We recently started growing strawberries in our DIY indoor hydroponic system! We had a few challenges at first but the plants are producing a lot of berries for us now! In this video we go into detail on how we planted and grew the strawberries. When researching this ourselves it was hard to find much information on how to grow strawberries indoors. Hope you find it helpful!
Check out our website for more information on how to build and indoor hydroponic system just like ours!

Thank you for posting. I started growing strawberries this year outside and it was my first time ever getting an lots of strawberries. I think I found the perfect place for them to grow. I want to start growing strawberries indoors or when it’s winter. I was also inspired to try growing indoors because we had so many rain this past month a lot of my strawberry plants got sick. I’m excited to start growing strawberries inside

Browning of the tips of leaves can be an indicator for potassium deficiency. But since you are so high with your nutrient levels that is somewhat unlikely. Still, flowering and fruit bearing plants tend to require higher levels of potassium and phosphorous, so you could consider shifting the balance a slight bit into the fruity territory. But be aware that while over fertilizing is not an issue with most of the nutrients, this is actually possible with too much phosphorous. Yield drops, with too much P. 1000 ppm is really quite high. Half of that or less should be sufficient.

Thanks!! I was looking around and some scientific papers studied EC levels at 1.5 as being optimum, while you said you're using 0.8. I ended up trying 1.5 EC by adding table salt...like they suggested in the paper. And it nearly killed all 30 strawberry plants, leaving only the crown barely alive with all the leaves dead. Had to flush the system start again with just the surviving crown :( 600-800ppm seems to be the correct range.

Really enjoyed your video, just subscribed to your channel. I am new to hydroponics and the reason i got into it is because of the climate where i am currently living. Dubai UAE is a very hot and humid country most of the year practically from May to November, the sun seems extremely harsh as well with temperatures averaging 45+ degrees Celsius from 10:00am to 20:00pm. Coming from South Africa, i am use to being able to go to a grocery store a pick up 500g of strawberries for about US$3 and they taste amazing, in the UAE its all imported with prices around US$8 upwards. Tried to grow a few items in my 20m2 garden but only have 5 good months to so, now am into hydroponics and hoping to grow my own. Any advise on the tool/equipment which you use to measure the PPM and Acidity Level as well as the best type of nutrients, i have a Growing Light but not sure if it will aid in the growing of my strawberries.

Hi, thanks for your video, it look very useful info for me as i trying to plant my strawberry in indoor farm. May i know the reason why you choose expanded clay pellets as a growing medium? And also do you control the water PH in the NFT system? If yes, what is the PH level you recommend? My country is at Malaysia, Malaysia weather always hot and high humidity. What is the recommended temperature and humidity to control / maintenance during plant the strawberry?
@400tenchu
@400tenchu 2 года назад
Hi. I'm running a similar set up to his and also growing strawberries. For the PH you want to aim for a PH between 5.5 and 6.5. There's multiple ways you can achieve this. Some people use vinegar. There is also products you can buy like PH down. I tend to keep mine around the 6.5 range as I grow various crops on the same system. The clay pebbles are there to give support to the plant and at the same time block light from reaching the water in the rails. This is to prevent algae growth. For the temperature you want to keep it on the cooler side and between 60 degrees and 80 degrees F is acceptable. To help with the humidity make sure you use air fans to keep oxygen circulating. I keep mine at room temperature around 70 degrees F or 21.1 Celsius. For any plant you want to mimic the outdoor environment as much as possible but it doesn't have to be exact or perfect. You can further control the temperature by using devices to heat or cool the water. But this is likely not needed in a lot of scenarios. Hope this helps answer most of your questions.
