They aren't mostly the same, it's just that there are many things that were borrowed from English. Especially, words that didn't exist in taglog, or deep words that for some reason people really stopped using. Also, that's mainly Tagalog. All of the provinces have our own dialects, as well as the main language.

@@TheWorldofDave Great job on highlighting Southeast Asia this time, Dave. I feel like SE Asia doesn't get enough love since most people's mind instantly gravitate to the main 3 "East Asia" China, Japan & Korea. Next time itd be great to try some short phrases rather than words since most words in SE Asia are borrowed from English. For sure, Tagalog (Philippines) is. Itd be more fun to hear the native language in sentences. (Tagalog) Our language is mixed between the indigenous language closer to Malay, but mostly Spanish and English words. It's been abused and mixed (under colonization) for so long we've almost lost most of the original words and borrowed a lot. not to mention English is the official second language of ther Philippines. most people in southeast Asia come to study English in the Philippines since we tend to speak it the best with the most clear accent.

FYI, American-English accent is very hard for Filipinos. Filipino-English accent is strong pronounciation. Remember: F will be P , Z will be S , V will be B . Because F, V, Z is very hard pronounce in start and endings. It will be change to P, B, S that is more comfortable to pronounce than Z,V,F. Are you very Filipino you can relate this. Take out K In endings . A lot of Filipinos can pronounce of K is silent. Example: Blackpink is Blakping(k) instead of Blackpink . I'm Filipino.

Just some information: Sepak takraw in Vietnamese is actually "cầu mây" For soccer / football, we used to call the sport "túc cầu" (probably before the reunification of Vietnam), which sounds closer to Korean "chukgu", but no one use this term anymore. Nơ it's just "bóng đá" Coca-Cola, we usually call "cô ca" rather than "cô-la" Facebook (FB) can be referred as "phây" in daily speaking "first part of FB excluding the ending s" Honestly, it depends on your language fluency and background that shape the way we pronounce things of foreign origin.

@@paradox4028 languages not dialects! Learn the differences between the language and dialects. Hindi diba, kasi may kanya kanya silang grammar at words at vocab so they are classified as languages, mygosh mali mali tinuturo ng guro tss.. Example of filipino dialects: Filipino/tagalog and batangueño, kapampangang angeles and kapampangang candaba, cebuano and bisaya. Example of filipino languages: filipino/tagalog, cebuano, kapampangan, ilokano, chavacano and many more.
