Inexpensive and Easy Driveway Oil Stain Remover 

I had this engine oil stain sitting in my carpark for about 6 months. Tried this method and it took off the stain completely! Thank you for sharing this tips!

Thanks so much for sharing this, it is really the best way to get rid of an oil stain. I have about a 3ft-by-3ft oil stain that has developed over 1-2 years. I'm renting this house, and about to move out, so I want to avoid getting charged for this damage. I first tried to use laundry detergent. After about 2 hours of several passes of using the detergent, scrubbing for several minutes, sitting, then rinsing, I was making little progress. I was wasting lots of detergent, energy, and time. About two weeks later I found this video and grabbed the $1.50 bottle of cleaner I had under my sink and poured it on the large stain. I let it sit for an hour, rinsed it off, and it is completely gone. I think it took longer to type out this reply. I cannot believe how quick and easy this was. Thanks again!

This man knows what he’s talking about! Wish I came here first before trying other methods! Hand some oil stains in the drive way, followed these instructions. Where I let the Clorox sit for three hours. No. More. Oil Stains! Great stuff! Thanks!

What a blessing! it really works! and the easiest way ever! I do a lot of automotive work on my drive way and backyard and I have stain from a year old to just couple days ago. I bout myself 5 bottle of this and did exactly what he said and I power washed the concrete afterwards there is zero residue! ngl better than any concrete stain remover

This works great. I was skeptical but the results are the best. Oil spots are gone and replaced with bright new spots but they look good compared to the rest of the sidewalk. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

This worked for me on my concrete driveway. I had several oil stains and their ages were between one day old to about one month old. I used generic toilet bowl cleaner with bleach (Walmart's Great Value brand) - I would recommend to others to use gel-based ones (as in the video) in the event the liquid ones run down your driveway, which mine did a little bit. I also only left it on for one hour because the stains were relatively new. I only had to double-treat one of the stains. Thanks @Aksmaniyak.

This actually worked, I bought a cheap off-brand bottle of toilet bowl cleaner gel from Walmart and let it sit on some oil stains in my driveway overnight. I just rinsed it all off with a hose and went back to check, some of the stains are still there but less visible. I just put down a second round right now, I'm thinking it should remove the stains completely. This seems to work great for newer stains, but older ones you have to do this process more than once. I've used "Goof Off" and it also works great, it's just kind of expensive and it makes a powdery mess. I'd rather spend $2 instead of $13 to get rid of some stupid oil stains.

I have tried at least a half a dozen other solutions and this is the only one that really worked! Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Bleach actually works! Thank you!!!

Thanks for the tip. I park my Deuce in the driveway sometimes and she's a leaker so I have tons of oil spots where I park it. My old lady wasn't happy about the stains so I needed a solution, lol.

I used this method , it works but if the oil is deep in the concrete it will take a second dose, but it does work.

Ok . I applied some Chlorox toilet bowl cleaner with bleach. I hope it works.Some of it ran down driveway because of angle of driveway.Well see.I might pour a 2nd layer and work it in a little right away before it has a chance to run. Thanks.👍

I tried this on a several week-old oil stain on asphalt driveway and didn't get around to hosing it off until about 24 hours after and it looks like it worked. Since driveway is on a slant, I used the gel, but it still ran off some. Waiting for it to dry to get a better view, but this was painless. Genius!

Was going to leave the standard "You're washing all that nasty down the storm drain". Then again, damage is done. You're already washing oil down the drain too. Definitely keep it from running onto the lawn. Have a gear oil mess to conquer. Will give it a try.

This works but don’t try it on colored concrete as it will remove the color. This also etches smooth concrete.

This worked for me… not sure if it matters but I used the bottle that just says bleach (not the bottle that says gel) looks like they have two options now. I left it over night… I didn’t have to scrub or pour water on it the next day although it did rain!! So that could be why ☺️

Hi, Thanks for the valuable information. It would have been interesting to see how it turned out if you used a pressure washer on it. I have some old stains on my driveway. I may try that as pressure washing alone doesn't seem to get rid of the stain spots. John

I bet if you add a cup to a gallon of water (for lighter cleaning), scrub the patio or driveway, wait 30 mins, it'll rinse right off! Great Idea! Just gotta make sure you don't hit grass since there is bleach.

Hey all ok I tried this one with a scribble bubbles and it worked, then I tried scrubble bubbles extra strong and it has the corrosive label on it while the first didnt. This one has damaged the pavers quite a bit it actually ate through the stone 😦

okay...this will work for a one-off type treatment. But you need to know that toilet bowl cleaner DISSOLVES lime...and lime IS a composite in concrete. So, repeated use will destroy the concrete over time...

I just tested a spot that is years old and it seemed to work. I have probably about a square yard of stain to cover, so I tried spreading it around a bit. I'll try to remember to let y'all know if it works that way too. (Trying to not have to put down 2 or 3 bottles.)

u think it will work on a stain 9months old if I do it couple times it's on pavers??

I tried this today, after someone left quite a bit of dirty oil on our driveway yesterday. It did not work for us. Since our driveway is on a slight slant, I needed to scrub the Clorox TB Cleaner in with a brush, so that it would not run off. After several 'scrubbings' and waiting at least 3 hours, it is still black.

What is Clorox equivalent in the UK please, is it just thick bleach? We weren’t shown reverse of bottle with ingredients…

Don't use Lysol brand. I tried it and while it lifted the oil it stained my concrete brown where used. Worse than before.

Does it have to contain bleach to be effective? My toilet bowl cleaner ingredients don't include bleach.
