@@judex24 It's not like Hero bounce though, that shit's automatic and just invalidates a tool. Ned's counters were callouts, from Jake using minecart too predictably. That stuff is good to see.
Tbf it's the first offline major where we see A Steve main player. Pros are barely getting used to playing against this character offline. Once they get the hang of it, Jake might go away. Or he might improve. Who knows. We need more offline tourneys to say.
Yea but it’s dumb that he knows NO COMBOS. Dude would be doing even better if he would just spend time refining his combo game. Would be scary cuz this characters damage output is the best thing about him and jake does not use that to his advantage at all
Jake beat PikPocket, ChunkyKong, Goblin and Mugen, for his first (or one of his first im not sure) offline major, this is hella impressive, getting 9th!
I don't play Minecraft I came from the latest 90s and people in my era never played that at all like fornite everyone in my era played either cod or Tekken and maybe some smash. Minecraft ain't me at all.
Still clowning on him while he got 9th by 3-0 goblin, chunky and mugen and getting to the 9th place over 500 but yeah carried by online lol am so funny 😂
@@madnard8744 okay I get it calm down lots of people that saw this vod said in the future he shouldn't spam minecart makes it easy to read. I just saw dabuz react to this video yesterday. Don't believe me go see his twitch channel for the video.
Seeing Steve Side-B be this such a strong option this late in bracket hurts to watch. Hope as time comes that people become consistently good at dealing with it. Props to Jake for being able to prove that Wifi players aren't significantly carried though. Good stuff from Ned too was clearly the better player.
Idc what you guys say being one set away from top 8 in your first offline tournament (a major tournament at that) is extremely impressive and you need to give Jake his credit
Glad Ned beat the Steve and he is so goofy nairo was right. Also sakurai and devs made two chracters to counter Steve from square and they have reflectors seph and hero. By that I meant hero bounce and seph counter schitnilla.
Joker maybe good but arsene was nerfed and he ain't got armor so seph one wing outranks joker. Also after ned I've been seeing lots of sephs offline in my brackets.
Worst thing is that they call him Minecraft instead of Steve or in this case enderman. I don’t call sephiroth final fantasy, or snake metal gear solid. I don’t know why commentators do this with Steve, but that’s not that big of a deal 😄
@@unge1483 think they called him Minecraft because he’s multiple different characters in one. I’ve seen other commentators do the same with bowser jr. by referring to them as koopalings
@@davidnichol4735 Well he might be getting a little carried. I thought Joker was a little overpowered when he first came out, and Wallah! MKLeo believed he was overpowered and he eventually got nerfed. I think it's impossible to perfectly balance so many fighting styles.
@@davidnichol4735 This happens in sport all the time, and it's very normal. It's not repulsive, it's just competition. People say this all the time with the projectile heavy/campy characters because they believe they are cheap and/or boring and it compels them to want to see them lose. Unless he hates Jake on some personal level it's nothing new and it's nothing crazy. If you want to really get him back then say "Jake is only gonna get further in future tournaments". And he just might.
@@kahlowest5988 you meant the steve yeah he thought it would work offline and ned would fall for it. this aint online. you know he had the berv to say on his twitter if it was online id beat him.
Breath of fresh air, honestly. Been dealing with commentators getting the move names wrong on iconic characters from 20+ year old franchises and it's frankly frustrating to hear them always get the Minecraft shit right. Go play an actual game ffs
Still don't get how people are still so pressed about Steve. I mean we got Banjo & Kazooie, a character people have wanted in for decades, and Sephiroth, who is just hype. I'll admit I was kinda eh on Steve being in, but it didn't really click until I played some casual games with my nephew and he was incredibly excited that Steve was in. There's a lot of people who really like Steve and are happy he's in smash, but a lot of them are younger and thus outside of our demographic. Doesn't mean that smash can't be geared to appeal to them as well.
Hey man, just because you don’t like Steve doesn’t make him a waste. Minecraft is easily one of the biggest video games of all time, and the fact it is represented in Smash Bros is really cool to many people.
@@madnard8744 you think I main Zelda? Because of my pfp? I don’t use Zelda bro lmao. So your insult isn’t only weak as hell, but now it’s completely invalid lol.
@@harrisonharp9430 Honestly, I see where you’re coming from because I really understand how important this is for some people who love Minecraft. I just think that he’s not fun to watch or play against in competition. Maybe it was a bit harsh saying a waste of a slot, but I just personally just don’t like playing against him or watching him is all.
