to the experience that everyone comments how the pause is very noticeable; 2) Almost every scene is packed with something special to make every moment distinct: well-done projection mapping, Indy!, awesome central hub with laser eyes, mummies (currently on vacation?), bugs, bridge and lasers, huge animatronic, scrim (admittedly sad), explosion, more projections, darts, Indy! Boulder! Yes!. In comparison, I don't even remember if the Dinosaur ride had music and every scene is just Dino, Dino, Dino (DDD). DDD isn't necessarily bad, no one can complain that the ride isn't what it says on the building, and a few scenes are done very well, but better music and a bit more creativity in how things vary and are executed will go a long way regardless of what the new theming will ultimately be.

I think that Disney could actually make Encanto work in Animal Kingdom if they did a ride through Antonio’s eyes. The little backdrop they had at the front advertising Encanto last time I went featured Mirabel but also Antonio. A lot of their Encanto promo is with Mirabel, Bruno, and Antonio. So I have a feeling they’ll go the route of centering those characters and have Antonio talk to the animals to teach us about them.

I think there is a lot of ways they can tie an Indy ride into the Animal Kingdom theme. Just think back to Temple of Doom, the Sankara Stones brought the people lands life, they were dying without them. Indy could be there investigating something like that. Maybe tie the dinosaur theme with the McGuffin of the ride and how birds or the ancestors of dinosaurs and he needs to restore the McGuffin to restore the birds, that way you can have some talk about evolution, etc outside the ride and maybe even some animal exhibits (I really hope the new land has some central american animals...)

Well the Pandora land actually functions as the spiritual successor to beastly kingdom. Pandora's Ikran are a fictional animal. And therefore fill the quota for the theme of the park being animals of the present, past and fantasy. However getting rid of dinosaur absolutely ruins the theme of the park. And I agree will eventually completely lose it's identity. Terrified Of that prospect as every single park eventually becomes Magic Kingdom... Very sad.

My whole family loves Dinosaur... but the area is weak. It's sad, cause it didn't have to remain that way, but it did. They gave it virtually no love and most people aren't aware or forgot that the Dinosaur movie even happened. (The attraction wasn't even tied in hard to the IP anyway.) I think Diz is going to scrap the whole Dino-thing in general. They've got some vibrant popular IP's with Encanto and Indy and that's more than enough to work with to get guests to travel to and actually stay in that land for more than ten minutes. (Antonio's gift gives them a great plot point to work from as well... and magic is not a topic that is devoid in the Indiana Jones' storylines. They'll figure it out, but I think the dino's will either have an extinction event or be pushed into a corner as a much smaller exhibit/attraction of some sort... somewhere.)

I would totally be on board with an Indy adventure that involves traveling back in time. They already opened this can of worms with Dial of Destiny- so the concept of it won't be entirely foreign to the IP. So perhaps there's an ancient Mayan temple being excavated, and its main relic is said to have unknown powers of divination. Guests uncover the relic; but instead of showing the future, the ancient gods deem the park goers unworthy and instead banish them to the past- just before the mass extinction event. It's then Indy's (and our) jobs to find a way back before being wiped out by a meteor. That way you're still paying homage to Countdown to Extinction, but instead centering it around an Indy adventure.

Guys, there’s plenty of plots of unused land perfect for potential expansions to Disney’s Animal Kingdom that’ll double its size and include lots of new rides to add capacity, new animal attractions with live animals, new shows, and lots of other cool stuff! I want that multi-phase expansion for Disney’s Animal Kingdom to happen and right on time for its 30th anniversary!

I’d like it if they even just focused on snakes… maybe with some enclosures in the queue…. That would be pretty cool. Very on brand. They’re prehistoric-esque creatures. Or possibly birds? They’re contemporary dinosaurs. Both are animals that we have direct impacts on currently. Which I personally would prefer over extinct dinosaurs. My favorite part of animal kingdom is *surprise* the animals. It’s a zoo and a theme park. I think more habitats with animals native to south America is what is needed

Can they make it work? Yes. Will they? Absolutely not. We already saw with the Splash Mountain Retheme they don't care about consistency when it comes to adding new things to the park. Going from a Western Themed Town, to a Swamp, to a Western Mountain Mine. If they can add an IP somewhere, they will. How they put the Hatbox Ghost in the Hallway scene of the Haunted Mansion. Instead of trying to make an idea that never had the chance to be what it could've been, Iger's Pulling another Iger and getting rid of things to replace them with Modern IP that doesn't work where he thinks it will. None of the IPs they plan for Animal Kingdom have ANYTHING to do with Animals, they aren't IPS like Jungle Book or the Lion King. Heck, even Avatar had a lot to do with Nature, so that somehow worked. Disney is creatively bankrupt and frankly... there is no confidence or faith in them to deliver on anything halfway decent of a replacement that isn't just shameless corporate synergy.

Random video idea, but I definitely think you should talk about the next “original” Disney ride that could come down the line. By original I mean something like Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, etc… something that’s original from Disney Parks. Maybe about what you think it could be, where it could be at, would it have public interest, would Disney ever do such a thing considering how much money established properties make? I think it would be interesting to discuss. Enjoyed the video!

Once they do start work, the area will be closed for 3-5 years or more. Expect an opening date some time around 2030. It seems Disney feels it's just as good to have something in the works as actually having finished attractions. And if they're working on reworking Dinoland, don't expect they to do any work on the Peoplemover. So maybe some time next decade they'll think about it.

So if they get rid of Dino land it’s just steering away from the park theme, the animal kingdom sign/logo will have to be changed since it already doesn’t have dragons and it won’t have dinosaurs either, plus this is a ride you can actually get on without waiting 3 hours, big mistake if they do Also it’s a carnotaurus skeleton, the t-Rex skeleton is outside and that only exists because mc’donnalds and Disney bought the fossil also known as Sue, as far as I know she is the most complete T-Rex found

Maybe the temple that Indy is there to excavate is actually a shrine to some sort of animal and rather than defying Mara, like in Disneyland, the premise of the ride is that we’ve awoken the animal spirit that guards the temple and its angry at people for going into its shrine and digging up the land. Imagineering can then build a new animal animatronic to take the place of the carnotaurus.

The first time we went on Dinosaur it was the opening year when it was called Countdown to Extinction. Being super excited we told the ride operator “it’s just like Indiana Jones!” She looked at us like we were crazy. She says, “No. Indiana is a show.” And then we had to explain we were from California and OUR Indiana was a ride. Her jaw dropped and she got really excited to hear more, but unfortunately we had to board the ride. Now, years later, I think replacing Dinosaur with Indy would be great, but maybe a different version of the ride.

I belive that the Encanto concept ride will take you through Antonio's room. This would make the most sense because Antonio's power is the ability to communicate with animals so the ride could be a transformer ride at US but riding an animal in a race around his room maybe. That's just a possibility of what that could be.

Having Indiana Jones be a dinosaur excavation site would be a great way to keep dinosaurs a part of Animal Kingdom (you know their logo and all lol), keep it somewhat educational (not just a some mystical concept we all associate Indiana Jones rides with), and South America does have paleontology history and fossil record to pull from.... AT Bare minimum the queue could be a Fossil dig site.... Also if they are doing a South America land there should at least be 1 or 2 tiny, little exhibits for animals (like a lizard, monkey, or even bugs for all i care). Side note, you should do a video on why the Animal Kingdom Boat/River ride is no longer a thing, and if it one day could be a ride again in the future (if they didnt do dinosuars in the South America Land, it would be a cool idea for the boat ride if it ever came back)

Animal Kingdom has always tried to balance an ecological conservation message with an anthropological celebration of traditional human cultures and their relationships with the environment as the kind of baseline theme of the park. I wish they would add Indiana Jones as a separate attraction in the Tropical America's pavilion and revamp the area around Dinosaur to fit more with the rest of Animal Kingdom. Dinosaur to me always represented the Animal Kingdom not just as what species exist today, but those which lived in previous epochs, giving a wider view of ecological and environmental messaging beyond the present into the past. Adding a Moana style gyser and hot spring walk through area around current Dinoland where you can learn about the geological processes that shaped the Earth, how animal and plant remains are preserved, and how the earlies roots of the tree of life evolved into the complexity of life we have today would be educational, ecological, and give a fun context of humanity's place within the vast history of life on our planet. The Dinosaur ride as a museum style queue could be expanded to have an actual side museum attachment after leaving the attraction with replicas of the greatest finds in paleontology exhibited and showcased, a place to eat and rest out of sun and bad weather while still having a good time. Just saying Disney, dinosaurs are always a solid investment because everyone loves and is fascinated with those big lizards

Both the Back to the Future ride and Universe of Energy had dinosaurs kinda shoehorned in so why not an Indy ride? They could just keep the queue line as if you are entering a museum that has a natural history exhibit as well as antiquities which could keep some of the educational aspects alive too. Indy has lots of animals in the movies - primates, elephants, crocodiles, giant ants, and of course snakes. It makes more sense in AK than Encanto IMO.

@@jacksonwells2181 Encanto has absolutely nothing to do with animals. But I'd argue Indiana Jones can have a SPECIFIC story crafted about it. Similar with Encanto, they REALLY have to stretch though. Zootopia is fundamentally opposed to the idea of animals at all. Since they are anthropomorphic, there are no "real" animals in this universe, so there is no possible way to craft a story around animals in the way Animal Kingdom treats it

If Animal Kingdom is gonna keep the animal side of it intact, they obviously ought to have tropical American animals in this region. Jaguars, gators, tapirs, capybaras, maned wolves, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys, green anacondas, toucans, all good ideas to include here. If they build a new section from the ground up (as rumors going around are implying), a good idea for that would be Planet of the Apes with massive exhibitions for chimpanzees, bonobos, and orangutans, in order to spread the message of primate conservation (the orangutans would also correlate with King Louie from The Jungle Book).

I'm just hoping the Boneyard sticks around with a bit of tweaking. I could see the area and the ride featuring a story where Indy is at an archeological dig site and there's both human artifacts and dinosaur bones. It could be about the importance of preserving history. As far as the Encanto area, I'm assuming it's going to have a heavy focus on Antonio. They literally have a character who talks to animals. If anything, I'm going to be upset if he's not insanely utilized.
