Our journey began in Jakarta, the bustling capital, where we explored the skyscrapers and metropolitan culture. From there, we headed to Yogyakarta, steeped in history and spirituality. We visited the magnificent Buddhist temple of Borobudur, the largest in the world, and the Hindu complex of Prambanan, with its towering spires.
Atop Mount Bromo, we witnessed the surreal spectacle of sunrise amidst the smoking volcanoes. In Ketapang, we navigated through the mangroves and admired the wildlife. On Ijen, we climbed the active volcano to observe the spectacular blue flames.
Also known as the Land of the Gods, Bali appeals through its sheer natural beauty of looming volcanoes and lush terraced rice fields that exude peace and serenity.
In this context, Ubud is considered to be the cultural center of Bali, where spirituality and tradition melt. Hindu temples everywhere, offerings and colorful flowers, dramatic dances and chaotic ceremonies
We visited the mystical Monkey Forest and took a purifying bath in the sacred springs of Tirta Empul. We got lost among the lush maze of Tegalalang Rice Terrace, try to interpret the rock sculptures of Goa Gajah and walk around the Balinese gardens of Pura Ulun Temple. On the East side of the isle, we spent a day ping-ponging between the wonderful water temple of Tirta Gangga and the breathtaking view from Lempuyang Temple. Then we spent relaxing days on the beaches of Sanur and Kuta.
Nusa Penida, with its sheer cliffs and crystal-clear waters, offered us unforgettable diving experiences and one of the most beautiful cliff views in the world: Kelingking Beach.
In Flores, we reached Labuan Bajo, the gateway to Komodo National Park, where we spent three days on a cruise exploring the Archipelago, snorkeling with thousand of colorful fishes, starfishes, Manta-rays and reef-sharks and we saw the majestic Komodo dragons in their natural habitat.
In Wae Rebo, we lived a unique experience in a traditional Mamboru village, immersed in unspoiled nature.
Finally, we sailed among the paradise islands of Le Pirate Island, enjoying snorkeling, relaxation and breathtaking scenery.
This trip was a whirlwind of emotions, between unspoiled nature, ancient culture and warm hospitality. Indonesia has won our hearts and we can't wait to go back!

We are Mia and Steve and in real life we’re a surgeon and an engineer. But, whenever possible, we try to escape from routine, hunting adventures around the world. We are hungry for knowledge of faraway lands and cultures; we love to challenge ourselves in new, tough experiences, whose reward pays off every effort, leaving indelible memories. We’re in love with every kind of animal, much better if they’re wild!
We started to travel together in 2015 and from that first epic trip, we realized we had received the best present life can give: the perfect travel partner!
