Now that I have been using the Cricut Mug Press for a while, it is time to jump in with some ideas for making Infusible Ink mugs with this machine. This video is sponsored by Cricut, however, all projects and opinions are my own. We are going to cover full wrap mugs, layering Infusible Ink, and using pens with the Cricut Mug Press as well. You know I really like this and was very tempted to get one of these machines but it has highlighted to me how much waste is created particularly with these full wrap transfer sheets. I really think that it is about time that cricut spends some time developing ways to reduce all this waste, or at least make sure that what is left can be recycled. Can you imagine how much is created by just one person doing this. I think we need to care about the environment more. The results are great! I think your videos are really good and clear. The way we craft though really needs a rethink if we are going to protect the world we live.

Thank you for posting this. I have wasted a few pieces of Infusible ink transfer sheets because of poor weeding (or maybe I just gave up). I must look into the contour feature. Small letters are the thorn in my side (a’s, o’s b’s, d’s, p’s and i’s - because I can never get the dot!) Maybe I’ll try again since I’ve watched your video. I’ll tap into some patience before I start, though.

Very nice. So many options. To my eye, having some shapes along the border edges looks so much nicer than the straight lines. I haven't actually drawn with my cricut yet, and i have been meaning to. I can't remember if I have infusable ink markers though. This would be a good project to do that with. I like your friends mug. I am planning on doing a sisters mug. I am trying to find a cute sisters saying for one side and then put our names on the other side.

I am new to cricut & can’t figure out how to put multiple templates on the canvas, like in the video at 5:27… I didn’t want the ripped edge after I designed my idea but had to delete everything ‘cuz I just couldn’t figure it out. Here is a challenge for you. Use the infusible ink pens with a silicone pad printer to see how well the inks adhere to oddly shaped surfaces and objects: eggs, ink pen barrels, golf balls, USB Flash Drives, key chain blanks, computer mice, bottles (drinkware, baby bottles, pill bottles, etc), coasters, plastic and metal boxes, name tags, headphones, ear phones/buds, and whatever else you can reproduce in line with the things you can have personalized from an online custom imprinted promotional goods web site or catalog. If you're not sure what pad printers are lookup the topic on RU-vid. While there are specialized inkjet printers with UV curing that can mass produce custom printed 3D objects on purpose built jigs I was curious if you could reproduce those types of machines using only Cricut's infusible ink pens on a pad printer. I'm wondering how long it will be before Cricut makes a Crafter's version of the Pad Printer :)

Just look on your package and see if it can be used in a laser printer. You just want to make sure it can handle the heat.

It would depend on your blade condition. You don't have to but if you find your blade is worn and not cutting well, then you can.

Thanks Angie! Great information, clear instructions. I have 2 quick questions: Can i use the infusible ink markers (instead of pens) in the Cricut to draw designs? And does multi-purpose copy paper work or does it have to be laser copy paper? I've made few mugs with infusible ink transfer sheets, now for the next experiment!

Markers or pens will work. You just want the copy paper to be rated for use in a laser printer. I usually just look on the back of the package and it says if it is okay or not.

I love all your videos! I have a question: when you draw a freehand design on laser copy paper with the infusible ink markers, are you taping the ink side to the mug? I’m wondering only because would wording need to be drawn backwards? Thanks!

Correct. You draw and put ink side down. Any words would need to be mirrored.

Thank you Angie that was so good to watch. My Mug Press is being delivered to the store tomorrow and I was going to return it straight away. I could not find a video where you can do other colours and not just the roll of infusible paper. I am wanting to design mugs for the family with coloured flowers and a house etc, also photographs maybe. So I think this means me drawing which I am no good at. Do you have any idea if I can do this please? If not I may just hand it back tomorrow for a refund. Maybe I am being too ambitious. Oh I only have a normal printer too and not sublimation one and cannot afford to buy one.

The only way you are going to do photographs is with a sublimation printer. The mugs I show here are a good representation of what you can do without a printer.

Hi Angie, New to the mug press and making mugs. I have learned so much about infusible ink for mugs. You explain every step so well. I am trying to make the Cat mug ,the project on design space. It has 3 colors and the instruction said to slice/set. In your 2 color mug you cut out the Purple Heart separate from the main pattern, and placed them inside the cutout space Can I use your technic for the Cat mug, it has 3 colors. Or do I have to slice/set. I don't know how to do the slice/set. I would appreciate your feedback . Thank you,

The method I used here is the slice and set. That is what Cricut calls it!

Do you have a video on using the Joy to customize and draw one of the designs for the mug wraps using the Cricut infusible ink markers? What kind of paper do you use for the markers and then apply to the mug?

Thank you for this! I just bought a cricut mug press. I am having a VERY hard time with weeding small designs out. I’ve try 4 times with different designs and the infusable ink paper always comes off of the tranfer tape. Any advice?

Infusible Ink is hard to weed first of all. Second it doesn't work great with super small designs. Even if you weed them out however you can put them back on the paper or even use heat tape to put them on your design.
