That finale wasn’t “technical”, that was straight up dangerous. It’s a small miracle that no one crashed on that last roundabout. They really need to get their shit together concerning safety, seems like all the horrible accidents are quickly forgotten
I saw it live and instantly wondered who tf designed that finale. The trend of ending sprint stages inside villages despite dangerous road furniture really needs to end imo.
Demare is a world class sprinter. He knows what he's doing. He clearly saw Pog and closed the door on him. Demare is going to need a favor from UAE at some point, maybe at the Tour. Pog won't forget. Swings and roundabouts.

@@chriswitek9455 it’s not true that you can move wherever you want if you’re at the front. that’s also a rule, not just common sense. demare was already on the right hand side of the road and didn’t deviate much, that’s why i’m not saying his manoeuvre was illegal, however it was enough to block pogacar who otherwise would have had enough room to continue his sprint. demare knew this and deliberately boxed in pogacar. that’s why i’m saying his manoeuvre was unsportsmanlike

@@yeetus1398 He didn't change his line any time, yes the road changed course but he didn't move at all, he should've been smarter and not be on the side of the road that Demare was going to stay on.

The amount of road to the right of Demare runs out very fast without the road turning at all. He moves over significantly. Pogacar had no other choice than try to go to the right of Demare. To the left of Demare is Jorgenson, so Pogacar goes to the right where there is enough space to just go past Demare. But Demare sees Pogacar trying to jump to his right and Gaudu behind Pogacar, so Demare cuts off Pogacar and opens up the space for Gaudu. If Demare doesn't want to contest the sprint, he could move over before Pogacar tries to go past him.
Demar knew what he was doing, he close the door on purpose to block anyone from the right. He already had the lead position so it was just well played.
Don’t think Demare did anything wrong if he didn’t know Pog was there & it seems unlikely he’s going to say he knew. Pog was in bright yellow and he did look under his arm though. Doubt we’ll ever know the truth.
