I finally managed to take Zoom ZH38 thermal imager for review. A lot is now said about the unit on the market and I was greatly interested in how zoom lens will perform against normal lens without zoom. As one of the best samples of thermal imagers with non-zoomable lens and more or less similar field of view I decided to take Helion 2 XP50 PRO. I have to say that ZH38 has two positions of focus (19mm and 38 mm), but comparison was only at higher magnification (38mm) to match Helion's magnification and field of view. Also I should mention that Helion 2 XP50 PRO is slightly higher in price. Zoom ZH38 is a good unit for the money and performs well, however there are some things that you will not see without comparison. The findings about Zoom ZH38 are in the video.

Excellent comparison! No question the Pulsar blows it away and the most important part you left out is Pulsar is a Lithuanian company, not a Chineesium company where your hard earned dollar goes back to our enemy. Keep up the great comparison reviews!

Very nice comparison! Have you seen any difference in latency between the units? My experience with Infiray, and other chinese brands, is that they tend have slow image processors.

You are comparing two different sensors however, The Helion 2 has a 640x480 sensor while the Zoom ZH, in its name already has a 380x244 sensor. So of course the HElion is going to be MUCH better. However, can you tell me what you used to mount the ZH38? THank you

Nope, ZH has 640x512 sensor, but 19/38mm thermal objective lens with F-number 0.9/1.2. I'm wondering if ZH50 with 25/50mm lens an F 0.92/1.2 is doing better than ZH35.
