43:23 to me, is the greatest single throw of all time. Collie is running full speed from the snap, just high enough to get over the DBs reach and hit him in stride…
Mark Sanchez played well, yet the Jets secondary could not slow down the Colts passing game. The Jets did two things well in the 2010 rematch: running game (credits to the offensive line) & crucial 3rd down stops. That's how they got the revenge.
You've conveniently forgotten to mention the Colts' Special Teams choking and bone headed timeout call by Caldwell in the last minute of the 2010 rematch. That, more than anything else, is what gave the Jets an opportunity to win the game.
Garcon caught everything in this game. Too bad he dropped a big one at the end of the first half of the subsequent Super Bowl which could have put the Colts up 14-3 at half instead of 10-6. Yes, it made ALL the difference. If Sean Payton still decides to risk an onside kick, recovers, and scores, the Colts are still ahead 14-10. If it fails and the Colts recover? Now you just gave Manning a short field with the ball and a 2-score lead. The Colts likely run away with it. Garcon dropped two crucial 3rd down passes, and Collie dropped one late as well that eventually led to a 50+ yard field goal attempt. It's always easy to look at the Manning INT in that game as the dagger, but they were done before that moment. Happened to Manning all too often.
Manning's curse was his defense; how many times the lead was given up by the Colts in Postseason was historically awful. Brady rarely had the same problem; playing with top 3 defenses every successful SB run. But if it was even as low as 8th place D; Eli gets the late lead change in 07,11 SBs. Nobody got a 4th quarter lead change TD on the 01,03,04 Pats. This was a defensive dynasty
In NFL history, postseasons are won by the better defense, and NFL MVP QBs of #1 Offenses always always always lose in the postseason. 06 Colts and 09 Saints are the only exceptions, (Brees should have won 09 MVP) 20th place D. Even 2019 Chiefs ranked 7th in fewest points; which is remarkable, usually its top 5 in Defense.
@@WalterWhiteFootballSharing in 2003 the Panthers did get a 4th quarter lead change on New England. Why wouldnt it be a defensive dynasty? All the talented players were on defense. Brady was the only great player on offense until the addition of Dillon in 04..yall love to blame Mannings defense..did his defense complete 45 percent of his passes at home in a dome in 99? Score 0 pts in 2002? Throw 4 ints in 2003? Score 3 pts after a record.breaking 49 ts season in 2004? Put up 18 pts at.home.vs Pittsburgh.in 2005? Always on the d when Mannings fails. 3 td and 7 ints during his SB run.
@@aaronjackson9385 the 99 game the defense gave up almost 200 yards rushing that game, 3 points in terrible weather where his receivers and running backs had countless drops and fumbles, defense could have won the game if dumbass Nick Harper doesn’t run directly at Big Ben then let’s not even talk about that choke job by Mike vanderjack. Did manning have some bad play off games sure. But far more often Peyton played good to great playoff games but his teams let him down.
@@justyouraveragetrashcan5384 the 99 gane Peyton was 17/41. Thats pitiful. I never blamed him for the Lamar Smith show in 2000 at Miami. He threw 4 terrible picks at NE in 03, no pts at the NYJ in 02, 3.pts at NE. His WRs let him down, but you cant put up 3 pts after having the rules changed to benefir you heading into that season. In 05, he didnt play great. He took some terrible sacks and threw what shouldve been a game clinching int to Polamalu. Overturned on a terrible call. Etc..
Colts defense in their 6 playoff wins in 2006 & 2009: - 0.97 Points per Drive Allowed 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs Defense - 0.90 Points per Drive Allowed (1st) Colts defense in their other 13 playoff games in the Manning era: - 2.60 Points per Drive Allowed 2008 Detroit Lions defense - 2.61 Points per Drive Allowed (32nd) I wonder why Peyton Manning only went to 2 Super Bowls w/ the Colts. 🧐
It's intriguing. '06 Colts one of the only SB-winning teams with a statistically F-grade defense. It's odd because they were loaded to the gills with playmakers like Freeney, Sanders, Mathis, Brackett, etc.
@@andrewcra They had great players in the back end at safety & at DE. The rest of the defense was undersized & played too conservative in coverage. They were solid overall in the Red Zone & playing w/ a big lead where Mathis & Freeney could rush every play. But statistically they were amongst the NFL’s worst in 1st downs allowed (24th), 3rd Down conversion rate allowed (32nd), Rushing YPG allowed (28th) & completion rate allowed (32nd). Had problems getting off the field every year except for 2005 & 2007. And then even those years those problems came up again in the playoffs.
@andrewcra Bob Sanders only played 4 regular season games that year. He came back just in time for the playoffs and turned that defense around. Without him I don't think the Colts would of won that year
@@coltsarchives do you have that game Marvin Harrison burned Deion Sanders deep which was great cause Deion couldn't run his mouth & I think Hunter Smith tackled Deion in the game too. Deion Sanders said a kicker will never tackle me. Lol
He can only take one WR out of the game. Revis' real value was not needing safety help, allowing all kinds of flexibility in coverage or blitzing. Reggie Wayne got 5 targets and Revis eliminated 2 of them. Lets not forget a) Jets are leading until midway 3rd quarter, b) This jets team beat the colts in Div round the next season.
@@WalterWhiteFootballSharing And they beat them the next season because of Indy's Special Teams and coaching falling apart in the last minute of the game.
@@Antonio_Serdar so here's my question to you big Ben had pretty much as long a career as Manning he wins 2 does that mean he had a bad career? No same thing with Eli Manning. Winning Superbowls are a hard thing to accomplish I hate to say it because I love the guy drew brees should be talked about as a man who shouldve accomplished so much more to this day I hate that the saints didn't make Superbowl 53 because of a BLATANT missed PI call. But again if you win a Superbowl period you are a champion in the record books and that means you succeeded in the NFL sorry Phillip Rivers
The penalty at 38:00 changed the game. Up until that point Peyton hadn't figured the Jets defense out. Jets would have had a 3rd and 2 and probably get a first down. Peyton never sees the ball and the Jets go into the half up 17-6 or 21-6. Instead the penalty backed the Jets up and then Peyton got the ball back and scored a TD and figured the Jets defense out. Colts still might have won in the end but I think it would have been a lot closer. Jets were on fire up until that point.
@@user-td1me4tv3u Some people think the Jets were really good during those years when Rex Ryan was really fat, but when he lost weight, they think that's why the Jets have gone back to being really bad
It was at the end of the second quarter when Peyton Colts scored the touchdown that you knew that Peyton was now reading the Jets Ryan defense very well. Shame that the Ravens lost to the Colts on the divisional round, because then the Jets would have faced the Ravens in the AFC title game with the Jets having homefield.
I really thought we were gonna win this game and reach the superbowl and finally end the damn drought smh...it sucked seeing how this game ended. Payton manning began to exploit the jets secondary and that sealed our fate in that second half...it also didnt help when austin collie caught that damn touchdown right before halftime which transferred all the momentum and energy shift to the colts...this defeat was crushing to us jet fans so crushing...we really believed it was time to return to the superbowl..damn you colts..
@@AmirKhan-yv8jm the saints are cheating scumbags they should have stripped that banner (Not a colts fan btw) just don’t like giving credit to teams who won by injuring the opponent. #bountybowl
@squidward1633 you should've won the Superbowl?! Your QB threw a pick six(choke city) on his way to try and tie the game. He lost it for the Colts. Sorry not sorry 🐸☕️
14 wins with an offense like this is crazy 54:58 Its literally all Peyton Manning LMAO Rush “last” And this touchdown drive they did, ZERO rush plays lmao
The announcer said something interesting. He said the Jets were trying to do something never done by an NFL team before...make it to the superbowl with a rookie quarterback. Didn't the Dolphins make it to the superbowl in Dan Marino's rookie year?
