Could you make a video about the comparison between INFJ and INTJ? Or anything about INTJs? Most videos about INTJs are so full of stereotypes like every INTJ hates people and stuff, but tbh I'm quite sure that I'm an INTJ, and I can still be outgoing and enjoy parties with my friends and other people I get along with. I just need enough time when I do stuff on my own, and I especially need to be able to make independent decisions. Your insights have always been quite interesting in all the videos I watched of you, so I'd be interested in a video that doesn't talk about "INTJs hate people, spend their days hiding in a dark room, have an IQ of 300, and want to take over the world." I hope that this might be a good suggestion, and it'd be really cool if you could make a video about that!

@Pintu Kayu You don't. No human is their personality, per clear cut implication. You didn't have a personality when you were "born", thus it cannot be what you/we inherently are. It is conditioning of the body mind. So, INFJs "not knowing who they are", CAN be a most tremendous gift and upper hand in regards to begin to discover what and who we truly are in essence, as we don't cling as much to the false identity as much as most personality/ego-types are. Use this life and the INFJ tendencies to discover what you are beyond the ego! :) See this as a sign, if you will. Love.

As an ENFJ, I believe introverted thinking is a little more nuanced than you are stating. I almost always know my opinion, but I also feel that it is my role to suppress that opinion until I figure out what others are thinking. That’s not because I want to change my opinion to join the winning side. It is because I want to know what others think and why they think that way without being swayed with my opinion. I can see how people could misunderstand this as not understanding our own thinking, and honestly, there is a lot of value in understanding another viewpoint. But when push comes to shove, an ENFJ will make sure you understand exactly what they think.
@sirbradfordofhousejones
@sirbradfordofhousejones 4 года назад
I was trying to explain that to someone on the internet (I know, bad idea) the other day. I’m an ISFJ, so my Ti is my third/child function. It isn’t that I CAN’T be logical or share my opinions/train of thought, it is that it isn’t my natural inclination to actually carry it out. Like you said, other functions (namely Fe) make us more concerned about the recipient than the information/opinion itself.

As an ENFJ I hate sharing my opinion when I know it's in contrast with someone else's opinion. In other words, I avoid conflict and confrontation. When I feel it is necessary, I get annoyed that my opinion isn't already known and respected in some way. The reason I feel this way is because I usually know others opinions without asking, and I therefore respect that opinion, through actions or words without being asked to do so. I expect the same from others.

@@skf2658 im an enfj too, i deal with similar stuff the exact same way lol... i just differ in that, I respect other opinions but I don't expect others to respect my opinions I know that understanding others opinions is a strength of my personality type that a lot of other people lack off... so, in those situations im patient and i just hear them and support them even when they are agaist my own oppinions. ENFJ: the loud one, comfortable with anyone and everyone. A natural born leader due to them being a people's person, people tend to listen to them because of the charisma they have INFJ: loud but only within their inner circle of friends, can be a leader due to their insightful personality but doesn't like the idea of being in charge. If you think my comment is a stereotype, let me tell you one thing: this whole Myers-briggs personality IS a stereotype to begin with. @@renee.ssance It's ok when you want to comment how to spot differences, I actually encourage that but stereotyping doesn't help. I'm an INFJ and my boyfriend is an ENFJ, our relationship dynamic is so fun to analyse because we are so similar but so different at the same time. Here are some of our differences: - I love deep conversations about the patterns and meaning of life whilst he likes more surface-level conversations where he doesn't have to think too much. - I'm an ambivert so I like to be social sometimes but I really need my alone time to recharge, whilst it seems like he feels more rested after being social. I find this so weird - I'm very open to him about what's going on in my internal world: my feelings, theories, ideas, dreams etc. because I feel like that's how I connect the best, whilst he isn't the most open about his personal experience. It's like he almost forgets to even think about the meaning behind what he's feeling, he's always more concerned about how to manage the feeling itself. - I feel out of touch with the external world, I'm so clumsy because I spend so much time inside my head, whilst he is so encapsulated by the external world that he just thrives and he achieves anything he puts his mind to. - I am very future-oriented and love to have super organised plans, but I struggle with the execution of plans because I feel overstimulated with the number of possibilities that I just shut down. Meanwhile, he is very present-oriented, still organised but tends to rush into the plan before thinking it through completely which can be problematic. I hope everyone who reads this has an amazing day

Same here, everything you've listed happens to me and my husband. I feel like him and I are two sides of the same coin, he keeps me down to earth when I freak out and I help him to think more about himself. And sometimes he's lazy and curious at the same time about intellectual matters, but I'm sure he could surpasse everyone's intelligence, if he wanted to.
@Revelwoodie
@Revelwoodie 4 года назад
ENFJs are notoriously tough nuts to crack. We tend not to share our inner world easily. I don't know how long you've been with your BF, so things will evolve. Also, don't take anything I say here too seriously - always remember you know each other better than I ever could. That being said: 1) ENFJs absolutely LOVE deep conversations. If he's reticent to engage with you on that level it likely means one of two things. Either a) the subject matter strikes too close to home, and he's not ready to let you all the way in, or b) he strongly disagrees with you on the subject, and thinks there's no way for him to discuss it with you without it hurting you or turning into an argument. 2) If he's an ENFJ, and he appears more concerned with "managing" feeling rather than understanding them, it's because (again) he's not comfortable sharing that with you. Maybe it's early in your relationship, and he just needs more time to get there. But it could be, like I said above, that what he feels is at odds with how you feel in a way that he feels might be harmful to your relationship if discussed. An ENFJ is going to keep something to himself if expressing it would hurt someone they care about. Or...he could be mistyped. Like I said, you know each other better than any stranger on the internet. But if he is an ENFJ, I assure you there's plenty going on in his mind that he isn't sharing with you. Getting inside his inner world will take a lot of patience on your part.

Someone is upset. INFJ knows something is wrong and will stealthily try to figure it out in a way that doesn't further upset the other person. If they fail, they'll retreat into their own heads. I wouldn't say that I swing (ENFJ here), but when I'm under stress, I certainly can be a bit more INFJ-ish. And I think that's common. When you think about it, INFJs and ENFJs have the exact same functions in their stack, just a slightly different order. So that would be a normal stress reaction, pulling back my Fe because I feel embattled or unsure, and letting my secondary Ni step up, or feeling like my tertiary Se is behaving as an inferior function if I'm overwhelmed with too much input.

As an ENFJ I am extremely opinionated (politely and respectfully of course) about a lot of things and in fact I'm quite marginal/controversial in a lot of my opinions and always willing to talk about it and hear about other views too. (Changing the world and all that) BUT I am not opinionated when it comes to matters that are personal - in expressing what I want or need or deeply feel. Like in the example given by FJ of the beach versus family holiday - I would feel so torn, on the one hand my family might be expecting me and feel let down on the other hand my spouse wants peace and quiet at the beach to recharge. That's already a nightmare scenario without adding in my own desires of what I want to do. If I really, really felt I had to be with family and let down my spouse that would be just so awful to communicate but I wouldn't relish telling my family if things were round the other way either. My own personal wants probably wouldn't even come into it - which is probably why it is difficult to defend as it sounds like we're just doing what others want or choosing who 'needs' us most - lol.

ENFJ here! I actually thought I was an INFJ until recently because I much prefer to be alone since people tire me the F out; turns out the wrong kind of people (those who take and never give back and use you as their personal therapist) will deplete all of my energy to the point that I don' even want to go out or text people back, but the right kind of people (the givers! the listeners!) will energize me and make me feel like I can stay up all night goofing around. We ENFJs really have to be careful to whom we give our time and energy to/towards. We're natural carers/nurturers and so we are so focused on helping people that we forget ourselves. My brother has always joked that I have psychic powers because I can tell what he's thinking and what he wants/needs; I'm just very attuned to people...too much so in fact. The biggest lesson I've learned has been to put myself first, voice my wants and needs, and stop trying to make everybody happy. Fights are very difficult for me because I need harmony and closure, so I have a hard time not getting to the bottom of an issue and resolving it right then and there. I've had to learn that sometimes it's better to breathe, take a moment, and just let it go....and again, stop trying to make everyone happy! Best example of an ENFJ is Monica during the thanksgiving dinner where she has to make individualized dishes for everyone and their different tastes...and nobody seems to care how long that whole process will take. On another note, my ex was an INFJ and it was a great relationship because we just got each other on a deep emotional level and we could sit there in silence and just hold each other. He was also very eager to make me happy and do a thousand little things for me; just like I did for him.

I think it depends on the circumstances. I have noticed that certain personality types drain my battery quicker than others. But as an INFJ, when i am with certain people i can literally go and go without stopping. For example, i love traveling. Traveling with my ENFJ cousin can be exhausting honestly. Everything has to be so tightly controlled and up to their standards. She has to be the primary planner but will then get frustrated when you don't add your input. When you do add input, its quickly shot down if it doesn't fit her idea of what should happen so then i just sit back and let her plan it. I constantly feel like everything i do is low key being judged and if I get tired and need some space, it has to be on her terms. Even as an infJ, i start to feel like im suffocating a bit. I get tired and need more time to introvert and be alone. But when i travel with my ENTP and ESTP (yes estps im sure have THE highest amount of energy of all the types in general) im super fired up and can go for days without stopping. They are less...invasive? And as an INFJ i think we like our freedom to just exist lol. With most ENJFs i know, even if i am much older than them they always find a way to be a bit condescending and controlling and though i can handle it for a while, it eventually makes me want to hide under a rock lol espts....as wild and high energy as they are, usually give me my space and generally dont care to control people so i feel more free.

ENFJs seem friendly on the surface, but they often make passive-aggressive biting comments. Sometimes their criticism comes across so sweetly that it takes a minute to realize the insult. INFJs will either silently judge you or be very direct, depending on their mood. They tend to be sarcastic when irritated, and they don’t usually sugarcoat their words. This is really interesting to me, cause I've related to both sides. Growing up through high school and university (5-10 yrs ago) I used to take these tests and be INFJ every single time. Everything felt exactly right when I read the descriptions. Then... I spent two years living and working at a remote biology field station. Living with 20+ crazy 18-25 year old reptile ecologists in a weird hybrid of a hippie commune, reptile house, and hostel. Eventually I became house manager, taking care of everyone and making sure shit got done. They called me "house mom". Every time I've taken the test since, I've been solidly ENFJ. I definitely relate to the ENFJ being able to react better to curveballs, that's totally a skill I learned at the field house. Strange how intense experiences can shift personalities like that.

Sim.

But the 'Fe' as a dominant function and 'Ni' as the auxiliary is perfectly explained here! Loved the movie analogy. Thanks for shedding light on these rather dark grey areas!

@@revelbangtanexo2642 I've noticed that to. A lot of people I've talked to about MBTI who claim to be INFJs, I think might actually be ENFJs who don't want to self identify as extroverts because of the absurd stereotypes about extroverts. There's a lot of "I'm not like other girls/guys" energy among the younger MBTI enthusiasts. And the stereotype of extroverts being 'shallow' and introverts being 'deep' (totally not true) means that any self respecting teenager is going to be SURE they must be an introvert. They just HAVE to be 'deep.' And this is easy to confirm in their daily experience, because the perfectly normal social awkwardness of that age can easily be misinterpreted as introversion.

Hey my boy FJ, I gotta be honest: your representations of ENFJs drive me NUTS. I'm not sure what your experiences have been with ENFJs but you often misrepresent us at best, and make us look like we're bad people at worst. For example, the way you kept saying "bugging" at the beginning of the video rather than noting that we care about helping others to be their best, or crafting harmony by understanding everyone in a room and the way they're all connected (we're systemic thinkers too! It's not just INFJs! We're just focused on different systems!) And that's how most of your ENFJ content is when you're doing sketches about all of the personalities. You've only gotten it right only a few times (at least in my experience, and I'm an ENFJ who's friends with quite a lot of ENFJs). We as ENFJs are super interested in this stuff!! We want to get to know people and MBTI or Enneagram are great ways to get a snapshot of how someone might be thinking so we don't have to "bug" people so much 🙄. But when I see my own type so consistently misrepresented I wonder how the other types see themselves in your videos? I'll have to read the comments more often to get a better picture. It sucks to not get much representation as ENFJs, and when we do get mentioned it seems to be an incomplete understanding of us and with a tone of annoyance in your videos. 😞 Hope you can see all the effort I put forth to struggle with sharing my opinions because I felt moved by the lack of ENFJ related content that is accurate. I don't want that content if it's gonna be a misrepresentation, though.

We get gold stars for being early right? Lol One thing I was just thinking is that ENFJ is like a collectivist ISTP. They build but with people. They put the hammer or the mud in the people's hands and get the group building a collectivized Ni vision rather than building it alone. And they use their voice to move others to action and to build each other up. It's pretty cool to have at least one really motivated ENFJ friend. They've built some impressive projects in group contexts. I'm always really happy to visit and see what new things they've developed. I feel the biggest difference between us is that I(INFJ) feel my thinking can be a bit more unconventional. Though I feel that's true for most people I've compared my mental thought notes with. I've always felt a bit embarrassed about it too especially when I get the glazed over look, even though it was the greatest epiphany experience for me on a personal level. Also it's often like I need permission to act on an idea or to motivate others, and ENFJ doesn't hesitate to call people to action, there's no waiting for permission with an ENFJ around, they are handing you the tools before you even think to ask.

I'm going to be honest, didn't like the way this went for some reason. Perhaps I've got to learn not to expect too much. But with the movie thing. If I can tell the deeper meaning or purpose of the movie, (if story line will have value in real life) then I allow myself to absorb into the characters emotions. Any techniques that can earn me real life skills I.e. self confidence, esteem, relationships, social skills. Now that's a good movie. I have to learn something. Otherwise forget it.

They feel a huge sense of responsibility for others and take the role a father figure😬As an INFJ when my value system is violated I wont just adapt because I have to compare the violation and see how much it will impact on who I am. It is like mixing ingredients. we are not separate from our experiences and actions, we take that into account when going through life.

I recently discovered that one of my best friends is an ENFJ (I am INFJ). We have always gotten along very well, and when I first met him he was interviewing for a position at my company and almost the moment we started talking, I knew I wanted him to come work with me. Our relationship has grown past that working relationship (but is not romantic). He helps me focus outward, and I know him well so when he lets himself get dragged down by things, I can sense it and will pull him back up. Even when we don't talk, we have conversations with each other. He knows I love him even though I have never (and would never) say this out loud. He has a lot of interests, but he knows I am always there. He makes me feel like he'd be there if I wanted to do any grand scheme. It's awesome. He's awesome!

My mom is an ENFJ, and I’m an INFJ. We are very close, and love to have long heart to hearts, but I often find that I need to “tone myself down” around her. Most people think I am quiet and mellow, but she thinks I’m intense and exhausting - I think this comes from her struggle with the Thinking Function. When I’m trying to engage her in real world problem solving, she can’t hear my affirmations of her feelings. My language that affirms her, which is usually enough for most people, goes in one ear and out the other. She can’t hear my affirmations when I’m challenging her on a people-oriented decision; so Frank, what you’re saying here makes a lot of sense. Something I’ve noticed, that you didn’t cover, is inter-personal conflict between these two types, arising from our mutual drive toward personal perfection. INFJ’s feel this drive intensely, to the point of inappropriate guilt, but we tend to process it internally… I’m not really sure why. But because of this tendency, my mom thought, for years, that I did not have this intense drive. She thought I was morally lazy. In fact, when I look for external affirmation from her by saying something like “I feel so guilty when I say no to someone about hanging out,” and instead of assuring me that I have no need to feel guilty, that it’s my decision (which is what I need to hear as I’m processing) her pre-programmed assumption is that my guilt is probably based on truth: that I don’t care about the people who want to hang out with me, and I should find a way to hang out with them. She jumps immediately into problem solving, to help me find a way to hangout or reschedule, which makes me more stressed and guilty, and I retreat to my room. :) I’d love to see a video going deeper into how various personalities, especially INFJ’s and ENFJ’s, approach guilt. If you have one already, please let me know. Thanks for the video!

shoujofanatic ENFJs are hard to befriend? I’ve got 3 INFJs in my life and I may have ENFJs but most of my friends, mates and pals don’t identify themselves by MBTI and I’m not really into typology enough to spend time trying to type people. I sort of organically get along with others to a greater or lesser degree. I’ve found culture to be more of a challenge than cognitive functions in terms of understanding one another. My good mate back in the UK might be an ENFJ, come to think of it. I’ll have to see if he’s ever taken the test. As for relaxed, I do believe my INFJ friends know how to relax but we are all meditators. And I said Frank was “looking” relaxed.
