I appologize in advance for a small segment of the video that's blurry! I can't fix it for some reason ... Anyways this is a long term review on my g35. I'll cover lots so enjoy!
I had my 2005 g35 coupe for a little over 2 years and the only thing that I ever had to replace were tires and the cam shafts position sensor easy fix.
Just do regular maintenance and baby the car and it'll give you no problems except for the already well known minor G problems. Owned the G35 for 12 years and it still runs strong! As for the vq35de oil consumption, I honestly have to say that my G doesn't consume that much oil like most say. It's a great car! Currently have 130k miles on it, basically stock.
I had one, just recently sold (really miss it tbh) and the main issue i had was that at times it wouldnt turn over and then completely die. Turns out my battery terminal was going out. Replaced that for about $6 and it fixed the issue. Also didn’t really have an issue with the oil burn but then again it was an 04. I even drove it pretty hard occasionally when i saw a clear open road. Just dont dog it 24/7 and it should be reliable af unless you bought it with problems
Fuel pump, coils cat and radiator had this car for 5. Thinking of doing my cam sensor next since that’s what most people encounter. But I love this car just did a repaint job on her m.
JEMY JEM I bought it with 150,000 Kilometers (not miles). And aside from the clutch and flywheel issue, no. You will find the other problems with automatics as well
I’ve had mine for a little over 2 years, purchased my 2004 G35x with 156k miles for 3800 The oil consumptions is kinda ehh, about 1 quart every 1000 miles. Overall I’ve beat the shit out of the car, approximately 30k miles since I got it, always beating on it. Everything that I’ve had to do with the car aside from normal maintenance, was one of the camshaft position sensors which was 50 bucks and an easy fix. 1 spark plug and 1 coil pack, so another 60-70 bucks and that was an easy fix. As a side note the paint is kinda going to shit with the clear coat but yeah Nissan paint was kinda shitty then so it’s whatever. Then comes some of the heftier stuff. I had a lower control arm go bad, which made the front tires work against themselves and ruined the front tires which I had replaced all 4 about a year prior, so paid a shop for that fix, 500 and then 300 for the tires and that was really the pricy fix the thing is I should have caught the lower control arm earlier, and would have saved those tires, and I kinda attribute that damage to me completely beating on the car. Another thing that went recently was the starter, wasn’t the cheapest fix, due to it not starting in my universities parking lot 45 minutes from home, trying to work on it myself wasn’t exactly feasible, needed it towed somewhere and just fixed. Overall, I’m still kind of happy with the purchase. I’m now at 186k miles and for beating in the car constantly, I’m not really sure what else I would expect. Beats the hell out of my Lincoln ls which became unusable every other month, and only had it for around a year at 128-140k miles. But yeah my g is still a fun car, it’s not the fastest but it moves, the big thing for me was the all wheel drive. With new tires on and in snow mode I was driving through ridiculous amounts of snow with ease, and if I don’t need all wheel drive I can just pull the fuse for the awd system and it becomes 100% rwd and get an extra mpg and can have a little bit more fun while I drive
I'm suppose to test drive one today. 06 g35x sedan , automatic. 124k on it for 3K$. Its in really good condition body wise too. I think its a steal. Needs fuel pump, window and seat motors replaced so far from sitting in it. Going to def look for oil on the seals though. Thx for the tips
I currently own a 2007 infiniti m35, Got the car in sept 2016. And I have done three oil changes already. Repairs I have done so far includes 1. replace the power steering rack 2. Changing O-ring 3. Changed belts 4. changed spark plugs 5. Transmission fluid change not flush. I had a G35 and I30 before that, didnt do too much on them. I still love this car though. I feel in love with the engine sound.
Mine has been cam and crank shaft positions sensors and battery terminals. Then door lock actuator and now my suspension because streets in Massachusetts are shit and when I got the car a year ago the suspension was making a bit of noise. Great car though, love it
06 coupe, 132k miles. Bought it a few months ago at 129k, cats were replaced from the place I bought it from before turning it over to me. I've only had to replace the front lower control arms because the bushings on them were shot, common G35/350 issues, and it will need 2 front tires
i have not seen any of your previous videos. I want to know how many miles were on it when you bought it, what you replaced and the cost. Were the repairs absolutely needed? Is the car a 4 door sedan? Did you buy it from a dealer? did you feel you paid a fair price? Based on your buying experience would you do things differently?
Decent review man. Although 8 months of ownership (at the time of the video posting) is not really that long term. Although the car is getting a bit dated, it is a great car overall. Nicer and faster than a comparable Honda, but not as expensive to own as a BMW. I've owned a 05 G-coupe for 3yrs so I do undertand some of the frustrations with this car.
I dream of owning this beautiful machine. Especially with a stick. The flywheel was a smack in the face but you have to pay to drive the babe. I will never buy a 94 or newer BMW or Mercedes. I drove and loved the older ones. (735i,535i,635csi.,318i 6 was gorgeous. Tired of adjusting valves everytime I laid into it. 190e,2.3,190e2.6 both of these ran like monsters! 320e and e320 94 ,leather ,electronics garbage compared to provisos years. beautiful but slow.Maintain trans or FUBAR!
Do you have links/names to the exhaust parts you changed/used Izzy? I absolutely love the sound of the exhaust! Also, do you have any updaate on the car and your experience with it?
It was an exotic speed exhaust with the Y pipe and a cold air intake too. I sold the cars years ago but tbh it was a great reliable car. Looking to get a g35 sedan in manual for the winter.
Izzy's Autos that’s great info, thanks! I am also looking to get a G35 and am saving up slowly but surely and learning how to do the maintenance myself. Any recommendation on a good price/mileage to get the car at? Love the look of this car and think what you did to it was sick (including the winter drifting vid!!)
@@silasgalvao6327 these cars really ent worth much so I wouldn't pay more than 8 k for one that's in good shape. But just know that when your past the 150 k mark that you will have to start doing maintenance on them. Particularly suspension components. But mechanically they are solid
I dont think its the g35 having issue. I just think its older vehicle and that is the stuff that's wearing out. I have had a lot of older vehicle and theres always always a list of stuff that people don't no and pass it off on the new owner. If u add up what you spend in repairs you will still come out ahead compared to buying a new car on payments.
Just bought an 05 manual sedan and idk if mu clutch is going cause its not slipping but the biting point for it is almost near the top, how exactly can i tell i need to change it?
Chef K put the car in 5th gear and try and take off from a stand still. If you are able to get take off and start driving then you need a clutch. If the car stalls then the clutch is still good.
You'll need winters. I did a video on my g35 in the snow. Check it out. It might help. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g8Xze08Z0P4.html
Everybody beats on these cuz Dey so fast especially da young ppl I ain’t gunna lie i love pushing it da most I hit was 130mph . Dis is definitely one of da fastest car I drove
I have an 05 coupe and i find that my entire interior is so noisy. The car is lowered on Tein springs but every time i hit the smallest bump in the road its super noticeable.. i am planning on reverting back to 350z struts and springs so hopefully it will help with it.
Shashank Srikanth I get about 520 kms in one tank in the summer and about 490 in the winter (that's driven very moderately). The moment you drive over 3 k rpm you will get worse fuel efficiency
Great video - I have a 2007 g35 sedan automatic. The car has 122k miles on it and my car burns almost no oil. I have always changed the oil with either royal purple or Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30. I put in 5.18 quart and after 5k mile oil change I get about 4.25 quarts back. My car does have issues but they are mostly interior. The interior is stating to peal at places, driver side seat leather is ripping. I did have my ac motor relay go out at 118k but I fixed it - it was a 38 $ repair. Other than that everything is rock solid. I am the second owner and purchased the car at 60k miles 5.5 years ago. Gas mileage is poor on this car , I get about 19 city and 25 highway. We also own a 2015 q50 sport and an Audi s8 2015. The q50 has better gas mileage with more power. The s8 does 18city 25 highway with 210 more hp. Not loyal to any brands - have owned 2 Camry’s in the past, One Honda Civic, Lexus IS 350. Donated the Camry’s as they were old, sold the Honda, and gave the IS to my parents- I have had no issues with our cars besides the usual tires replacement, brakes, engine oil change, air filter replacement, and control arms / headlight replacement (twice both )
Lol this video is hilarious Ive had the same problems wirh my G my freaking driver window motor broken. crankshaft sensor blew, radiatir blew, clutch and flywheel costed me 1800 bux creaks rattles all day.
Bro, where did you get $1200 for a flywheel? Who's quoting these prices? You are getting screwed left and right. Amazon.com if you have a US contact or shipping address is $428US for OEM LUK DMF067. If you don't RockAuto has the same one DMF067 for $653.73CAD all in, shipped. No reason to cheap out with single mass, your car will sound like a cement mixer at idle. Do your homework otherwise you're going to keep getting the shaft.
porksniffer I'm from Canada so the prices are way different for us. US prices are way more reasonable but we pay more because of our terribly currency. m.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_nkw=Infiniti+g35+dual+mass+flywheel&isNewKw=1&isRefine=true&mfs=GOCLK&acimp=0&_trksid=p2056088.m2428.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xinfiniti+g35+dual+mass+flywheel&sqp=infiniti+g35+dual+mass+flywheel
Buddy, I know that, I saw the video lol. Check my location. I'm from QC.I own an 03 6mt Brembo, all 100% stock. RockAuto sells it for $653.73 taxes and shipping included to ON, in our crappy Canadian Pesos. Check for yourself.
Was your Audi a 4 banger? Probably had a single mas flywheel. Not trying to say it's cheap, just pointing out your error in the video. Flywheels are NOT $1200, not even in Canada. In any case if your car wasn't abused the flywheel should last the life of the car. These cars produce a lot of vibrations at low revs. A single mass flywheel will drive you insane in city traffic and also transfer constant vibrations to your crank and gearbox. Overall this car is much cheaper to maintain than an Audi.
porksniffer I'll have to check out your websites but honestly iv checked oem distributors and in got those prices. I called infiniti of Edmonton and they quoted me 1600 for the clutch kit and fly wheel (then again its infiniti and not aftermarket). But as for the maintenance on an audi, It wasn't that much more compared to luxury Asian brands.

deultimateusername I think that's a fair deal for the car. If it was all wheel drive then I'd say that's a great deal. Stay tuned because I'm posting a video about driving the G35 in the winter!
Alexizzy i had a 04 sedan my wife just totaled last week... we didnt have any problems out of her.. had her for about 5 yrs. one thing I can say though do not put engine oil additives in those 3.5s. it will throw all kinds of sensors. I did that and had to change my oil twice in one day
Nobody says a good thing about this car. Seems that all G35 owners live in denial. 'The engine burns oil every 500kms, but its a well known error' 'the engine mounts should be changed every year, but that is a well known error' 'the transmission is known to drop the 3rd gear forever, but since the engine is very torquay, its no problem skipping third gear and go from 2 to 4...' WTFFF?? I've been driving Honda sportscars for the past 15 years and the G35 and 350z sound like an epic shitttt car to own!!!! Wtf man.. Smh..
No other way to become more mechanically inclined than to get a car that makes you keep it alive. I own a 1994 chevy 1500K POS 250,000 miles still kicking, and just bought a 2005 G35 6-speed 150,000 miles.
A lot of them are delusional fan boys that love their piece of shit Nissan regardless, even if the car literally exploded they would just say well, it can be fixed.
Given that it's AWD, it might sound like a good deal but 260 k miles is a LOT. It's cheap but I think that it won't have many more miles left on it before something major goes on it! So to answer your question, I wouldn't buy it
Fkn love my 03.... 6 speed coupe. Once you work out all the bugs, you're good. As far as the window motors, they just come loose so dont buy new ones. Tighten the mounting screws, test em out, and they should be all good.
@@dabayissac743 all depends on how it's been treated and serviced. Those engines are nearly bullet proof. Chances are the tranny or diff will need to be replaced before any major engine work. I've seen some with around 300 k
dana Naeher it depends on the condition of the G35. best bet is to buy it off a mature driver who hasn't bagged it. it's worth spending a bit more for one that is in good condition
Well said. They are decent value used cars if you can find one that hasn't been dogged. Especially the manuals because there are fewer of them and they really tend to get see more of the beating. If you are decent with a screwdriver and wrench many of the issues these cars are known for such as the window motors and door actuators pooping out can be fixed relatively on the cheap. Just dear god do not take it to a dealer. A window motor online will cost you 50 to 75 bucks depending on manufacturer. Dealer will bend you for 200 or more plus the cost of install which can be done in your driveway with a socket set and screwdriver.
Hey Alex, This may seem like a stupid question but... If i wanted to listen to music on my phone on the car via bluetooth or aux cord, is this possible?
No such thing as a stupid question! And yes you can do both BUT some Bluetooth decides do not allow you to listen to music. Mine for example is an older after market pioneer system that allows me to call in Bluetooth but not listen to music. So I have to use an aux cord
If you want to add a system with Bluetooth I’ve heard it can cost up to $1000 since they have to take apart the entire dashboard. Is that true? I want to add Bluetooth in burning through aux cords and just getting sick of wires lmao
Adele Mercedez that sounds incorrect in my view. I have seen plenty of vehicles with after market head units that are Bluetooth ready. Sure they cost around 200-500 depending on the company, but 1000 is not true.
