Almost 5 years later and this still gives me chills...there'll never be another team like that Indians squad. Such a shame our window is always so short because we never pay anyone.
@@JRams-ix6bt oh I agree. The biggest irony for me is before the season began I said “the Cubs are going to the WS. And imma root for em. Not like the Indians are gonna go.” Boy I ate those words.
@@greenland5754 that 2017 team was so good. Elite starting rotation and bullpen. Stacked lineup led by José. Brantley wasn’t right tho, was out for almost the whole year. We probably would’ve given Houston a run for their money, as the Dodgers and Yankees both did. Probably would’ve lost tho.
u gotta admit out of any team cubs deserved to win like if yall were playing the dodgers then u had to win but the cubs winning was just inevitable because of the history
Especially after game 1 of the World series I would have never believed the Tribe was going to lose! Especially the way Andrew Miller was pitching! And obviously when they got up 3/1 in the series I thought it was over it should have been over!!!
Ah, such great memories!!! It was my brother that jinxed the Tribe though...he called me after they were up 3-1 to congratulate me. I told him that it wasn't over yet to which he incredulously told me "C'mon, you're not going to lose 3 straight!" I've never forgiven him for that...
If you notice, its all about the pitching. As the video goes along, the opposition begins to score more. If only they could have put the cubs away in Game 5. Only in cleveland. This is the life we have been dealt
crazy that from the start of the 2016 postseason until Game 5 of the WS we went 10-2. Since then we are 2-9! Fuck, if we just could of got 1 more win against the Cubs it would of been so worth it.
Can’t blame the rain for sure but injuries to there number 2,3,4 pitchers can be to blame, cory kluber was there only starter or that would of been a different series
If the Indians had Brantley and Bauer healthy this is a totally different series. I still to this day say that the only mistake Francona made as a manager was keeping Bryan Shaw in after the rain delay when Bauer was ready in the pen.
The Indians typically let the starting pitcher choose which jersey the team wears. Trevor Bauer was the only starter in that playoff rotation who preferred the home whites, and he started the very first game. He only switched to blue for his last 3 starts after he cut his finger on the drone so that in case the stitches opened up while he was pitching he would have an easier time camouflaging the bleeding with the darker jersey.
Not sure I will ever get over this playoff run. I know people will say if only we were healthier - I say maybe. But who's to say the wins we had weren't due in part to the guys that were playing? Perez had some clutch moments in Yan's shoes. Kluber pitched amazing - would Salazar or Cookie have been that good? I blame Francona for having kept Miller in game 4, throwing 40 pitches. He was beginning to fade, Tito got greedy. I blame Kipnis for missing that meatball Chapman threw him in the 9th of game 7. And I will always blame the team for taking their foot off the gas. You don't blow 3-1 lead with two home gamea to close it out at home. That's not ever ok. Much respect to anyone who disagrees, but I don't think I'm off base here. ...See what I did there?
We had like 2 starters available that whole post season. Maybe meritt could’ve pitched in the WS. But was a kluber show basically. On top of that, Tito throwing miller into the ground. It was like 2017 peaked at the wrong time and was just so close. I still feel the pain man 😢
Oh well too bad they they are about to miss their window now. They dont even seem to be possible champions compared to others in baseball. After this season they will begin they year poorly and blow it up by the deadline. They shall sink while the White Sox and Twins will swim. I feel like that management just thoought after that season the world seires was a given and never made any moves probably because they lay in the worst divition having to not compete for that spot and that leading to them think they do not have to make any additions or changes. What a waste
Oh ye of little faith. They still have the best pitching staff in the MLB. And they've climbed into first with half the team on the DL. The window is closing, but they still have a legitimate shot this year.

The Tribe will still compete this year. Lindor is out and we are still 9-7. Clevinger out too.
How the hell did we lose to the Cubs?? I know both teams had a long drought (a *VERY VERY VERY LOOOOONG* drought) of not having a championship, but still... Cleveland could've taken it that year. There's a lot of hope for Cleveland (Guardians) this year. They're doing just as amazing as the 2016 team did.
