Another Australian patriotic song is 'I Am Australian', by The Seekers in their live farewell concert. Also check out 'Great Southern Land,' by Icehouse with wonderful Australian scenery. We have many Indian migrants living in Australia. My partner and I travelled through parts of India years ago. I loved the beautiful, colorful clothes that the lovely women wore.

I first remember hearing this song in 1980 when Peter Allen sang it for the Queen and Prince Philip at the Sydney Opera House, and I still get a tear in my eye. Thank you for your kind words, love from Australia.

This song was originally written and performed by Aussie, Peter Allan who was a successful Broadway performer. He wrote the song as a tribute - he lived in the US but still called Australia home. Qantas adopted the song as part of its advertising campaign many years ago and this is the latest promotion of it. In my opinion, some of the earlier ads were better vocally but the ads always feature the national choir. Non-Australians may not recognise some of the people featured in it: Kylie Minogue, Hugh Jackman (who actually played the role of Peter Allan in the stage hit The Boy From Oz), Adam Goodes (at the swimming pool) an indigenous Australian Rules Footballer, Ash Barty now-retired world tennis champion, the Campbell sisters (the two women swimming in the ocean) Olympic swimming medalists, the Bangarra Dance group (the indigenous dancers dancing on the salt plain). The pink water is Hutt Lagoon, coloured pink by particular algae. The song opens with traditional Aboriginal musical instruments - the didgeridoo and the clapsticks. The "wow" you expressed was for Uluru - the great monolith in central Australia, sacred to indigenous peoples. Qantas is one of the oldest commercial airlines and the ad at the end shows the various Qantas logos. Maybe you guys can jump on a Qantas flight one day and come visit!!

Please watch “I am Australian” from the Seekers on their Farewell Concert in Melbourne. They are in their 70s when performing this and they are still incredible in this clip. Their live performances from the 60’s onwards are incredible too. Most enduring amazing Australian band we have to come out of Australia. They were HUGE in the UK from the 1960’s onwards they just retired as a band about 20 years ago. 🙋‍♀️🇦🇺

It's a great song originally performed and written our by Peter Allen, and the airline used it for this ad which is a fantastic ad, but people don't seem to know this song is not Qantas's creation and credit should be given to Peter, who is deceased now, but had a lot of big hit songs, you should check out the original song and his other music such as his song Tenterfield Saddler, which he wrote about his grandfather.

The airline running the add Qantus has had a series of public relations disasters and at this time was trying to ride some nostalgia to paper over the cracks. They produced a very effective add. A lot of the add uses images to make Australians feel good about themselves. The first shot is Ularu in central Australia a site sacred to our First Nations people. The first person we see is a First Nations elder. There are a number of successful show business personalities and then some athletes. The young woman on the phone is one of our greatest tennis players. The person about to enter the pool is one of our greatest football players. Both are First Nations people. The two women in the pool are great athletes one a disabled person. The last shot is female rather than male pilots. Thus the add touches strings by showing Australia as a country which celebrates diversity. Something which fills them with pride. Riding on this Qantus was able to weather some more scandals and remains popular

This is not really about being proud of our nation. This is about belonging, identity and a place called home, with family that love and care about you. It came out just after we went through the worst series of disasters and then covid hit. We were exhausted and we have had to go through people from other nations talking for us, or a world that ignores us or tells us how horrible we are and speaks lies about us.Truth is majority of people don't really know who we are and don't really know our nation. So much have been asked of us and we are incredibly loyal and have been to Qantas. This is them giving back to us and helping us remember no matter what we have been through our nation is home and is beautiful as are we. At the time of covid, and after the worst fire, drought, plaques, and then china and other nations doing a gang up on us,, we didn't want to get up anymore. At the time of having our nation closed and shut down, where we are, we caught up on some much needed rest, are area went through one of the worst fire disasters. We appreciate those that weren't able to rest and had to keep going and they did so for us. So this is like hug that says keep going. We are Australians together, we are family and we are home. Its them communicating we are here for you and we will face life together.

Not to most Aussies, we are incredibly proud of our national airline. Its origin is the quintessence of Australia, begun by Aussie battlers, now one of two airlines with the best safety records in the world. This was about Australians being able to return home when the borders reopened after more than a year closed due to COVID. Not sure what nationality or age you are, but this song and it’s QANTAS association has been knit into the Aussie fabric since the 1990s. Cheers.

@@Bellas1717 Weird. Cause to me as soon as any brand shows up it automatically devalues the whole thing as bullshit to sell a product. Companies don't care about anything but money.

Excuse you, maybe don't speak badly about it when you don't know the cultural relevance of this song and its decades old association with QANTAS. Australians are very proud of it. This is not a commercial, its an institution.

@@YetiUprising It's because Qantas is the oldest airline in the western world and one so important to Australia's identity. We might gripe about it at times, but we do love our national airline (especially when we're away from home and it reminds us) - it's nice looking up at a plane high in the sky and being able to see the red tail even from so far away, signifying it as Qantas. So the fact that it has the airline bit at the end doesn't detract from the video. :)
