Like Aristotle said, "...don't think of infinite as a whole..." I think this was the most interesting thing I've head about infinity thus far. For some reason, whatever that reason may be, I always assumed infinite was whole. Great program!!! Where would I get more similar to this...? Thanks!
About the Metaphor in trying to describe infinity. Isn't it essentially about trying to reconcile what is(observable universe) with what we can imagine? Ie. that the hare actually DOES catch up with the tortoise and that also theoretical not, because an infinite chain of events need to happen to get there.. The imagining of the infinity chains is just that. Imagination. And so for this program, always wanting to get to the empirical nature of the observable universe - isnt then this question out of it's remit to discuss in the first place? Ie. that the melvin and the gang should know already the nature of their tendacies of enquirer well enough to not ask the question in the first place, as they would know from the outset they will not come to a conclusion? Theyre expecting too much.
aleks 430 no it's a program to explain infinity not solve it just to explain where it came from and how it's used in math anymore than that on a Thursday morning at nine am would be to much for laymen ;)
