Next Challenge -someone who isn't a model to model -location isn't "ideal" -amateur photographer with your gear vs you with a cellphone -before after any editing These were to read as 1 challenge not separate challenges, my bad
The not ideal location was covered before I think. It was something about making boring locations interesting and they took photos by a flower patch in a parking lot or something lol
@@bobdeng8014 now you mention it. i think she did do 1 of those but it hasnt been done in combination with the other things which should definitely make it challenging
I think the instagrammer has great ideas and concepts, but her execution with angles and possibly settings fell a little short compared to the pro. Both were good though.
Everyone can have great ideas and concept. You don't have to be super creative to develop an idea. But like other things in life, it is the execution that matters. That's why she is an instagrammer, not a photographer. You can see many of the instagrammer shots have poor/overlap backgrounds...Like I said. She's an Instagrammer, not a photographer. The difference is obvious.
I feel like Jessica plays more with perspective /in general/, because Jasmine did so too enourmously at the second location! But I think the difference is that for influencers it's more about just making the pic and the model look good and enhancing their features, while for photographers the photographs tell a little story and they usually have more specific imaginations on what the pic should look like!
Model is another critical factor to make your pictures look professional. This model has beautiful body shape and her face is thin that has nice sharp angels which make it easier to come up with some good shootings.
The difference is pros usually focus on the basic skill, i.e. the sunlight on face, foreground, background, color combination. While the influencer looking for the impact and the selling point of the photo, like facial expressions, the direction on the image, mixed up with different shapes like circle and triangles. Pros plan: how to make it memorable Influencers plan: how to make it being clicked.
Brialarine is gorgeous and I loved her natural and playful movements over the posed ones. What a smile! It was a crime not to get that smile. overall a good comparison
VS a Famous photographer. Oh! What if you did vs a photographer that usually does a different genre like wildlife/sports/architecture etc. idk just some ideas!! Love this video Jessica!
I dig the concept but a true test would be Same model and location but Different cameras, styling, concepts. These photos are all beautiful, but look like they are shot by the same person. Also, The term instagram photographer typically means they shoot with cellphones. Once you pick up an SLR youre basically a photographer. It doesn't matter what platforms you choose to display your work. I dunno, am I wrong?
Hi Jessica! Your photos look amazing. Each photographer have their own style and that is what makes each of us unique. If you want to collaberate sometime, we should! I am a photographer too.
sleepnabox it means people would rather talk about meaning and purpouse instead of "aesthetics". Even in art, the "l'art pour l'art" has passed a long time ago
I really didn't like Jasmines photos in the second round. The one where she is laying down is the only one I like. But you can rally see how instagrammy her photos is, because it has the same feel as all other photos on Instagram.
@@marissanee4669 I don't know how to explain it. The pose, the editing afterwards. Just as a whole? 🤣 Like they aren't bad, they are actually pretty good. But just Instagrammy.
i hated the camera strap and one day I took it off and used no strap and it felt sooo much better. I replaced it with a wrist strap that is detachable from Peak Design and it's amazing.
I loved them both! As someone who has worked as both an instagram photographer as well as a portrait photographer, I know that each person has different thoughts going through their heads when it comes to capturing their subject. An instagram photographer typically looks for more unique angles and locations and tries to pose their subjects in more editorial styled poses. Whereas many pro photographers that are used to photographing weddings and more portrait work are focused on giving their clients photos that would make them the happiest with the final product. Usually people like more traditional and "pretty" styles. They also focus a LOT on lighting, camera settings, and many other technical factors.
Thanks, I was wondering if Jasmine was joking or playing dumb to be cute. I assumed that she could read, and was not legally blind. "35mm equivalent" is so often just assumed these days, and it still throws me.
Totally, I think Jessica is not a fast pass person when it comes to shooting, Ive seen her past challenges that required minimum time to shoot, and most of her shots are not that great compared to others but when I saw her picture during her shoot with felix’s wedding I was surprised.
There is a difference , Jessica composes a photo and takes her time to make a thought process of it , how to pose, color schemes, light, stance. RU-vidrs “Mango Street” do talk about their process of taking pictures and not just clicking away
snapshopped. Ya actually usually when she does these challenges I find that out of all the pictures the people she challenges pics look the best But that’s just my opinion haha
She was actually right about the lens being a 36mm equivalent. The Canon 80d has a 1.6 crop factor so a 24mm lens on that camera behaves like a 36mm on a full frame camera.
i adore both of your photos/ work🥰 i recognised different types of styles.... PRO SIDE: more editorial / fashion INFLUENCER SIDE: advertisement/beauty couldn’t choose between you two!
you should do a cosplay photographer v pro photographer! i know plenty of really good photogs who primarily shoot cosplay and it would be interesting to see if theres a difference in approach
Im a pro photographer and this was interesting to watch as I've shot a few influencers. Jasmine says around the 5 min mark about Jessica gives instruction vs Jasmine receives it. THIS yall! Every time I shot an influencer I felt like they were bossing me around but really they just know the particulars of what type of content they need. In that regard I feel like I have to speak up and suggest MY VISION as the creative I am and why they hired me to begin with.
Once more, I loved everyone in this video. Everybody's so funny and sweet. I liked the second location a little better, and Jessica's photos No. 2 and 4 there best. But Jasmine did a great job as well! The poses she chose look a little awkward at times imo, but the ideas behind that were great. :)
I preferred the influencer shots the first time around because I don’t a love a blown out sky, I like that you could see cloud texture.. but I wayyyy preferred your shots for the second round. You can tell that a pro can deal with harsh light so much better!
