I think I like the sound of this, sounds like Scooby Doo but with more art history

Felicity Jones' character is AMAZINGLY annoying. She plays a doctor who advises Robert Langdon that he's suffering from memory loss, and yet she keeps asking "Who gave you this?", "Where did you come from?", etc...

I love how Mark always turns into Eddie Izzard when he's trying to explain a convoluted plot

I loved Inferno. It easily passed the six laugh test. There were about twenty people in the cinema and everyone was laughing throughout. It's like one of those terrible schlocky Nicholas Cage movies, but with Tom Hanks in the Nicholas Cage role.

From about 4 minutes on is Mark doing his best Eddie Izzard impression.

Finally! The long-awaited Kermodian rant. Haven't heard one of those in a while. I knew a film adaptation of a Dan Brown novel would do the trick! :P :D

I've been looking forward to this all week.

Mayo: 'Could you go back . . . just explain . . . the Horses of Constantinople, what've they got to do with it?' Kermode: 'Ah! Well, you see! Because what's happened is, right, there's a guy and he's very ... uh ... rich and angry and cross ...' ... And off he goes ... Lol

For weeks and weeks i saw the trailer on RU-vid and its finally hear the moment we have all been waiting for a classic Kermodeian style rant from the Good Doctor complete with him flapping his huge hands around ! And people say old Mark was losing his touch well he proved them all wrong for good now! This has to be the best rant since Entourage! If only Guy Richie went back to sucking think what else we could have!

This rant was awesome. Hilariously describes the movie. I remember watching it in cinema and thinking the clue stuff was so dumb, clues far too obvious to be clues and more akin to instructions anybody could have interpreted. Felt like the director phoned it in rather than take the script and rework to a quality standard. I enjoyed "Angels and Demons" as a kid, best of all the three Dan Brown adaptations to me.

just saw it it really was galactically rubbish. I only stayed on because the woman was very good looking, raven hair, green eyes, and a slightly freckly nose, bloody lovely.

Best rant in a while. It's fun to listen to Dr Kermode's opinions and then watch the films again whilst referring to the "running and explaining" element or "pointing whilst explaining" factor. I'm actually looking forward to watching this post Kermode review and experiencing the his insight prior to viewing for the first time.

Put it this way, if this movie had never been made, we would never gotten this brilliant review

Not shocked Kermode did not like it. The trailer made it look like a parody of action thrillers.

I read the book of this. Bewilderingly preposterous novel that just kept piling twists on top of twists far beyond the limits of reasonable suspension of disbelief.

MARK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please review the film Hope, a Korean film on Netflix. This is the best film I've ever seen and needs attention. PLEASE WATCH THIS FILM EVERYONE. YOU WILL CRY YOUR EYES OUT

I watched Inferno and Angels and Demons on Amazon prime during the Covid lockdown. I must be suffering from some kind of Robert Langdon-style amnesia, because until I re-visited this review, I had no memory of watching either of them. But then it all came flooding back. Yes, I watched them. They were absolute nonsense.

As someone who's been to Florence and Venice numerous times I really enjoyed the movie, I was expecting really dumb and boring experience but it wasn't that bad actually, I enjoyed re-visiting all the parts of Italy that I've been to before and the story was alright, twists were alright, go see it once

'And then, and then, and then...' I was expecting Along Came Jones (a prototype Woody?) at that point!

Tom Hanks is usually worth the price of admission, but the only way I'd ever watch a Robert Langdon movie is if Tom Hanks brought me.

From now on, all films must be judged by the number of Parachuting Pontiffs they feature.

This movie was tense as heck all the way from the beginning to the end

As someone who read and enjoyed the book i really don't think this film does it any justice whatsoever. But i have to say that what annoyed me most was that the changed the ending from something that i thought made the book an extremely interesting and thought provoking read to an incredibly generic Hollywood blockbuster.

I waited 2 hours and I atleast got parachuting pontiffs 😂😂😂

Why has there been such a gap between this third film and the second? Was it due to Hanks and Howard having scheduling conflicts, or is it another example of belated 'Let's dip into the pre-established audience again' that's plaguing movies?

After reading Dan Brown's books and thinking that they read like film scripts, I found the movie adaptations to be quite banal. The Exposition Code is the only film that I have ever fallen asleep while watching at the cinema.

Shout out to James Herbert! RIP.

I kinda wish Mark talked about the films he watches with another critic who watched it or get Simon to watch it as well. I don’t hate Simon but he is almost gratuitous on Mark’s reviews. Mark needs someone to interplay off of in terms of criticism, wit, and observations.

I thought that was the funniest review I've heard for a long time. I do have a philosophy that anything which promotes people to read must be a good thing, but that doesn't stretch to embrace films of such appalling quality.
