Indonesia's small Christian population welcome Pope Francis with tears of joy 

With all due respects, Indeed, it is accurate that Indonesia’s Catholic population constitutes 3% of the total population, or Christianity community (Catholic and Christian) almost 10%, which translates to approximately 30 million people. However, let us not underestimate the significance of this number. The Christian community in Indonesia surpasses the entire population of Portugal or Netherlands, and it is approximately equal to the entire population of Malaysia (34 milion). As an Indonesian, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Pope Francis for graciously visiting our country. May our Christian brothers and sisters in Indonesia receive blessings and safety in their worship, always. May God bless you all.

Yes true, 30 million Christians in Indonesia: Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran etc. This is the third number of Christians in Asia after the Philippines and China. It's almost the same with Malaysia's population. Combining 4 countries in Europe: Swittzerland+Austria+Hungary+Slovenia. And this number is growing compared to Europe.. I am an Indonesian living in Europe. Sadly, many churches are deserted, filled with the elderly.. meanwhile in Indonesia, if i come to the mass 15 minutes before the weekend service began, I will be stand up because the church full with worshipers.. Indonesian priests are massive in Europe..

Fix your description, "...where Christians are only 3% of the population." This is very misleading. Catholic makes up 3% of Indonesia's population, and out of 280 million Indonesian, it means around 9 millions are Catholics. It has more Catholics than countries like Portugal, Ireland, Switzerland, Croatia, Hungary, Belgium, etc. But in your description it said "Christians". Christians including Protestant, Catholic, etc in Indonesia makes up 10% of the population, around 30 million people, and it'd be stupid to call it a small number.

“Small Christian population”? 🤔 Yes, Christianity is a minority in Indonesia, but in a country this massive, I wouldn’t exactly call it a "small" Christian community. There are about 30 million Christians, with 8.3 million being Catholic. So, no, definitely not small.

30 million is not small

correction, 3% is only Catholic population but if include Protestant Christianity then the number of Christians grow to 10.47% or around 27-28 mio people and mostly practicing.

The statement is missleading, saying that the Christian is only 3% of the population, Actually the chistian is 7% The Catholic is 3% The protestant, catholic, ortodox etc, together is 10% of the population, amounting 30 million people, is it considered small population ? You can compare to some country in Europe consist only about 10 million or less
