Indigenous Peoples already do “green jobs,” integrate cultural values into business activities, and protect 80% of the world’s remaining biodiversity. In order to transform our economies through Indigenous-led solutions, we need to uplift movements and stories inspired by Indigenous resistance. To do this, we must change the culture of philanthropy and “impact investing,” which still largely circulates in privileged circles. In this panel, Sikowis (Plains Cree/Saulteaux), Nick Estes (Lower Brule Sioux Tribe), and Alexis Bunten (Unangan/Yupik) discuss colonial-capitalism and how Indigenous-led strategies can offer us a pathway towards an equitable and regenerative future.

.. if you believe in prayer at all, in the 1980s, I went several times to Bear Butte, the Holy Mountain well-known to the Lakota. I prayed to be given a short prayer that covered it all. After three or four tries, I was given one. It said to pray for the health of everything. This would include all the relatives,.. all the animals, all the plants, the dirt, the air, and the water. Everything.. by using this prayer, you would also be praying that everything would behave in a healthy manner, that individuals and governments and religions and so forth would behave in a healthy manner... you would also be praying that your prayer is a healthy prayer... bear Butte is truly a holy mountain.

Speaking of the value of free time, go listen to the classic Bob black essay, the abolition of work. In it, he quotes an old time Greek philosopher, who said that the average person works so much, that they don't have time to be a good citizen, or even a good friend.

By the way, I attended the first big American Indian movement meeting in Pine Ridge, just before the Wounded Knee standoff. It was led by Russell Means and Dennis Banks. A couple of days before, I attended a meeting led by Frank fools Crow. This is not to brag, but merely to give some background, as you mentioned one should do.

Speaking of the importance of time, many years ago, on bear Butte, I found in a clump of bushes, a pile of 10 or 12 old clocks. Anyone who is aware of Indian time can imagine what this offering on the Holy Mountain meant.

For around 75 years, I have had extreme respect for indigenous cultures because of their respect for nature... these days, we have great movements, such as decriminalize nature, and thank you plant medicine. Also, a lot of US states are waking up, and legalizing cannabis.

Step One: Give the National Forests and Conservation Resources from DNR etc, back to the Natives. Step 2: Rejoice in the rebirth of the Old World...Forest! The entire world, connected by one Mycelium Mat! Utopia!

What many people do not know is that we as native American Indian people we are known as Gad in the Hebrew Scriptures of Truth so we can trace our roots back to Jacob as the seventh son

Unfortunately, the panel went to an institution that was western, but instead of praising capitalism praised cultural Marxism. Both extremes of western thought which have nothing to do with the philosophy of traditional native culture. They do not sound to have anything native American about them. Instead, they are just repeating leftist talking points. She even criticizes men as a gender. I thought native Americans celebrate the differences of gender rather than just blaming. The lady sitting on the right is clearly a third wave feminist. Still though, best wishes to them. I hope one day they can get rid of the western binary paradigm ideologies that have plagued the world for a very long time. It is no different than the Christian belief of good and evil which plagues history. Marxism is a form of reformed Christianity, but in many ways even more evil.

WOW.... You can't just throw around the word fascism without knowing it's meaning... which is evident in her statement.

Christ.....is our SAVIOR. He never taught treating women poorly...and the Bible shows this. 1) who greeted Jesus FIRST, upon his resurrection? The lovely woman. 2) Mary Magdolin. Was forgiven by....whom for those mistakes? Answer: Jesus himself. No one with "tens seconds to thinking", can deny that Capitalism is limited by time, materials, inequality. God knows our Hearts....wr will all be judged at the time of our death.

I have long thought that there should be no minimum wage. There should be however a maximum wage. And the maximum wage should be tied to their least paid employee. Everyone in this panel is wearing clothes from a corporation based on capitalism. They could have just as easily bought custom made clothing or made their own. Everyone wants to gripe about capitalism until it's time to change their own lives. You don't need the government or anyone else to give you money to plant your own gardens and raise your own meat.
