Can't go wrong with these guys. They have such a unique sound. This album almost overwhelms me with nostalgia. I used to cut out some of the breakdowns from certain songs and use it as ring tones, which sometimes made me very slow to answer because of how awesome it was to listen to 😂

Long time Infected Mushroom fan here: they’re traditionally a psychedelic trance act (yes, think energetic raves in clubs, the forest/desert, and on the beach). They are classical trained musicians though and have branched into loads of genres but certainly rock/metal vibes quite a bit. Infected Mushroom usually play Psytrance, this is a psytrance-hybrid track that strays from usual psytrance formulas. Infected Mushroom and other Psytrance acts play at Bush Doofs: i.e. outdoor psytrance hippie parties out in rural areas.

I am an old dude turning 60 soon and been playing guitar since 1977 after seeing Led Zeppelin at Madison Square Garden. I am also very psychedelic and love all types of electronic music especially bands that add real instruments to the music. Sphongle & Infected Mushroom are two of my favorite bands because I get bored of the traditional sounding instruments you hear on every album. I luckily live in the most psychedelic city on the planet which is Austin TX and saw Infected Mushroom at a local venue about a year ago. Of course I ate a large dose of psilocybin mushrooms before the show which made for a very amazing experience. I sure hope you are still using psychedelics because I am am enjoying them more now at age 60 then when I took my first hit of LSD in 1978 at a Black Sabbath concert. I will be eating mushroom when I am 90 years old in a nursing home and my wheel chair will be decked out in LEDS. And you asked where this music is played. This music is played in all types of venues from small stages at Burning Man to main stages at festivals and local "rave" clubs in every city. My advice Key of Geebz is to get hold of some shrooms, drop a couple of grams, turn on, tune in, drop out and start some psychedelic decomposing. Infected Mushroom are amazing producers and you can can check out their workflow in any of their many videos on YT. Infected Mushroom's only rule in the studio is there are no rules. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YJWPcBYqmig.html. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7NaWAuld8JM.html. And check out Sphongle live in Red Rocks 2019. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uRiTKZfsMQQ.html. They are amazing and worth watching the entire show as It is mindblowing.🍄😎

Had never heard psytrance before, and during my first ever mushroom trip at 18-19 years old a friend put this song on. My mind was absolutely blown, probably had it on repeat for at least an hour. Became an instant fan of psytrance, seen them 4 times in the past 8 years, twice at a mixed EDM festival deep inside the woods in Sweden, then on a 10 day long psytrance festival in Portugal and another 13 day psytrance festival in Hungary. Forty thousand people in attendance, like 2 hours drive away from any small cities in the middle of nowhere. No 3G coverage or phone reception at all. Music playing constantly everywhere around you. It really feels like stepping into a completely different world, you instantly forget any of your everyday problems or responsibilities, just surrounded by amazing tunes, people dancing, smiling, laughing. It just radiates positivity and warmth from everybody. No drunk people starting fights, hell, I don't think I've ever witnessed anybody having a heated argument with somebody lol, which I have seen my fair share of on other music festivals

From The burning Man to underground raves and urban areas you can toss a rock and find somebody that'll play an infected mushroom for you. Personally for me, infected mushroom is just such a fun and energetic group to listen to while you're doing things. I don't have any background in professional music so I'm speaking as a listener. Normally I find myself listening to these guys while I'm working we're playing video games of course. But I always find their songs to be perfect in the sense that they understand how to keep momentum going and fully energetic while slowing down the tempo and I absolutely love that about them. I like your channel dude I'm subbing 👍

These guys are geniuses, theres a doccie on youtube somewhere where they show off their studio and go through some of their creative processes, really awesome stuff. Another excellent choice mang! These guys are typically classified as psytrance (portmanteau of psychedelic trance), a genre I fell in love with around 2010 when searching for background music to help me write. You keyed right into what got me hooked on IM in your first break, and I love the mix of electronic/digitally generated sounds with acoustic drums and guitars. To my ears, they push that even further on their album “Legend of the Black Shawarma”, which is full of bangers and absolutely worth a listen (“Saaed” just doesn’t quit and “Project 100” and “Franks” are super cool). I could go on, but for all of our sakes I’ll stop here. These guys (and the genre writ large) aren’t super popular in the states, so in the past they’ve toured in smaller venues (100’s to 1000’s of people), but also perform at huge multi-day festivals like you’re thinking of. Last time they came through NYC they played a theater that holds ~2k. I’m still here mang and lookin forward to what you listen to next. Awwwright 🤙🤙🤙

Every single IM song is a trip. Not just variations on a theme like with most bands, but a single song takes you to so many places inside a single arrangement with different moods, energy levels, emotions, and so on. As a composer, this is basically what nirvana is, to be able to create such a complex yet harmonious arrangement where often the starkly different moods and energies flow so smoothly into each other, it completely defies genre classification. Not just elements of different genres haphazardly thrown together into a cacophony, but instead blended and sewn together in a way that creates an entirely unique experience which is immediately recognizable. Infected Mushroom is a genre onto itself and very few bands have the honor of that title.

Don't find many people reacting to infected mushroom. It's a shame because they are really amazing. One of the very few groups that I will forever go back and listen to sooooo many amazing songs. Great music to anything to.

love this band, such amazing composition on their tracks! I have to say, even though so many albums and songs are great, Heavyweight brings back the most memories and feelings. there used to be a fan made video with scenes from Fight Club for this song, must have looped that hundreds on times back in the day. aloha!

Thanks for the video! Love all the breakdowns. One band I’ve never seen is Corrosion of Conformity. They’re incredible, like a bluesy Metallica, and actually spent years touring with Metallica. The lead singer, Pepper Keenan, was also in a band called Down that featured Pantera’s lead singer, Phil Anselmo. For Corrosion of Conformity you can’t go wrong with anything off the Deliverance, Wiseblood or In the Arms of God albums, but I’d suggest “Seven Days,” “Never Turns to More” or “Senor Limpio.”

Upon listening to this song the first time, I thought that the “electric guitar” was actually a guitar. But you can hear how the some of the arpeggiations and chromatic ups and downs are a little steppy. Pretty impressive though for the convincing nature of the sound. This song pushed me to explore more instrumental metal music like Intervals and other such bands, which pushed me into djent and a lot more of the prog metal genre that I hadn’t been exposed to yet. It was like up until that point, I hadn’t actually listened to music. Thanks as always Geebz.

I'm pretty sure those can be done in a guitar with the right tuning, effects and pedals....
@nilknoc101
@nilknoc101 2 года назад
@@Spitx you can trigger a synth with an electric guitar and produce this sound with the right equipment, but to my ear it sounds like a synthesizer. There’s some pretty distinguishable tones that clue in to it being a synth, like the arpeggiation and the crisp “steps” between half notes on the faster chromatic sections. A guitar has a smoother attack on the front end of a note, whereas with this sound it’s a lot sharper. Sounds like a synth to me.

@@nilknoc101 I agree that there is something to it, a bit like Rudess does himself. But I wonder how far engineers can go to make those cuts today

Wooo! Someone did a very good thing and pointed you at the most interweaved rock and psybient - relevant for you with the cool heavy stuff, cool for me - not many people decompose psybient. I actually appreciated a lot how you tried to combine years of digital composing into a 20 minute video when dissecting Shpongle. :3

I like how in your analysis you put a little extra care into assessing your awareness of others' interpretations of the music. You mention "public reaction," or in other words "where can this music be found?". Another example is "first-person" experience - never really considered that certain types of music are designed for certain perspectives. Remove the lens of musical analysis and your methodology is respectable in itself.

They're my favorite band, and this is my favorite song. The rest of the album (Vicious Delicious) is truly a masterpiece. Their music theory knowledge really shines in their earlier stuff, though, Classical Mushroom is also a phenomenal album. And them sounding analog isn't a coincidence, in addition to the plugins they create themselves, they use a lot of old-school equipment.

Crazy this came out in 2007, simultaneously feels right but also wrong for the time. I was only 8 back then so it feels like such a long time ago when I know it really wasn't, 2017 was just one decade later but I remember 2017 like it basically just happened

DUUDE the whole grim & creepy introduction, is literally as someone walks into a murder scene (you can hear a photograph click sound), and the girl's voice is obviously a grieving person as she discovers the tragedy!!

It's played at raves and festivals. Psychedelic Trance is the standard music they used to produce, which morphed into it's unique and changing style starting back in 2004-ish with Converting Vegetarians 😉 One of my all time favorite "bands" give a listen to the whole albums Vicious Delicious and Legend of the Black Shawarma if you haven't already.

True story: One of my circle of friends is a local psytrance DJ, and he happened to know the promoter of a concert of theirs in San Francisco back in the late 90s. As a result, we got to meet up with the band after the show, and all 6 of us (2 band members, me & 2 friends, and the promoter) all sat down for 3am breakfast at Denny's, and we sat and all talked and chatted for like 2 hours. Cool guys, definitely nice as well. Was fun to hear their stories about things like having a sunrise set on the beach in Israel in front of 20,000 people, poking fun at some really well-known DJs, etc. Definitely one of my best concert experiences.

I am so glad you dipped your toes back into Infected Mushroom. After your dive into Guitar Mass and seeing how disappointed you were about the lack of strong guitars, I was afraid you wouldn't give them another chance. Heavyweight being such a cascading and organised chaos, I was hoping you would listen to this one specifically. As for your question, I've always listened to Infected Mushroom in isolation so I'm not sure what their tours are like. But I've been listening to them for half my life. Going from album to album, it's difficult to really pick a specific genre they're in. They tend to move with the times and put their own spin on whatever is popular. Not in a "Let's go see what sells" kinda way, but more in a "Cool, there's a new sound, let's see what we can do with it" kinda way. It's too bad this video doesn't have more views, because I think it will mean you won't try more of their stuff in a video again. If you do have the time, try the entire album that Heavyweight is from (Vicious Delicious), as it has a lot of rock and guitar influences. Their following album (Legend of the Black Shawarma) has an even more rock-focused vibe. Also here's a list of what I think are the more interesting (read: not what I think is best) off of each album: - Return of the Shadows (The Gathering) - Dracul (Classical Mushroom) - Dancing with Kadafi (B.P. Empire) / Funchameleon (B.P. Empire) - Apogiffa Night (Converting Vegetarians Side A) - Jeenge (Converting Vegetarians Side B) - Meduzz (I'm The Supervisor) - Sulliman (Vicious Delicious) - Project 100 (Legend of the Black Shawarma) / Herbert the Pervert (Legend of the Black Shawarma) - The Rat (Army of Mushrooms) - The French (Friends on Mushrooms) - Pink Froid (Converting Vegetarians II) - Return to the Sauce (Return to the Sauce) - Chenchen Barvaz (Head of NASA and the 2 Amish Boys) - Splicon (More than Just a Name) I am fully aware that nobody asked for this, but I thought I would anyway.
