Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi visits the UK. She is seen with Prime Minister Harold Wilson and answers questions on the Kashmir dispute. Date: 02/04/1966
Indira Gandhi knew very well how to SHOW British Journalists their Place. Her assassination was really unfortunate and cruel, that too at the hands of her own Bodyguards whom she refused to remove on the basis on them being Sikh.
I'm not sure why there is so much hatred regarding this great leader, I know that she was responsible for emergency but was also responsible for the Indian victory against Pakistan in the war of 1971, It was her leadership that did not bow to the US's intimidation, her carefully planned strategy that made India win. She was responsible for the removal of the privy purse and for the nationalization of banks.
She was bold enough to risk and finally lose her life to prevent the division of India through operation Blue Star. If You compare the positives to the negatives you might get the overall picture. PS: Please leave petty issues like being a muslim or cow-slaughter, India is a sovereign nation and let it remain one.
If she were not PM at that time there would have been a Pakistan on both sides of India. If she would have been PM for ten more years there would have been no Pakistan at all on the map of present day world & India would have spanned from Afghanistan to Burma. Yes, she was a autocratic leader because she wanted to change India & make it a power like soviet OVERNIGHT but not a dictator. Her ways were wrong but her intentions were pious.
Such clear thoughts and not fumbling at all. What a great leader she was, miss that vigour and zeal in today's Congress. She was one of the greatest and boldest PMs who put country at the front.
Gurupdeep Singh: A very long comment in 05 paras: (1) Bhindrawale's victims were mostly Sikhs and destruction was mainly in Punjab. Although a Sikh religious person, he violated the sanctity of Golden Temple using modern firearms, machine guns and so on, and if Indian government had not killed him then and there then Golden Temple would be a place of long term bloodshed. Innocent people would have no access to even enter it for prayers. Killing him was the only way to save thousands of Sikh lives. If you say that they should not have killed him at that time and place, then you should also say what should have been done in that situation. Do you feel that Khalistan should have been given Partition from India ?
All the weapons and ammunition was supplied by Indira Maimuna Begum to kill Innocent people in Punjab. When Bhindranwale refused to act on her orders, she declared him terrorist and killed him cold -blood. Indira Begum herself created Bhindranwale. Khalistan is nothing but a Kongress project to defame Indian Sikhs who are more patriotic than any other Indian. Watch video on youtube "Kongress reviving Khalistan movement in Punjab" you will know the truth.
@2020 Vision yes they did. The only problem is that you don't study guys who supports modi. Even modi don't study before talking. 1980 me esa hua tga research kar lena...
@@MahatmaModiJee my friend.. indira never supported bhindranwale .. it was the cm of Punjab and sanjay gandhi who supported him to gain majority in votes as akali dal was gaining popularity in punjab and they were anti-congress..this threatened the control of congress.. and thus they supported bhindranwale to represent congress..but after gaining influential power he discarded the policies of congress and started protesting with the use of violence.. he wanted to make punjab a seperate union named khalistan ..which wouldn't be united with india .. thus certain measures had to be taken to preserve the unity of india.. i am sorry if you feel hurt and angry for what has occurred in the past but many sacrifices were made by many people of many religion... many castes to keep this country united.. and i am not against sikh why will i be .. they are fellow indians ...and they are all human above all .. if you feel unjust ..and hatred .. i am sorry for your sentiments being hurt but for a country ..their main aim is to stay united and prevent disintegration at all costs ..
That's a real brave & bold answer by Mrs.Gandhi, gr8. She adopted an appropriate Foreign & Defence polocies for India. Since, her demise we haven't seen a single Prime Minister as strong as she was, unless Modi becomes PM for India!
Actually I respect her for standing up on behalf of moderate sikh majority in Punjab. Bhindranwale's terrorism had made life miserable for ordinary Sikh. Moderate Sikh leadership had decimated in front of ruthless terror by Bhindranwale. What was the alternative other than removing Bhindranwale from Golden temple?
indiraji ... v respect u ... v luv u ... its true that u imposed emergency ... but it was u who called back the emergency and conducted the elections where u lost miserably and u accepted the verdict of people ... and just within few days you won with huge majority ... this shows india's luv for u ... v wont forget a strong personality like u ...
com on.guys..did indra gandhi took kasmir with her at the end.why are we fighting for.our human average age is 60-80 years and then we are gone.we were fuking fighting then , and we are fuking fighting now.i am hindu,i am sikh,i am hindustan,i am pakistan..when we are going to learn..i was watching indra gandhi videos today for the first time she was such beautiful lady..nothing we have achieved from 47 instead of killing our indian and pakistani brothers and still hating each other.please stop
It was altogether Nehru's blunder going to UNO.... Hari Singh appealed to the Indian government for military assistance and fled to India. He signed the Instrument of Accession, ceding Kashmir to India on October 26. Indian and Pakistani forces thus fought their first war over Kashmir in 1947-48. India referred the dispute to the United Nations.
Blunder done by AIR. Whose eagerness in news announced in all India radio that India is occupying kashmir. This news spreaded in pak also. Then their troops advanced immediately to kashmir
And also For First Nuclear test in 1974 And Sikkim became one of our states. No prime minister how much they or their party shouts has not added a single square kilometer area to Republic of India afterwards.
She said the right thing and totally justified. But did she not realise that the western world supported Pakistan because it was their ally at that time because India sided with the Soviet Union ? If only we had discarded Nehruvian socialism and embraced free market capitalism, we would have become South Korea by now ! Sorry Madame, truth and honesty alone cannot survive without money and power. The world has never been fair, so we should have played our cards cleverly and won confidence of the west.
@@anandraoarisham4310 the west supported pakistan cause they wanted to control the region, the west is responsible for funding most terrorist organisation, they started crying when it backfired
@Aninda the us and Russia struggle was not because of market structure, it was for power and they simply allied with those they thought would be most easily exploitable
@@anandraoarisham4310 Pakistan economy was doing good till the mid 80s ... in fact there was a time South Korea sent a business delegation to study the economic model of Pakistan. It went into darkness after the Islamists took over and spoilt the prosperity of the nation !
well, if people means Individual like yourself then Yes, she is. coz for this country she was a hero.. and you can see whole country crying on her death. and as someone said here.. had she not been assassinated India would have been super power already and kashmir would have been ours already. the whole kashmir. Its the chaos followed after her death which put us behind china. Read books and stop listening to your parents on these topics who always tell you their versions.
she should have not ordered attack on golden temple for few mens , they should have been handled differently , other than this she was great n really brave.....
Alok Sharma But Indira Gandhi returned all the prisoners and signed Simla agreement, which accepts defeat. Pakistan still holds Indian soldiers of 1965 and 1971 wars as sign of victory. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4yEIOU5-g-w.htmlm23s It was a waste, India didnt gain anything either from Bangladesh or Pakistan. tastepakistan.pk/simla-agreement-pakistans-finest-diplomatic-victory/
Ahmed,it is very funny that a person from a country where anarchy, poverty & chaos rules and kids, women&men are dailing in the multiples of 10s or hundreds in daily basis is advicing the largest democratic country which is in a predominant position among the whole nations for the past 66 Years.,I know you cannot understand what is democracy and what kind of system is running in India. But atleast try to learn it first. It will be funny for the whole world if you are again making comments like this.
time traveler- nothing happen its 9999 sill we have kashmir summar capital is gilgit balistan .... salute for indira mam for kashmir, creation of bangaladesh
What achievement, killing Democracy to remain in power? or making Swiss bank accounts and stashing Indian money abroad or legalizing Cow Slaughter? Marrying a muslim guy and still pretending to be hindu???
Firstly she was the one who raised bhindranwala, secondly just because bindranwala wanted does not make khalistan, whole pakistan want kashmir independent including most muslim kashmiris does that make kashmir independent. Thirdly you have been listning to two decades of propaganda of doordarshan that was slave of Congress, indira and her son.She was a lady dictator and totally cold blooded and so was her son.
Leave the Propaganda conspiracies aside and nobody listens to doordarshan! Firstly, are you justifying bindranwala for his activities? we all know that the history is never black and white but the consequences of Indira's actions justify's her means. The question we need to ask is "would India be better off if the operation blue star didn't occur" I am not here to defend her, I am just here to shape a opinion about her, I thank you for making me see the other side, but you are too radical.
