Liberals and Conservatives are best influenced by mirroring their filters they
view life through. Liberals tend to see life from a horizontal continuum POV.
They want a full spectrum of life experiences. This is true all across the world.
People connect with others typically for two reasons. First is that they are like each other in some way.
The second is that they don't like (at all) something or some things about THAT GROUP over there.
But this is only part of the story!
Liberals when set side by side with Conservatives are seen to have very different personality traits. Liberals are typically open to new experiences. Meanwhile conservatives are more conscientious. A person can have BOTH sets of personality traits, or NEITHER, either is simply less common.
These traits of course are not opposites of each other.
These personality traits shine like lights in the dark. It takes scant seconds to identify a liberal or conservative and they make up about 85% of the population in most nations.
There is another legitimate psychological trait called "agreeableness." Generally liberals tend to be more agreeable, but this was detected only when agreeableness was broken down into two different components: "compassion", which leans left, and "politeness", which leans right.
The research I've done here has been rather comprehensive. If that is true you
should be able to predict what someone will do in most contexts given this
dramatic metaprogram/thought/experience filter.
Liberals tend to expand their horizons in most respects where conservatives
respect those that maintain the status quo. Conservatives gravitate to similarities
within their own behavior. (They might love cruises and vacation in that way,
80% of the time. They might love steak as their favorite meal and go that way
on most special evenings. Perhaps they go to the Baptist or Adventist Church.
If so you can predict it will be very unusual for them to do otherwise.)
Although you certainly could use the content from this five part series to influence a
conservative (ex.) to become a liberal (ex.); that's not the intent of the series.
Rather we want to show how to influence conservatives and then liberals for
purposes other than converting to a new religion or one another's political party.
I'd like them to do business with YOU.
The problem people in sales, marketing, dating face is that they don't know
how to connect with people who don't think just like themselves. That's
what we will fix once and for good here.
Take careful notes watching this video. People truly believe conservatives and
liberals can't like, trust or believe those that aren't in their group and you might
not be in "their party."
Certainly they (conservatives or liberals) cluster to their own, but the fact is
that you can learn to persuade, sell and market to both sides of of "the aisle."
This first video in the series shows precisely how to be effective with these
two growing and polarizing points of view.
One understanding will not cut it. You must be able to see the world from the
other person's point of view to be effective, respected and trusted by those in
each group.
