The vent below the evaporator lines connects to a tube that goes to the housing where the ECU and TCU are. There should be an inlet line that feeds air into the ECU housing to keep the computers cool. That incoming air then continues into the evaporator housing to provide an actual flow of air through the computer housing.

I'm not sure which direction the air flows. Could heat up the box to keep it from freezing.

I would start this by removing the front seats, because it's easy and gives you much room to rotate all those dashboard parts. And you'll still have the rear seats to sit on if you like

Hi Robert another great informative video on a job nobody wants to attempt. I am fairly sure I will be doing this on my 1996 850 T5 soon though, after seeing how you tackle it. You used a special tool to disconnect the pipes at the fire wall. Can the job be carried out without it, if so can you advise on how to do it please? cheers

Huh? You can't get the $12 tools?

That vent is probably some kind of drain hole, my Jetta's has a similar hole in just about same location.

Is this same on P2 XC70, Robert, I think either dirt, or decayed leaves 🤔 have blocked the core, as it holds freon, but quits chilling after a 15-20 minutes travel, and doesn't drain that much water out the bottom, but I did verify that the drain tubes weren't blocked...

Is the compressor still running?
@MrQuantom

@@RobertDIY Verified NOPE... which means that the clutch needs to be < shim.. 🤔, but also the cooling fan doesn't kick on high, when A/C is on, so i have a Replacement for that coming too... but will need to pull the compressor clutch, and remove a shim?

What kind of clue makes you think the evaporator is out of duty? How long to get this evaporator changed, please? Thanks for answering, Robert!
@RobertDIY

It is leaking refrigerant.

@@RobertDIY You talked about a leaking evaporator between 13-90 days, and after that, no more R134a, which may be a clue. Did I understand well?
