Hey Chris! If you could pin this V2 update that would be great: I want to clarify a few things about the V2 that I've discussed with Chris. RAINFLY - Adding a flap to the rainfly would make the rainfly less effective. Instead we are developing a zip in window insert (like the plastic window covers) that has a side mount stove jack. This will allow V1 users to also buy this accessory so that they can use the Rainfly and stove at the same time. It would require that you use two 90 degree elbows for your chimney, but we think this will give you maximum protection. ROLLER BAG - We may or may not include a roller bag for V2. The roller bag was meaningfully more expensive when we priced it out. If we do included a roller bag for V2, we will have to increase the price of the tent. We can also just offer it as an upgraded accessory and so V1 users could also purchase a roller bag for their tent. WATER PROOFING - When it comes to the water proofing issue that Chris experienced, this would be covered under our warranty. Any customer who experienced this issue would have their tent fixed or replaced. As you can see from the video, all the other panels were fine. Even with out the rain fly you should be able to use the tent without a rainfly in moderate rain. V2 PRICE INCREASE - We encourage you to consider buying the V1 as the winter sale ends at the end of Feb and the price will go up $400 dollars for the V1. The V2 will also probably need to be $100 more than the V1. Lastly, the V1 customers will be able to buy the accessories to upgrade their V1s to V2 status. This was a great idea that we developed with Chris, which shows how tuned he is with the needs of our customers. Last but not least, we are offering SPACKMANN12 coupon code for 12% off! This is literally the lowest price we've ever offered if you combine the winter sale with Chris' coupon code. If you are planning on buying this tent, please use this coupon code so that we can see Chris' subscribers. That way we can continue to send him more products for review.

One more clarification! The stove jack that comes on the roof of the tent is a usable stove jack and made from the same material as the stove jack on the RBM tent. The reason ours does not have a precut hole is so that users can cut a hole to the right size for their chimney pipe diameter. That being said, we still believe its a good idea to use the silicone jack insert to keep hot air in and moisture out, but that is simply user preference.

I know there isnt a high price for the stove jack,but buying it seperste after the big price on this tent I feel is a negative forme with the tent. It looks amazing for space and i do like that its cotton to help air flow. Your suggestion of adding a rain flap for the stove pipe is a great concept for them to incorporate into version 2. No lack of windows for a beautiful view of a snow storm while enjoying the earm fire from inside.

@oliezi_outdoors
@oliezi_outdoors 7 месяцев назад
We want to clarify that the existing stove jack can be used without the silicone accessory. Our tent has the same stove jack as the RBM, but we still recommend the silicone jack to keep hot air in and moisture out. We have worked with Chris to verify that our stove jack material is the same as RBM, but is simply not cut. We chose not to precut a hole so customers can cut the right size hole for their pipe.

Great review. Glad you really analysed that "misting" problem and narrowed it down to an issue with a single panel section. Any chance that you could do a stove test on this tent with the fly off and then with the fly covering the roof and all the sides that it will cover? That would make it, essentially, a double-walled tent, which I think is supposed to retain heat better because of the dead air trapped between the two layers. I noticed that you didn't have the jack installed or a stove in place. Is that because you need to return the tent? If so, you could do the test with an electric space heater or two. That might even be better than a fire, since the heat output would be more consistent. I think it would be interesting to compare on such a large tent. Speaking of the wood stove, that collapse of the roof could have been a really big deal if you had a fire going at the time. A hole burned into the tube (does it come with a repair kit) might make it very difficult to re-erect, since it isn't metal poles that could be splinted or replaced in a pinch.On the other hand, being heated might have reduced or outright prevented the buildup in the first place. What do you think? Also, is the material flame retardant, if you know? Lot of questions, I know, but I have one of those "inquiring minds" that you sometimes hear about, along with a number of weird committee meetings goin' on in there at the same time. LOL

Im not sure if I’ll get to doing a test like that comparing it with and without the fly this year but if I can I’ll post it. But logically your thought makes sense to me. As far as the build up. I think you are right. With heat in it, it wouldn’t build up as much. I really should have cleaned it off before the rain but it came unexpectedly overnight and I had no idea. Thanks for watching

OK. This is a sweet video. If I had the money, I would definitely buy it. We have 10 people in our family and they set up would be so much easier than what we currently use. But that is a hefty price. If you were to set it all up ahead of time, and then spray all the seams with waterproofing spray, would that help with the leaks do you think?

My canvas 3-meter pole-center bell tent weighs 70 with the tub floor, so 100 pounds for something that large really isn't bad at all. And I don't even have plastic windows. Longevity is probably the biggest question at that price point. How long (in years) will it reasonably hold air?

That thing is massive!!! I take it the floor is PVC which is a good thing. Canvas is very durable though prone to mold and mildew. You could live in that thing! To be misting from the roof, and for that price? Totally unacceptable. You shouldn't need a rain fly if it was waterproofed properly. The rainfly would just be an added bonus and an added protection measure from the inclement weather. But you should not require a rain fly. That's a shame!
@AdventureswithSpackmann
@AdventureswithSpackmann 8 месяцев назад
Quality control issue at the factory is my best guess cause the rest of the roof panels were dry. Hopefully later version are improved on. The static head rating of the canvas is low to help to prevent mildew and mold making it more breathable. Thanks for watching
@campmansoutdoors6927

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely unacceptable to have that type of misting. A simple water proofing treatment would address the issue. TC cotton fabric breathes. @AdventureswithSpackmann
@AdventureswithSpackmann 8 месяцев назад
It’s the normal size of a big wall tent in my opinion. With heat I would imagine you’d use a lower psi for expansion of the air as the temp increase. As far as how the tent would preform in heat, it’s canvas and semi breathable so I think it would do well but Oliezi can probably speak to that more. Thanks for watching
@oliezi_outdoors
@oliezi_outdoors 8 месяцев назад
@@AdventureswithSpackmannyour right in all points. The main benefit of the terylene cotton vs a duck canvas is that it is lighter and breathes more. This means it’s going to be less stuffy for hot weather. Not to mention all the windows you can open for ventilation. If you have access to power, you can also use a portable AC inside the tent using the vent holes in the back section. Hot weather with high humidity is the norm for South Korea and parts of China. This tent was designed in those markets and have seen a lot of success in those conditions over the last two years.

@omarherrera7745 with the window insert you can. But both the RBM and this one are designed the same so you would have the same issue with RBMs tent. But they don’t have the window insert.

Great video! These kind of tents look supremely awesome, they're almost like an instant house!!! Love the rainfly, maybe I'm old school but tents without rain flies just boggle my mind..... Where are these people camping? Indoors? LOL where would you not need a rainfly? 🤷 I agree that the rainfly needs the stove jack flap for sure! Also... Skylights? Wow. That's fancy as hell LOL 😂 gorgeous tent!!!

Hey bro another great video. I was just thinking since there is a flap in the ceiling of the tent. Why not put the stove Jack that you bought in the rain fly right above that flap . Then you can use the rainfly on the whole tent that way. Just line it up each time when you put it on above that flap in the ceiling of the tent. And when you don't want to use a stove, you have the flap inside of the tent to close it off

@@AdventureswithSpackmann The windows are bigger. One hole wall is a window. Mine has never leaked without the rain fly on. Yes, I got a rain fly with my Panda medium. The skylight covers 2/3 of the total roof area. I didn't order a wood stove with mine, yet they included the heat resistant fabric that goes up the wall. I also got a hammer that has a knife, saw, and fire striker in the handle. What's really great is it was only $1,000. The large is $1,400. I love mine.

I hope the company offers replacement windows for the clear plastic. With time the UV rays will deteriorate them and start to crack. If you've ever had a convertible car you know what I'm talking about. The plastic will start to yellow then brown and start to crack because of the UV rays.

Hi Josh! Thank you for your kind words. I want to clarify a few things about the V2 that I've discussed with Chris. WATER PROOFING -When it comes to the water proofing issue that Chris experienced, this would be covered under our warranty. Thank you again for your interest!
